Poor Arsene is an easy target.
I see Alex ox Chamberlain is on his way to Chelsea.
Luckily I only saw highlights (lowlights?) of Liverpool v Arsenal. I heard he was abysmal in that game, along with everyone else to be fair.
It'll be interesting to see his attitude. Has the lack of heart at Arsenal rubbed off on him? How will he do with arguably the most tactically astute manager after playing for one who has no tactics? Will he throw his toys out the pram if he's at wing back instead of winger, which is part of the reason he wanted to move. Dropping Hazard to accommodate him doesn't seem on the cards..
I hear Drinkwater is close too, so not bad overall. We'll have to do well in January and next summer to make up for two pretty poor windows though, even one is enough to fall behind with the way the games going these days.
If City land Sanchez, a frontline of Aguero, Jesus and Sanchez is scary.
Was funny listening to Roy Keane talk about the current market value of players. Ruud and Beckham would be worth a billion, Giggsy would be 2 billion and Roy Keane would be 3.75 million. Very good, very good.
Not to mention De Bruyne, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Sane, Sterling and the 17 wing backs they got this summer!
To fit their best attacking players and a keeper into the side would leave what, 2 positions in midfield/defence to fill?
We could be about to witness the birth of the 1-1-5-3 formation
The Ox has turned down the move to Chelsea
Apparently he doesn't want to play wing back. I don't really blame him, he's not good enough to displace Kante/Fabregas/Bakayoko and I doubt he'd even get in ahead of Moses at wing back anyway.
He would of been a useful depth player, but it probably wouldn't of been a smart move career wise for him.
Shay Given is a free agent...time for him to return to Newcastle! . Seriously according to Given is that Rafa Benitez and Mike Ashley are not on speaking terms as Rafa isn't allowed any transfer funds.
I really thought this post was starting off with the Ox has signed. haha I still have a big smile on my face. Hilarious.
Wonder what he will do now.
Yeah but Danny Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request! I'm sure Koke and Saul are having a few sleepless nights thinking about going up against him in the Champions League
In all seriousness, I'm not sure what the Ox is hoping for. He wants a guaranteed position in CM or on the wing, Champions League football and close to £200k a week that's a combination that's never going to happen for someone decent but not great, even in these crazy times.
Looks like he could join Liverpool instead.
I'm a little worried about Liverpool.
You're sounding like me when Anderson and Fletcher took to the field. The dynamic centre midfield with Carrick and Giggs. Yeah, if he is looking that sort of deal then he would seem to be out of his mind. His stats are not that great. Of course, stats don't tell everything. As each year passes you just think he is another hyped English man. Or maybe it is just all Arsenal. They are so stagnant, nothing can blossum.
Renato Sanches has been linked with several big guns. It looks like he will go to Swansea on loan. I'd say good if it comes off. Might be one of the best options to show what you've got.
As much as I hate the international break, it is time to get back on the Northern Ireland bandwagon. No slip ups away to San Marino.
Haha I remember those days! What a difference to the United midfield at the moment. Pogba, Herrera, Matic. That's how you get it done. I agree about Sanches, he needs playing time and experience. Both of those things he can get at Swansea, also being the best player in a side with relegation a possibility is a big responsibility. It'll be good for him.
Yeah Liverpool are looking good, they'll be fun to keep an eye on tomorrow. The Ox, Lemar. Then there's City who will probably get Sanchez (depending on Arsenal getting Draxler by the sounds of things).
Then there's Chelsea looking to bring in the formidable trio of overrated, often injured Barkley. 74 year old Llorente and midfield general Drinkwater it's depressing seeing all these blockbuster moves and we fail in chasing average players.
Wonder who's going to come in for Mahrez last minute
Nice signing by Swansea getting Sanches on loan, West Brom did well as well getting Krychowiak.
Surprised with Spurs signing Llorente and selling Wimmier.
I think a few of the mid to lower table teams did well, definitely some gems in there and "bargain of the summer" candidates come the end of the season.
They say there are no easy games in the Premier League, guess that's even more accurate this year.
Northern Ireland keeping the dream alive with 3-0 away to San Marino. Good result in Germany vs the Czech Republic. All about Monday, pretty much.
Your boys are rocking it PS. England doing us no favors as usual, hopefully they score again
Very impressive performance from Northern Ireland. 2-0 with only 23% possession. Evans and Hughes are rocks. Looking ahead now to the play-off. I'm sure that is where they will end up.
Scotland need to win out Slovakia at home and Slovenia away (unless some strange things happen elsewhere). Another gallant failure I fear.
@Noleberic123 @Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil Stunning goal from Kolarov. You guys are almost in Russia.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has accused Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City of "financial doping". Salty!
Financial doping. haha
Welcome back, club football.
5-1 away win against Metz for Parisians. 5/5 wins, 19-3 goal difference. Mbappe with a goal and an assist on his debut. Cavani with a brace. Neymar with another goal and another assist. That's 4 and 4 in 4 games for him.
PSG are going to be a hell of an opponent for everyone in Europe. I just hope Monaco can challenge them in France again, if they sleepwalk to the league they can afford to rest the stars for midweek European evenings.
A wonderful team they have, but Unai Emery's tactics turn to crap when his teams are down.
Maybe. On paper they're incredible, but that's not enough. You do need chemistry and a culture to be successful at the highest level, consistently. Everyone thought Man City would dominate when they assembled the best players in the world, but their quality only got them so far.
That's not to say PSG won't develop that over time, but I'll be surprised if they sweep all before them in the next year or two.
Sorry, that was not a red card and I say that as someone who really can't stand victim fc.
There goes their unbeaten against top 6 crap. Pity for today, don't like the sound of City being on top of the table, even if it turns out to be just a few hours.
No need to thank. Our president is pure gold. Even Bilic couldn't help but laugh.
And Real Madrid is on the verge of another draw...
How is that red card even debatable? Mane almost decapitated Ederson
Two draws in two Liga games at the Bernabeu? MUGS!
Haven't been able to watch the Chelsea game (they're never on TV for some reason, Burnley v Palace tomorrow though, woo!).
Morata seems to be doing well again. Wonder what Costa is making of it all, maybe his success and the way Costa has thrown his toys out the pram vindicates the decision?
Atletico draw with Valencia. Barcelona can now go four points ahead of both rivals from the capital. Early days but this is a more significant gap than it generally is in the Premier League.
Man City have now given me the fear. Pep must have looked at the results of that premier league prediction super computer or something. 5-0 against Liverpool. Bloody hell
United defending being exposed by Stoke. Looking hot going forward. A shame for the Stoke equaliser because that was such a great save from DDG to give them the corner.
Stoke, such an ugly side. Can't imagine someone other than locals rooting for that bunch, even with extremely skilled guys like Shaqiri playing there.
Jones' fall right before Choupo-Moting scored was hilarious. De Gea's magic in vain. Shame for the two dropped points. Bring on Everton.
They're horrible to play against basically! I remember them hacking lumps out of Hazard just before Christmas 2-3 years ago.
They're good for the league though I think. You couldn't pay me to watch them play Swansea, but everytime they're up against a City or any of the other big sides? They're more than capable of an upset and making things interesting.
That is why we have the cold rainy night in Stoke meme. Don't really think it has anything to do with the temperature or the rain. Not quite Tony Pulis' Stoke these days, but it is still Stoke. lol
Lukaku got another goal so not complaining about him. Just he had to drift out wide a lot and he was swinging the odd ball in to the middle of nowhere. Can still see why United were after Perisic because of the wings. I see he signed a new contract with Inter.
Exactly! When things start to hot up around Christmas and beyond, seeing one of your rivals have a game with Stoke coming up definitely peaks your interest. We won 2-1 with about 8 games to go last season (the game where Conte was swinging off the subs bench). Beating them definitely felt like a big step towards the title.
I had more of an eye on the game this evening than I did the Liverpool v City one earlier personally, you know there's going to be fireworks when they come up against one of the title contenders. So yeah, disappointing for United, but it's better to get it out the way now than have Stoke getting a result when points are at a premium at the business end of the season.
Are you a ManU fan? I wouldn't read too much into the Man C thrashing of Liverpool . If you look at Liverpool's results since Klopp took over he's lost a lot of games against on-paper inferior opponents because of the fundamental weaknesses in the team or weaknesses in the players' ability to play the game he tells them to play. Man C are not inferior but with the flaw Liverpool have an on form team can gain a flattering result. If OTOH Man C continue thrashing different types of teams then as a Man U fan you should begin worrying.
Nice 5-0 win tonight in the Catalan Derby. Hat trick from Leo, while Dembele made his debut. Came off the bench to assist the final goal, scored by Suarez.
Bring on Juventus. I want some revenge!
I support Man United. It was my first reaction to hearing the score. Impressive when you first hear it and then when you think about things, it is just one result. Not really worried about anybody else yet. More just about United. I really like the look of United now but also wondering if they are maybe missing one piece of the jigsaw. Think that is more disappointment at the minute because of the draw, even though it is still a decent result.
I agree about United. They look great, but there seems to be something missing, can't really put my finger on what though. I think all the top teams have a bit of a question mark to them though, so it's not a major issue.
I've actually been quite impressed by Chelsea, which has shocked me. All the warning signs were there, but it seems to be holding together for now. Morata and Bakayoko seem to of hit their stride when I was expecting it to take awhile, plus the bench looked a lot better today. Drinkwater providing an option in the middle, Zappacosta coming on for Moses when he got injured so we didn't have to put Azpilicueta there and re-jig the entire back line, last year that cost us 2 games out of the handful we lost, so if that's fixed, it's a huge bonus.
Now if we could get rid of these international breaks so we can find out what the runners and riders are really working with over an extended period, that would be great
I'd like better defense. Most of the center backs are good but prone to mistakes. But the one missing piece is probably the left side. Blind/Darmian are not as good as the rest of the team. Not sure what is exactly going on with Shaw. If he isn't played regularly or if he doesn't perform well when given the chance, that's the position I'd like to see us strengthen first.
i watched that..messi got a bit lucky, 1st of his 3 was offside..but that's football lol. dembele did a good debut, close control he had is a must for la liga/cl.
This thread is a safe haven at the minute.
Frank De Boer sacked from Palace after four games and no goals. Worst top flight start in 93 years.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
United vs Basel and Barcelona vs Juventus would have to be on the same night.
They put the PSG team up on the sky screen there. Tasty. I want to manage.
I hope we score several goals. Some unfinished business with Basel.
Roma-Atletico sounds like another CL derby, for the group stage standards at least.
The ultimate dream is to have goals raining like it's the case with Madrid, Bayern and Barca. Unfortunately those are simply rare to see in the Premier League.
Solid performance. Mkhitaryan is very skilled but also can be very selfish. The little improvements would make the team so scary. Fellaini's job isn't a beautiful one, but he's done it well again. Rashford with another debut goal, now in Champions League. Keep those goals coming, Stormzy. Hopefully Pogba's injury isn't big.
Are we going to have more goal per game machines in the future to join Cristiano and Leo? There is potential. Here is hoping they appear, we all want to see goals.
The only match without goals tonight. Brilliant.
Yeah, the selfishness is there. Can never complain when it comes off, but you see those moments when all you have to do it pass.
Aww, Scholesy is never in the studio when United are playing half decent football. lol Can't take much from the game. Jose showing why he is in the dug out and I'm sitting at home. Perfect game to give Lindelof a start, against the Swiss Glentoran. Not going to come down too hard on him. A couple of little errors even I noticed. Eh, still off to a good start.
Lukaku won me over quickly. Another game, another goal for the assassin.
Highlights program coming on now. Time to check out PSG and Barca.
Separate names with a comma.
