I think it will be tight like the last Super Cup we had. Away goals might decide again. Excited but obviously wouldn't mind losing it if we end up winning other competitions.
Yes. Right up there with 1994 where Milan beat us 4-0, it was the finest CL final performance I have ever seen. That's when I stopped going to away games on a regular basis and also the last day I smoked. Can't describe you how much it has helped both in terms of finance and health.

    You remember this, surely. :p

Nothing happened yet. Coutinho is 99% staying in Liverpool, the other biggest whisper is BVB's Dembele. What I think would be better right now is to get someone in defense and midfield. Neymar wasn't very consistent last season so it's not going to be too hard for the replacement to raise the standard from the previous season. All of this criticism about the last season sounds hilarious a bit since we got to 116 goals in the league, a club record. But they weren't spread very well. Real Madrid know that feeling since they outscored us two or three times recently but finished below us in La Liga.

The moment at 2:52 is when my heart skipped a beat. That's how thin margins were between a good and an awful season.

    Bring on the next season!
    Stunning.

Man I hated you guys in 2011 more than ever. But I can't deny that you were so superior to everyone else.

Club record? LOL I had no idea that was the case. Barca's form last season didn't impress me either.

Yeah, I can't see it happening. City have the big squad that can cope with fighting for the League and Champions League, Pep has done it before etc.. Doubt they'll win it, but they should be the last team standing.

You never know though, Liverpool and Chelsea could be on course to miss the top 4 later in the season and put all their efforts into winning the Champions League. Kind of like what Milan did in the 2000's, Chelsea when they won but finished 5th, Utd last year (even if it was the Mickey Mouse version ;)).

Coutinho hands in transfer request. I'd say the 99% chance has dropped a few %.

hmmm Not so sure about this. Seem to remember hearing about Mike Summerbee back in the day, but never let the truth get in the way of a good meme.

Totally forgot about the game tonight even though I was talking about it earlier. Stupid Friday first night.

Plenty of goals to get us started.

I was watching my Jags get robbed against Celtic with a shocking last minute no penalty decision.

Great game to start things off!

Think I might watch Chelsea from behind the sofa tomorrow. Hazard doesn't look like being back til October, Bakayoko has a similar time table. No Moses or Pedro. So fitting a CB at wing back, an attacking midfielder holding in Fabregas and on the wing opposite Willian? I have no clue

Feels like they should just play the Benny Hill theme tune instead of having commentary for the game lol, what a mess.

Great to see several high scoring games on matchday 1.
Rooney has now been involved in 300 Premier League goals. 199 goals and 101 assists. Ridiculous. I wish he could break Shearer's record but his goalscoring rate isn't good enough and he is already past his best.

I'd have given him a very good shot if he wasn't an early bloomer. Pity because Rooney is such a complete player (plus I really never liked Shearer at all). At least he will get lots of minutes now that he is back in Everton. 230-240 EPL goals sounds alright.

Yeah, it kind of sucks because Rooney peaked in euro 2004 just before United bought him. On his way down since he was a teenager. I stand by that and have the facts to back myself up.

But no, he was never ever going to catch the great Alan Shearer. Rooney was never a stereotypical 9 anyway.

All jokes aside. I always think back to Euro 2004. I don't know, maybe I was hallucinating, but my memory on this stuff is pretty good. Seemed like he already lost a little step after the injury in 2004 when he came to United. Yes, scoring a hat trick on your debut is a good way to shut me down. :p He looked terrorzing before that. Yeah, he ended up with the England record and could still add to it, but there was a certain fire in Euro 2004 that you didn't get at other international tournaments. Maybe it was just the free spirit of youth. Whatever.

I'd say right now that Harry Kane has a decent shot.

What did I tell you? Benny Hill theme tune would of been more appropriate than commentary :p

I said as far back as January that we were in trouble (only move was to sell Oscar). We needed two good windows to get back to where we were 7 or so years ago, which has to be the goal. It was always a stretch to pull it off, but for it to of gone so badly wrong is disappointing.

I don't remember much from those Euros, sorry. ;)

I am watching Spurs right now, they lead 10 men Newcastle. As for your prediction, I am fine with that, if Chicharito is the one that scores for West Ham. Otherwise no, I want a clean sheet.

I'm just that confident in my mind that Rooney was the sh1t back then.I try and think back to then and know that he had something about him that he didn't have after the inujury. Really strange. But I'll give over now haha.

Chicharito should still be with United now. Terrible business. Something just didn't make me want to say 3-0. I'm sure we'd take that too. :p

But I'd take 1--0 of course. Pray for lack of wastage.

I think the injury he had against Bayern in 2010 and being forced back quickly ruined him a bit as well. He was having his finest season, did a fine job of being the main fan right after his buddy Cristiano left. Still solid after that but never produced the previous level again.

I was pulling my hair out when LvG sold Chicharito and especially Di Maria. It hurt even more when Jose said in one of the interviews that he would have never done that.

Maestro Souness considers United title challengers. Agreed with all he was saying there including long ball ftw. Leave the possession crap to Barcelona. :p

Mata starts. Yes. No sign of Lindelof.

Complete dominance from United so far. Surely Benny Hart will make an appearance. Of course, United will need to get a shot on target.

hmmm bring back old school diamond 442.

Goal for Lukaku.. United are different level. :D

You were predicting Chelsea would barely make top 4 or miss out on it last season. Look how that turned out. ;) It is surprising that the club looks badly prepared but there is still time for some deals, plus it's only one match. Lots of twists are coming as usual.

Haven't seen United dismantle a team that bad in quite a while. Not in a Premier League fixture at least. Could have been 7-8 to 0 too.

Oh well. Manchester United, Svitolina, Barcelona, Zverev. 3/4 today, I am pleased.

Real Madrid have been flawless ever since Zizou became their manager. Some help from the refs here and there but still they have been in crazy form.

And for the first two months I was proven right :p I don't think anyone in their wildest dreams would of predicted that winning run from September that went 3 month straight. It defied all logic, with Moses, Luiz being unrecognisable, Azpilicueta at CB etc.. up until then we were around 6th and deservedly so.

I was impressed with the heart and fight yesterday if I'm honest, the media attention has been scathing all summer, questions over how long the manager will be around, a bench full of kids, dodgy referee etc.. the effort was fantastic though.

I've just seen the Man Utd highlights. Lukaku scoring and grabbing the badge.. really? He's been there 3 weeks and he thinks he's Stevie G haha.

    lol.

Corbyn copy of last season so far - the media with their usual bs spin "Manchester clubs will be fighting for the title" as united fans lap it all up and to be fair I can't blame them , after all they havent challenged for anything of significance for 5-6 years now, it's taken its toll. :D back to square one celebrating home wins against **** poor sides as if they've won a trophy or something :p be brought back down to earth by Christmas like so enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Barcelona are absolute vermin - they've been tapping up our players for years (masch, Suarez & now Coutinho) ...only a couple weeks ago it was reported that Coutinho was happy to stay as he felt he owed the club/manager/fans at least another season. a week later his stance has changed to "I don't want to play for Liverpool again", I wonder why:rolleyes:. at the same time they're also trying to unsettle dembele ffs, smacks of desperation they know they'll be getting ****** left right & centre in Europe if they go into the new season without a proper Neymar replacement (don't give a **** either way though I really hope we get to play them at Anfield provided we get through hoffenhaim of course). looks like Dortmund won't cave in though and props to them I really hope we follow suit! they can have that Brazilian Spurs reject for £40m, yea that'll do nicely. ;)

haha yeah saw that too, embarrassing.... he'll be kissing it next week, declaring his love for all things United and his idol Alex Ferguson after the game on MuTv. absolute beaut.

You're the one to talk, even in the post-Ferguson era, United have won more than Liverpool. Unless of course your slippy 2nd place from 2014 and the Arsene Wenger trophy from last season are bigger than the Europa League and both domestic cups. :D
Yeah, how dare they search for a quality player after earning over 200 million from selling their own. They should put that in a piggy bank instead. Screw the reinforcements, a weaker squad than the one that failed both in La Liga and the Champions League last season is good enough.

context. United have spent more than £600m since Ferguson retired, heck they broke the transfer record last season. yet all they've won is a few cups (aided by incompetent refs & **** easy draws) whilst finishing 7th, 5th, 6th,playing literally some of the worst football I've ever seen in the process. 4 of them 5 seasons they were backed to challenge for the title by the media some even had them as favourites :D whilst Liverpool actually made a transfer profit last season! Finished well above United (+undefeated against the top 7) & could have easily challenged if it wasn't for Afcon, injuries etc. so yeah, it's all relative - for instance, if United had a positive net spent last summer I'd consider their season a successful one. in reality it was an average/decent season at best certainly no more impressive than Liverpools.

you're missing the point (again!). I never said they shouldn't go after quality players in fact I stated that if they don't get a proper replacement for Neymar in time they'll be in serious trouble. I don't mind them bidding for Coutinho I really don't, we've already rejected their bids anyway and basically told them to **** off with that FSG statement on the official site. What pisses me off is the ****storm that came after, Barcelona knew at that time that we won't budge and realised they had to resort to their usual dirty tactics - unsettle the player (the "it's now or never" bollocks as if they won't come back if he has another stormer of a season), tell him to refuse to play/force the move by submitting a transfer request (a day before our opening game!!!!), fabricate bs stories about his "strained relationship" with the manager (****ing ridiculous, Klopp must be fuming and rightly so) etc etc. was the same with Mascherano in 2010. that's a clear case of tapping up in the extreme but of course Fifa/FA will do sweet **** all about it.

should also point out the hypocrisy of it all, seem to remember Barcelona & la liga (lol) throwing their toys out the pram when PSG triggered Neymars release clause, aww poor Barca losing their best players for once, unlucky. :p
