Yeah, I am really happy about this. I thought my mate was winding me up when he told me. Then all of a sudden I had a look. Oh my goodness, he is back. woohoo.

Just thinking back to last season. Hopefully, there is a winners medal or 4 for him this season.

More transfer news. It looks like Barcelona will get their man. Dembele move could be worth up to 110m. Agreed in principal.

The Champions League draw is complete.

Defending champions Real Madrid will start their attempt of a three-peat by contesting the group of death. For the third time in the last six seasons, Madrid and Dortmund will play each other in the group stages. Tottenham will join them, as well as unlucky APOEL. Barcelona will play Juventus, the side that knocked them out in the previous season. Another titan clash is inevitable as Bayern and PSG were placed together.

The draw was kind to Manchester United and Liverpool considering they weren't in pot 1. City also avoided one of the big boys but will play Napoli in their group. Of all English clubs, turns out it's actually Chelsea, the only ones in Pot 1, that got the toughest draw. Atletico Madrid and Roma await, as well as Qarabag from Azerbaijan.

    Group A:
    Benfica
    Manchester United
    Basel
    CSKA Moscow

    Group B:
    Bayern Munich
    Paris Saint-Germain
    Anderlecht
    Celtic

    Group C:
    Chelsea
    Atletico Madrid
    Roma
    Qarabag

    Group D:
    Juventus
    Barcelona
    Olympiacos
    Sporting

    Group E:
    Spartak Moscow
    Sevilla
    Liverpool
    Maribor

    Group F:
    Shakhtar Donetsk
    Manchester City
    Napoli
    Feyenoord

    Group G:
    Monaco
    Porto
    Besiktas
    Leipzig

    Group H:
    Real Madrid
    Borussia Dortmund
    Tottenham Hotspur
    APOEL

I agree, tough draw for Chelsea. Atletico are always knocking on the door in the final stages, Roma are strong and who knows what you'll get travelling to Azerbaijan.

Looking forward to it though, it's good to be back!

Some excellent games in group stages already. Dortmund and Tottenham, can you please knock out the White Plague in group stages right away? Thanks. :)
In 2011-12, Benfica and Basel progressed to the knockout rounds at our expense. Yikes. :D

Rosenborg BK from Trondheim, the city I lived in for several years, has the same reason to celebrate. They didn't just beat anyone, they beat last season's Europa League finalists Ajax! 1-0 win in Amsterdam, now 3-2 win in Trondheim, coming back from a 1-2 deficit which would have knocked them out. Into Europa League they go. :)
I hope it was a quality game. Judging by the scoreline, it must have been nerve wrecking final minutes. Happy for your team. I see both of your country's representatives made it into the competition so congrats! :)

Wow!!! I just got home from the game. Amazing game, amazing atmosphere. There were tears in my eyes after the final whistle. After 10 years Europe will fear us again!!!!!!!!

I was out with my mates when the game was played. Saw the highlights when I came home. Insane 2nd goal.

Try finding a better goal in the entire Europa League qualifications than this one.

We got ourselves an emotional one. :p;) Did you and your friends make any great choreography? I saw your stadium before, it's BIG! The capacity is almost twice as big as the one where Madrid and Manchester played earlier this month.
    o_O Stunning.

Hopefully group stages aren't your limit. It would be good for everyone to avoid Arsenal, Milan and Bilbao.

Stunning depth in the squad, you'll handle it. :D;)

What's the situation with Diego Costa? Is he leaving or not? Do you know the reason Conte doesn't want to use him anymore? I think he has contributed quite well in his time at Chelsea.

There's still time! Who needs Neymar or Coutinho when you can chase Oxlade-Chamberlain for 3 months

As for Costa, I think it's a combination of him getting older, a history of injuries, can be disruptive and his ill discipline can cost the team at times. I agree with you though, we're a better side when he's in it. Morata is ok, he just doesn't have any kind of nasty about him. He seems quite timid and doesn't have the attitude or ability to do the dirty work, which has been key to the Chelsea identity over the last 10-15 years.

Paul Merson doing his usual winding up although it isn't really winding up. Saying that United are better without Ibra. More energy about the team. If Lukaku goes on a bad run and then crowd calls start messing with his mind. Meh to that one. 90+ million striker is not going to rot on the bench after going on a mini drought. He makes some good points.

United will be stronger with Ibra as part of the squad. That is the overriding positive about the situation.

Dying to start a new footy manager game now with the latest update.

    lol

Could do worse than the Ox. He could be the difference. I see that Arsenal has told him he can go after he rejected the latest offer.

Yeah his versatility would be invaluable. We needed a wing back in the first game, had to play Luiz and rush Bakayoko back to play in midfield last week. He'd of started both games for sure.

There's less than a week to go, so getting someone who can play 2-3 roles would be fantastic.

Borussia Dortmund's CEO Watzke said the clubs are close to an agreement but it isn't done yet. Young, talented, creative player, would be a good signing. But it's sad that Barcelona are now the ones spending a lot of money on players.

    Bloody hell.

96th minute goal for Sterling. City win 2-1. Fair play to them. Bournemouth had a good chance and got caught in the counter.

Pep is happy. :) Now bringing a sub on. 98th minute.

Sterling sent off now for provoking the Bournemouth fans. lol That is hectic. Let the man celebrate. Let us celebrate our good moments in life damn it.

5 minutes stoppage time and they score in the 97th minute. Are City becoming Real of England or something? Yuck.

Manchester United would have lost or tied this game the last 3-4 seasons. This is definitely a sign that they have a different aura about them this year. They're definitely my league favorite.

It's early but they're showing things they havent for quite a while:

    Scoring goals in droves
Beating, and not drawing, the teams they should beat
    Playing better at Old Trafford
    More cohesion and chemistry
Utterly dominating + ragdolling teams. Today could easily have been another 4-0 scoreline.

Tottenham is so bad at Wembley, Arsenal is a meme, Chelsea looks splintered a lot like they did the last time they had a season after winning the league, and City looks very mediocre. They might win the league for the simple fact all the other teams are looking like crap. I expect at least one to right the ship and contend though. Chelsea most likely.

That was ugly but it's good to break that bus. Hopefully everyone will be fit and ready after the international break, cold rainy night in Stoke awaits.

Lukaku with only 3 out of 6 penalties now. Time to give that duty to Pogba or someone else. Jose with two super-subs.
Manchester United beat Leicester by three goals both home and away last season. :D But good point, last season more often than not they dropped points in this kind of games.

Can't get carried away, last season started with three wins too. If this streak gets stretched a bit more one of the big rivals gets beaten too then that would put Manchester as favorites.

Yeah was moreso referring to just in general and knowing that Swansea and West Ham especially have notoriously taken pts away from United a lot these past few yrs. And United didn't just beat them, they crushed them .

Break the walls down, break down the walls.

I agree with the comments above. The way the game played out, it would be a game United could lose or draw. Penalty miss would have just been the icing on the cake, but not today. Good stuff.

Chelsea looked great today in beating Everton, the big spending hipsters pick to have a good season.

I think they played well anyway, nobody saw. What a treat Stoke and West Brom was instead  one for the purists, indeed!

They deserve it. I get funny when I think about a team playing at Wembley for all their home matches. It is sacred ground for the international team, cup finals etc ( and semis :/)

Looking bad. Will not win one match at Wembley. :p

It is easy to fix Arsenal according to the pundits. And that's why you're pundits.

The fix is to get rid of Wenger and endure a potentially long painful rebuilding process but Arsenal appear unwilling to go down that route so as the BBC report stated Arsenal's old all too familiar failings were exposed today at Anfield.

One of the main obstacles is that today in the premier league the interested parties demand and expect instant results so Arsenal almost can't afford to take a step or several backwards in order to lay the foundation for moving past their current stagnant level.

Asencio scored two goals tonight, this kid is gold. But it's a 2-2 draw with Valencia. AGAIN! For the 3rd time in the last five seasons at Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid and Valencia have played 2-2. And again, Real ended up rescuing a point with a late equalizer. First Cristiano's backheel, then Isco's long range shot and now Asencio's free kick.

The other two meetings in the last five seasons at the Bernabeu were hard fought 3-2 and 2-1 wins. And at the Mestalla Stadium Real drew one and lost two of the last three games. There is just something about this Valencia team that Madrid find hard to beat.

It's interesting, calls for him to leave have been going on for years. As you say, it will take time to build something new, but if he had of gone when he possibly should of, they'd probably be in a much stronger position by now, or at least on their way towards that.

You can't stick with something that isn't really working forever, just for the sake of change being difficult. What's that saying about insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome?

If Arsenal are happy with 4th and the odd cup win then he should stay, and there's nothing wrong with that. If they want to be what they were 10+ years ago, they're going to need to move on and give the new manager the same patience they've given to Wenger.

I've heard Arsenal were well in the race, until Wenger decided against it because of a £7.5 Million agents fee.

Who knows if that's true or the media making stuff up to kick him when he's down. Mad if it is true though.
