City making quick moves. They are in for the uncapped Brazilian keeper Ederson. Looking to break the highest fee paid for a goalkeeper.

Pep is ready to electrify. Still, he needs more, but this could be the first problem solved since you don't win anything without a keeper. Looks like Joe Hart is done there.

City already bought Bernardo Silva from Monaco. Hopefully he won't be wasted on the bench or make some other quality player suffer. It's time for them to find some full backs and assemble a younger line-up. Yaya, Kompany, Sagna, Kolarov, Clichy won't last forever, Zabaleta already left. As for the goalkeeper I am really surprised by how shaky Bravo has been. He was the least mistake prone goalkeeper during his time at Barcelona, winning the Zamora trophy convincingly in 2015.

Silva looks to me like a David Silva type of player. With all the attacking midfielders they have, seems a bit strange they went for him before they addressed the defence and keeper situation.

Perisic to Man United or Chelsea rumors have started.
Even if the club secured a CL spot by winning the league, I'd want them to go out and win the Europa League if they ended up participating in it during the season. Ignoring any competition should never be an option.

I don't think Chelsea are interested, at least not as much as Man Utd anyway.

There were rumours months back that Bakayoko was essentially done, you'd of thought it would be announced by now if true, but I think it's probably close. Apart from that, van Diijk (not that interested personally, Christensen should be in the first XI next season imo) and Lukaku are probably the next most likely. I'd like a better striker than that ideally, but there just aren't that many about and they're in high demand, so..

Apart from that i'd be looking at a couple of Italians. Conti is a solid wing back who's made for Conte's system and Bernardeschi who seems to be able to play anywhere.

So that's 4 players (plus Christensen coming back from his loan spell). Seems pretty reasonable and addresses the areas we need to add to without going full Phil Neville world XI.

Huddersfield up to the Prem then, well done to them. Klopp's mate should be good to have around too.

Ernesto Valverde is the new Barcelona manager. Juan Carlos Unzue, the assistant of Luis Enrique and one of the favorites for this job will be managing Celta next season instead. All the best to both of them as well as Lucho wherever he ends up.

Hopefully some La Masia players will get chances in the near future, but anyway, let the summer business begin.

Unless they have the keeper situation under control and it looks like they do. Get certain deals locked down before other clubs sneak in.

I'm sure Pepe provided a list.

Whoever breaks Buffon's record transfer soon won't be anywhere as good as he has been. He is top 5 all time easily.

top 5 is a insult for him, he is easily the greatest ever with the goalkeeping talent paired with the consistency that he had for over 20 years there is no one in the history of football that comes close!!!

Top 5 is a minimum, sure he can be considered greatest ever. But guys like Yashin, Zoff, Schmeichel, Casillas shouldn't be ignored.

The Great Dane is the greatest for me. Yes, United bias in the way I'm sure, although it makes it easier to say when you know he really was that good. Lack of real success (as a team) is holding DDG back in my eyes and could be looked back on differently in a couple of years. We'll see. Going to be hard to shift Schmeichel from the top position.

Arsene Wenger will be staying on at Arsenal for another 2 seasons.

I wonder how Arsenal Fan TV will react to that. :D

That's going to be 22 years. He isn't beating Sir Alex though. Quite astonishing how Arsene survived the last decade when managers are hardly ever given second chances these days.

United have apparently cooled down on Griezmann. Then he comes out with a twit message talking about loving Atletico more than ever. Something like that. Could just be the usual crapola before player signs. Reports now saying he will give at least another year to Atletico. hmmmmm

Atletico Madrid lost their transfer ban appeal, meaning they can't sign anyone this summer. That means they will keep their current stars, can't afford to lose them.

For sure, yes. Just think if United really want him and he is a primary target then they would get him since you can't reject a minimum fee release. Unless he ends up signing a new deal with a higher release.

As I was looking through the United team again after reading an article. Is he a player they really need? Like really need? World class and all that, but we have similar. Mata, Mikey, Martial, Rashford. None of them is stone cold number 9 and I think that is what we need. Good to hear that Ibra wants to give another year and I can't say he won't be able to lead the line even with his age. Of course, this is a brutal injury for anybody and I have to consider his age.

hehe look at me being all anti-Griezmann now because there is a doubt that he is coming. :p

I think the release clause for Griezmann is around 100 million euros. Will Man United complete a mega transfer for a second summer in a row? I am sure the club can afford it but even they should have a certain limit when they will say the player is too expensive.

We need someone world class and clinical, and our current guys to become more clinical because this season everybody was awful at that, even Ibrahimovic. I wouldn't mind him staying but we do play a different, slower style when the grandpa is in the line-up. Anyway, number 9 won't be the only spot that the club has to strengthen. Four transfers are expected.

When Griezmann officially commits to Atletico you'll say you never wanted him anyway, won't you? :p

Really is quite mind-blowing. Always takes me back to Cantona. Even people then said it was peanuts. Now all these years later it is even more crazy to think about. Of course, I guess that might have seemed like extortion compared to some of the transfers before that, but we had deals like Lentini :( going to Milan for 10+ million around the same time. Cantona was definitely a steal. Now, United get charged the full premium for anybody they go for. Yes, you know all this. Just taking a trip down memory lane. Last season reminds me of 91-92 in a way, although we were never title contenders last season. Just many opportunites wasted.

I am ready to delcare Griezmann as rubbish. For somebody that doesn't report on speculation, I sure do have a habit of counting my Chickens. I let myself believe that Griezmann is already at United. Of course, he might still end up there.

Expecting more clinical form even before any signings are made. Being more used together with the current regime and whoever comes in can add to that. Hopefully. Rather than rebooting the whole system again with a new manager.

Apparently Jose wants Lukaku, Belotti and Morata instead now

I don't know what's going on with Chelsea. Bakayoko only seems to be happening if they get Batshuayi in return. Then in turn, Fabregas and Matic look like pushing for a move if he does come and limit their game time.

It's like one step forward, three steps back. Still early in the window, but it's a bit concerning.

    Don't forget Lacazette. :D

Been reading it all haha. Seems to only be real interest for Morata if it can be a swap deal and money for DDG. United will have more bargaining power now because of champions league. Give us Bale as well and I might be up for letting De Gea go.

Yeah, you never want to go stale while the others are playing catch up. Always need to make some sort of adjustment.

Matic seems to be gathering momentum too, another to add to the list!

Yeah exactly. Our squad is fairly limited when it comes to depth, just one on the bench for central midfield, one wide player, zero wing backs and Costa will probably leave, maybe Batshuayi in a swap deal.

Not sure why the players think a player coming in means one of the current lot has to leave. Loads more games next season, more injuries, suspensions etc.. we can't do it again with a squad of 13.

Should be a treat I would think.

Not that astonishing though, different sort of club. Plus he's making lots of money from getting top 4 all the time. So little motivation from his point of view to get rid of him. A new manager could do better, but could also do worse. Plus there will be the rebuilding process, probably won't click overnight if they do get the right guy. If he gets back into Champions League next season and the next season, I think they'd be quite happy to keep him again. He's a safe pair of hands. Now if he has a couple more years out of the Champions League places, then I think they'd be tempted.

I do like that Fabinho noise as well. haha It was strange to me at first because I only recognised him as a right back due to this one time I managed him on that computer game that now has its own thread. I didn't know that Fabinho also plays defensive midfielder. It was strange because even if I'm still against the idea of people playing out of position, Jose does love Antonio Valencia so he will contirnue to be the rb going foward. And Frank Rijkaard is one of the goat defensive midfielders after being a centre back. I need to deal.

Seems Manchester is where it's all happening this summer, which you'd probably expect after this season.

I've heard Man City are close to getting Mendy for around £40 Million and there's some of that crazy talk about Sanchez wanting to move, but stay in England. Not quite sure why they need Jesus, Aguero and Sanchez.. but I can't see them turning him down if he really does want that move.

Where was this sloppiness and lack of intensity against us in the quarterfinal, Juve? Might as well say it now, congratulations Real Madrid. Apart from that disgrace against Bayern, obviously the best team in Europe this season. More impressive and convincing than last season clearly. Well done on breaking the Champions League curse.

Maestro Zizou wants to become a legendary coach too, just as legendary as he is for his magical performances on the pitch.

Man I remember being so harsh on these guys, questioning them immediately after they lost a game in January, for the first time in the season and after more than 40 matches unbeaten run. Can't forget all the name calling I did when they lost to Barcelona at home a month ago. But here they stand:
    -with La Duodecima
-ending the Champions League curse once and for all
-scoring in EVERY GAME of the season
-and winning the first La Liga/Champions League double since 1958.

It's over, I won't be hard on this squad ever again, quote me on this if I ever don't keep the promise.

Manchester United and Real Madrid, the biggest of all giants, winners of this year's European trophies. 2016/17 is now officially the GOAT season! GGMU & HALA MADRID!

And now it's time to pay tribute to the player that keeps writing history. I even called him stats boy or something like that when he dared to have a few bad performances in a row. Only two Champions League goals going into the quarterfinal. 36 goals in 26 games at that point, and already here you know what a player he is when those numbers are not good for him.

He ended up scoring 16 goals in his final 10 games of the season. 6 in the final few fixtures to win La Liga, a brace and a hat trick against Bayern in the CL QF, a hat trick against Atletico in the SF and a brace tonight against the Juventus. Three of the toughest defenses in the world and he tore them all apart. Now he stands at over 400 Real Madrid goals in less than 400 appearances and precisely 600 career goals.

"I don't consider myself a Galactico. I consider myself a player who created history in Manchester, Madrid & Portugal" Never have you stated anything as true as this, Ronnie.

    Ladies and gentlemen, CRISTIANO RONALDO!

Real Madrid are easily the best team in Europe and rule this competition. Juve were the better team in the first half but RM completely controlled the second half. Juve's capitulation was sad to see, and still cannot cross that final hurdle and get their long-awaited 3rd CL title. To defend this title, and win a La Liga-Champions League double in a season when they also had to fly off to Japan for the Club World Cup, is amazing.

It's amazing to think that in the last 4 years alone, Real Madrid have won the same number of Champions League/European Cup titles as Man Utd have won in their entire history, and more than Juve have ever won in theirs. And in the last 20 years, they have won more CL titles than either Barcelona, Bayern or Liverpool have won in their entire histories. They are the greatest and biggest footballing club in the world by a considerable distance.

Real Madrid's squad has everything and no weaknesses. They have so much depth, options, technical flair, world class players all over the pitch, grit and resilience, experience, youth etc. Basically a perfect balance of everything. And it's scary to think that both Marcos Llorente (a defensive midfielder) and Jesus Vallejo (a defender) have been outstanding out on loan for Alaves and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively, and will further strengthen their squad when they come back.

Alaves were Euro for Euro or cent for cent the best team in La Liga this season, finishing 9th (winning at the Camp Nou and drawing at the Vicente Calderon) and reaching a Copa Del Rey final with a squad that cost just 5.5 million euros to assemble. And Llorente was their best player. He has the ability to become even better than Casemiro in a few years IMO.

Real now have as many Champions League titles as 2nd and 3rd most successful club combined. #ReyesDeEuropa

    Should have posted this yesterday.

Nice Heineken commercials this season Jose. But it's time for you to participate in the finals again soon, maybe as soon as next year. Prove the doubters wrong once again.

Cristiano Ronaldo was man of the match and received the award from his second father, the man who crafted him. Off topic, Ronnie's new gf is hot!
I think both these clubs missed some good opportunities to have more than 3 and 2 respectively. Manchester United especially, I feel that for such a club, one of if the biggest in the world, they could have added a bit more European trophies into their cabinet. Maybe rejoining the elite and challenging for the biggest titles will happen very soon.

Well yeah but these recent wins are brought on pretty crazy levels. You spend all that money on the best players in the world that other clubs created, sell the ones that don't work out and then just go again and spend more, then you're bound to start winning stuff eventually. Spending stuff like 80/90 mil on one player again that other clubs turned into great players before you brought them. I'm pretty inspired by this and hope that my team (Man United) can do the same thing. It's probably much harder now to do it now than it was like even 5-6 years ago because of Real Madrid and Man City and Chelsea to a lesser extent already doing it and establishing these freakish super teams.

Real Madrid are the best team in Europe, cant complain. Unlike last year when they where very fortunate. Not sure what happened to Juve in that second half.

I don't feel too sorry for Buffon. he has won a World Cup after all.

Mad isn't it? Obviously some luck involved in cup competitions. Think Real have been fortunate to win 3 in s4 year, although not this year. Zidane also has won as many European Cups as Sir Alex Ferguson. Which is just crazy, of course context matters. The achievements are not even in the same
    stratosphere.

I do believe United will win more European cups than Real Madrid in the next decade. Economics should dictate that, but we will see.

I doubt it. We are a shambles at the moment and can't even finish top 4. Good thing we won the Europa league. We need to do what Madrid done in the last 10 years or so and spend money on already established stars/great players (Ronaldo, Bale, Kaka, Robben, Benzema, etc). The ones that don't work, we sell and keep trying. Pogba was a start. Martial is just a kid and unestablished in big leagues. Was stupid to spend all that money on him. The other over the hill players and MUGS that occupy our squad aren't even worth talking about.
