Mere top 4 finish? I'd take that right now! What with how the Manchester clubs have strengthened, the players we've lost, Champions League football next season etc.. let's not forget the last 2 league winners have finished around mid table. Not saying that'll happen again, but Champions League qualification isn't guaranteed. Got to love the Premier League! :p

Yeah, yeah, just like you were saying last year.

You'll be right up there much as I'd like it to be otherwise. City probably favourites at the point I'd say, and the head says Chelsea the next closest challengers. Heart says Liverpool and if we get our signings we can be up there. Depending on how Spurs handle Wembley I'd have them from 2nd to 4th. Still not convinced Mourinho's not done, and Arsenal are losing Sanchez, but if they keep him a front three of him Lacazette and Ozil is as good as anything.

Personally I expect the same top 4, maybe with a change of order.

That's what's so great about the Premier League I suppose, you have no clue going into it each season. I agree about Tottenham and Wembley possibly having a drop, Liverpool looked good at stages last year but became inconsistent around mid season. If they do better with that I can see top 3, the Manchester clubs are pulling away a bit after a season where they probably let themselves down. Then Everton have splashed out and could challenge the top 4 for awhile.

I'm quietly confident of top 4, but we have previous of totally collapsing. I'd take top 4 and a good first year back in Europe right now personally.

Some La Liga fixtures have been announced. The first El Clasico will be on December 20 at Santiago Bernabeu while the second one will be very late in the season, on May 6 at Camp Nou.

The upcoming season will be Atletico Madrid's first at Wanda Metropolitano, their new stadium which has the capacity of 68 thousand.

Too much negativity here. We won't do that bad. Remember Matic did f'all last season. Yet we won the league. This year we've got an upgrade in bakayoko. Morata we'll have to see what he can do. I'm not going to judge him yet.

F united, they're **** anyway. They've only signed lukaku. If they sign another decent player then Yh otherwise f them. Ain't worried about them.

City are spending well but they do that every year.

United signed Lindelof as well, but never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn.

Yh but I meant decent players. Otherwise I would've included Rudiger as well but they're nothing special. He could turn out to be decent but you can say that about everyone.

    I'm just messing about.

I'm in the middle of creating the thread for this season predictions and I am easily bugged. :p

*Going to wait for a bit unless somebody makes it before me. A couple of signings here and there might swing some votes.

Haha I love the confidence! Almost as much as the Man Utd bashing :p

Hopefully you're right. I'm a little more wary as there are 6 teams, possibly 7 all fairly well matched and 3 of them will miss out. Bakayoko is injured and will miss the start of the season and preseason where the hard work is put in. Even if he does hit the ground running, which is no guarantee as he's still quite raw and England can take time to adapt to, we still only have Kante and himself for the midfield two. How we're going to cope a whole season with European football spread that thin, I just don't think it's possible.

I definitely agree with you on Rudiger, it's a strange signing. With Ake, Christensen and Zouma in reserve, getting rid of two of them to sign him is strange. I could understand if it was for an elite CB like Bonucci, but I think all 3 youngsters have the potential to be better than Rudiger.

Kyle Walker taking some stick about leaving a great defense and moving to a 091 formation. :D

My crystal ball is showing some fascinating results about the upcoming season.

I think it was an amazing piece of business from Tottenham, Walker was their second best right back over the second half of the season! Trippier was incredible.

What's your crystal ball telling you?

Think Walker's decent, although a bit overrated in some quarters and massively overpriced but he is considerably better than Trippier for me. Overpriced doesn't really matter too much for a team like City, they desperately need full backs and Walker is a pretty good one. Their attack is already phenomenal so if they can get some good players in defensive positions and this keeper they got turns out to be good I think they would start the season as favourites and rightly so.

All will be revealed in the upcoming predictions thread. I have some credibility since I am the defending champion. Most points won overall. :p

Big news today is Neymar. 90% on his way to PSG.

Looking forward to hearing them then!

Yeah Neymar is a big one. PSG looked favourites to get Sanchez too. Wonder if that means City will get him instead.

Yeah looked surprisingly good considering it's the first real run out and Arsenal are further down the line in their preseason. I think that's probably the team that will play most weeks, with Hazard to come in being the exception.

Watching the Juventus-Barcelona friendly. Half time now, 0-2. Very nice two goals from Neymar. I still think he will stay in Barcelona. Even if he doesn't, Barca will be able to buy excellent players after that transfer.

Zidane says Cristiano is staying and he will probably be in Madrid for another 2-3 years. Go for 500 goals Ronnie!

Yh. I hope Fabregas gets a starting spot. The guys too good. Bakayoko and kante will probably play most games. They need get Fabregas in there as well somewhere. Maybe in a 352. In a 343 he won't play as many.

Yeah I think Fabregas is going to have a big part to play this season, he's going to have to. I can see Bakayoko's first season being one where he's finding his feet, kind of like Batshuayi last season who is obviously talented, but very raw. It took him till the end of his first season to start to feel comfortable and I can see the same happening with Bakayoko. Drogba was the same in his first year also.

Great news now that you mentioned it. As a part of the honeymoon I'll be visiting Skopje and will watch the UEFA Super Cup live. Fantastic! :) I hope Manchester United will bring a quality player or two before that match and bring their absolute A game. I want to see an upset.

Absolutely, that example sprung to mind also. Like the others, he looked to find his feet more towards the end of his first season and he'll go on to do great things, like Drogba did, like I think Bakayoko will do in the years to come. The immediate future of selling Matic and replacing him with Bakayoko concerns me a lot, though. It's not fair on the player himself either, failure to fit in straight away leaves us spread hopelessly thin. It's not giving him the best chance to succeed imo.

First trophy of the season then for Liverpool. You can count nothing trophies as a trophy these days to make yourself look better, learned that last season from somewhere last season.

And another one in Danillo, look to be sorting their full back problem out. How much is that they've spent so far? Over 200 million already...

My point still stands, competitive and friendly aren't the same thing. Both he and United have won the true Treble before so they couldn't care less about what people think of the value of the less prestigious titles they won last season.

The charity shield is a pre-season friendly. It's as much a trophy as the one Liverpool won yesterday i.e. not a trophy.

He definitely cared, he was very keen to try and push the "won a treble" angle to make what was a medicore season all things considered (quality of players already there, money spent etc.) seem better.

Bitter who's bitter? I can just taste the sweet taste of victory, a trophy. First part of an unprecedented quintuple or maybe even a sextuple. Who could be bitter with those possibilities?

Just like other domestic super cups it's not a major trophy but it's not on the low level of those international tour trophy thingies either. Fine by me if you celebrate that, but it won't be showed clearly in your trophy cabinet like all the shields, because they are not in the same league.

Mediocre season... What's next? He regularly parked the bus during it? Save some of the twisting and bitterness for when the season starts.

I wanted to watch the match, but the stream is dreadful.

Nice goal though. Martial showing the magic and Lingard in the right place to finish off.
That's what I need to hear. The optimism.

It's basically the same. At least pre-season tour matches have more than one match. They have allow 6 subs for one thing. That tells you all you need to know about the competitiveness of the thing. Obviously I'm not celebrating it really, didn't bother to watch it. It's just a joke you see as Mourinho kept being so insistent that the charity shield was trophy and thus he won a treble.

Considering the squad you already had, the amount you spent on investing it, yes it's a mediocre season. For bitterness about Man Utd you're about 4 or 5 years too late, back when you were good and had the best manager in the world, and Liverpool were struggling, I might've been a bit bitter back then, but now with spending hundreds of millions despeartely trying to buy back the League with the Portuguese Tony Pulis, less so. Should definitely have been looking to at least challenge for the League with that, you barely challenged for 5th. Two trophies is nice and a great season all factors excluded, but with the investment, the squad already there, the good fortune in draws and remaining teams etc. then it is not a great season.

Well we've challenged for the title. You haven't so in that sense no. Won a few trophies, sure that's nice but none of the big ones. But Liverpool are better now, they are closer to a title than Man Utd are now, that's what I was getting at.

Madrid had a stronger line-up in the 1st half and lost it. Manchester had a stronger line-up in the 2nd half and lost it.

    Barca, you're next. :p

Mbappe to Real Madrid is close, apparently.

Chelsea and Bayern was a pretty good game just, a much better test for the season ahead. Alonso and Moses were knackered after fulfilling their taxing roles so well all game, which is a concern going forward. It's such an integral position and you can see why Conte wants Sandro, even if Juventus don't want to sell, bringing someone in to compete/back up has to be a priority.

Sorry that we lost the final yes, that’s right. We played Sevilla, they played Ajax. That's the difference.

    gotta love Klopp. :D

    as if he cares.

he's mercenary simple as. doesn't give a rats **** about United or Everton for that matter.

i want to see him bag one against United though. it would be almost as glorious as fat frank vs the chavs. Almost.

    let's see...
    Madrid: 12 CL titles
    United: 3 CL titles

Madrid definitely up there - United however need to win at least a couple more, at the minute they're just not on the same league with the likes of Liverpool, Munich, Milan etc. sorry to tell you that mate :p

    yeah, a new ground.

they've essentially replaced lukaku with Wayne ****ing Rooney - I reckon they'd be lucky to finish in the top8 next season.

(sigurdsson would be a decent signing if they pull it off to be fair, still overpriced mind)

thought he was Manchester bound? :D ah, ronaldo using United to get that shiny new contract (& in this case get madrid to pay his taxes (!!!), never gets old. :p

tank a friendly for another glorified friendly? makes sense that o_O:D

The difference is Klopp lost the final... again. While Mourinho won the final... again. :D
The kings of two biggest leagues in the world with two biggest fanbases in the world. For sure Man United are behind some teams in Champions League but I'll be waiting to hear your excuse when they get to 5-6 titles. :p Based on that competition alone, Madrid are in the league of their own. Nobody is even close and that includes Milan, Bayern, Liverpool, Barcelona too.
Media has been transferring him back to Manchester ever since he left. :D If he did use another club for a bigger contract we know he is far from being the only superstar that's done that.
