haha They were going on about his away appearances, something like one away game in fifteen years. Maybe I wasn't listening. Some disgruntled fans wanted Bellamy. The lady they asked said Giggsy is a wonderful appointment. He's a lovely fella.

 La Liga over snooker? That is improvement. :)

Looks like City ended their interest in Sanchez but Chelsea have shown it. His Manchester United transfer depends on Mkhitaryan deciding to go in the other direction. I imagine both clubs would be pleased with that swap.

    Stolen from facebook.

ON THIS DAY: 30 Years Ago - A Lord Was Born.

    - More UEFA Champions League goals (9) than Alan Shearer (7)

    - Played more FIFA World Cup Finals games than Eric Cantona

    - Has a better goals per game ratio in the FA Cup than Peter Schmeichel

    Happy 30th Birthday, Nicklas Bendtner[IMG]

Yeah, money is no issue for United here.

Strange one with Mkhitaryan. He shined brightly during the second half of last season, it looked to be continuing this season. Then he became invisible all of a sudden. He wasn't the only one. Wouldn't hold it against him if eh doesn't want to move to Arsenal.

Is it normal if I end up being angry at some pretty good player if he decides not to leave Manchester United? Yeah I am talking about Mkhi. :D

It is normal if it prevents bringing a better player in. Perfectly acceptable to have rage at HM for holding the great Manchester United back. :p

Of course it is. I'd kick his inconsistent wasteful a55 out right now, but that is more of an indicator of how much I rate Sanchez, not how much I am frustrated with Mkhitaryan.

If someone outside of the Premier League was competing with Manchester United for him I wouldn't mind on missing out but first it was City, now it's Chelsea. Sign him before the rival does!

I don’t think Chelsea are that interested really. £35 Million, plus £20 Million signing fee and £10 Million to his agent.. then £350,000 per week for someone who’s almost 30?

We need to do something about the striker situation (Batshuayi is close to leaving and Carroll isn’t the answer, but neither is Sanchez with those figures). I think the interest is more to make it look like they made an attempt to sign him for Conte, he’s rightly been unimpressed with the transfer dealing for some time now.

One of the most skilled, entertaining, charming, loved footballers of all time has retired. It was a joy to watch the ever-smiling magician all this time, and a big privilege to have him at Camp Nou for five years.

    Gracies per tot, Ronaldinho. :)

I honestly don't believe Chelsea are that interested in Sanchez either.

What is the 411 on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthijs_de_Ligt? Is he as good as Football manager 2018 advertises? The man to lead any centre defence for the next 10-15 years. Finally started a game on 2018.

Damn Real Madrid. I saw that Junior Vinicus is the hottest prospect in the whole game. Going to Real when he turns 18 on July. Looks pretty scary.

First loss since the Supercopa in August. 1-0 against city rivals Espanyol, late goal. That one stings. Luckily there is the 2nd leg at Camp Nou, it's still open.

£450,000 a week is the latest figure

The thing with Sanchez is that he’s been after a move now for what 18 months? 2 years? His heart hasn’t been in it and his performances have suffered. At 30, who knows if he can get back to his best after going through the motions for so long. Then again, maybe it means he’s ready to put everything into it and he’ll be incredible again. Could go either way I guess.

I do think that overall Sanchez was the best player in the Premier League in his first 3 years at Arsenal from 2014-2017, with a lot of goals and assists.

But his attitude and performances this season have been very concerning. And Chile's failure to qualify for the World Cup has also been an incredibly bitter pill for him to swallow.

Still he is a world class player and will add another dimension to Man Utd's attack.

I'd of taken Aguero and Hazard over him personally, also Harry Kane got 31 goals in 2014 too and has been incredible ever since. He was definitely in the conversation with those players a few years back though.

Aguero is the same age as Sanchez and Pep is looking to move away from Aguero, he's behind Jesus now in the pecking order and he might be moving on in the summer. Meanwhile Chelsea and United would be improved greatly by someone like Sanchez, even after the drama and his advancing years. I think that just shows how far ahead City are ahead of the chasing pack.

Where do you think he'll play at Man Utd, out of interest? His best years at Arsenal were as a "false 9" type, sometimes playing off Giroud in certain games. I can't imagine him being stuck out on the wing will get the best out of him these days.

    Totaal voetball from José :p

Oh and good news, Andy Carroll seems to be out of our league. We’ve now set our sights on signing 37 year old 3rd string Stoke striker, Peter Crouch

I wish I was making this up...

Regarding Sanchez vs. Hazard, I think that Sanchez had a clear lead over Hazard in both goals and assists from 2014-2017 and I thought that he was the more skillful and effective player. I understand that it's debatable there though. Even in 2014-2015 when Hazard helped Chelsea win the title comfortably and won the player of the year award, I actually thought that Sanchez in a weaker Arsenal team and in his first season in England was still the better player. Sandwiched in between those 3 seasons Sanchez also helped Chile win back to back Copa Americas and won the player of the year award in the 2016 edition.

Also a distracted Sanchez this season has probably still been better than a totally unprofessional Hazard was in 2015-2016.

It's a more difficult comparison between Sanchez and out and out strikers like Aguero and Kane. I would still take Sanchez overall (from 2014-2017) because his greater involvement in Arsenal's attacking player and goals over those 3 seasons than the other 2. He has basically carried Arsenal for much of the last 3 years.

I suspect that Mourinho will either player Sanchez on the left, or as an out and out striker if Lukaku continues to misfire. It will be interesting though. Apparently the main reason for the hold up in the transfer has been Mkhitaryan who will go the other way, wanting Arsenal to pay him a higher salary than he is currently on at Man Utd.

I don’t think the weaker team/not winning the league means that much. Hazard was comfortably the player of the year, even as a Chelsea fan, I feel Hazard is slightly overrated. He’s so skilful and beautiful to watch (which gets him a lot of leeway) but I don’t think he’s fulfilled his true potential. He should of been in the conversation with peak Ronaldo and Messi, but he’s not quite hit those heights. Still, he’s got a closer than Sanchez ever has, for my money.

Sanchez could well play on the left, I’d be interested to see him playing up top (which seems to be his favoured position these days). Mourinho likes his big, physical strikers though so it’ll be fun to see how that plays out.
