They were talking about the team of the year. I go along with those that say Paul Pgba shouldn't be on the team. Been involved in a lot our goals but you still can't count on him, inconsistent. Have a hard time including him. But the players obviously know better than me.

And hell yeah Mr Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Make saves and catch balls.

''Alisson has made such a big difference to Liverpool compared to last year. I appreciate how he has come in and how he has changed the backline and the confidence he has given to the Liverpool fans and the defence. He has made the big saves in the big moments. They have only conceded 20 goals so far this season. He is not as good with the ball at this feet as Ederson, but I like a goalkeeper to be a goalkeeper - make saves and catch balls. Alisson does that.''

I'm old school, Janice. If I want a deep lying playmaker on then I'll choose Pirlo, for Christ sake.

RIP Man Utd, Liverpool are here to stay, we could finish with 97 points. Even if we lose the last 3 matches it will still be among the best Premier League sides ever. and that itself is very unlikely. Liverpool will be here for a while.

I'm not too hopeful of the League now, but I am of the Champions League. but regardless Liverpool are one of Europe's elite sides and that will not change regardless of the last 5/6 games.

Unfortunately it's not RIP Man Utd as they will be back soon unfortunately as much as we might all wish that it won't be the case. They have too much money and too much history to be gone for long. Solksjear being the manager will help for setting them back but they'll sack him soon enough and they can throw so much money at the problem there's no way they are not coming back it's just when sadly, barring some very strange unforeseen circumstances.

They are ****ing **** at the moment though and that is hilarious. Sorry to all the sound Man Utd fans out there and some of you guys post here but I hope you have a miserable footballing time as long as possible (you've had it too good for too long, I was born and Liverpool literally stopped winning the league almost immediately, it's ****ing ********).
I like Liverpool in the Champions League, a lot. I’m on record as saying they’ll handle Barcelona convincingly. Probably not what you want to hear, jinxing it and all that! Looking forward to it though.

Yeah, Pogba making the team is ridiculous. I’d of had Neves, personally. Kante should of been in the conversation too, but too many pundits were clutching their handbags about him being played “out of position”. He still wins the ball back for fun, but he’s improved offensively so much. Passing is less of a liability, chipping in with goals etc..

He was player of the year with him being a liability at times, now he’s more well rounded he can’t even get in a first eleven? Seems legit

They could handle Barcelona convincingly at Anfield. But Barcelona could easily do the same to them at Camp Nou in the 1st leg, making it a lot more difficult. Over the last few years I seem to recall every big team who came there suffered a convincing defeat. They are a different beast at home.

Pretty much. Camp Nou is the greatest European fortress in this moment. 28-3-0 in the last six seasons, goal difference 96-15. It's clearly something that we rely on now, having suffered a lot of setbacks on our trips recently, and it has never let us down. Even when we needed to score six goals to get past PSG. One of many reasons why this tie is a perfect test, both for Liverpool and ourselves.

I have been very impressed by Liverpool this season. Seeing them progress wouldn't surprise me. In that sense this is already an improvement to 2018, for both teams. But our boys have a lot of unfinished business in this competition and have done very well in the big games this season. Underestimating La Liga's finest especially in those circumstances is not a good idea. More than ever before, I hope the usual heavy Premier League praise backfires. In both semifinals. Because El Grande Johan should be honored with the best possible final line-up. :p

Liverpool are doing the greatest league in the world proud, same with Tottenham. :p Looks like we all have different views here. I fancy Barcelona over the 2 encounters.

If only someone made Premier League proud in the previous years when Real were winning those titles after just crawling over the lines. Back then I wouldn't have minded if they proved me wrong at the expense of that La Liga team. Nowhere to be seen then, instead they look determined to do that now when we are looking pretty decent while Ajax are having a dream season. You Englishmen make me sick! :cautious:

I think bookies said Barca are slight favorites.

Then again I don't want to look at the chances they have been giving Ajax in CL games.

Liverpool with a five star performance against last placed Huddersfield, 5-0 in their last game before their trip to Camp Nou. I guess we have been warned one more time...

About Camp Nou, it's ready for tomorrow's party, the one I am extremely excited about. The boys just have to make sure they earn it on that date. Everyone except injured Rafinha has been selected in the matchday squad to face Levante, although the strongest possible line-up isn't expected as a colossal game awaits on Wednesday.

One more win, and the title will officially remain ours for another year. It's time to crown another fantastic domestic season performance...

Barcelona has not seen a trident so effective for a long time.
Liverpool can give the surprise in Catalan lands.

The league has been a great ride, and it's not over by any means, but let's get to the real deal, the latter parts of the CL. Sorry Pep.

1989 is still raw in the memory. Not only because of Hillsborough but also losing the league title so dramatically the way we did. But Hillsborough put it all in perspective that it is only game at the end of the day and not what Shankley so famously preached that it’s a matter of life and death.

Still having said that the league title would do nicely and with City losing to Brighton in the last minute and staying up.

Wanting the league more would be understandable. It's the Premier League obviously, a gigantic competition, and they haven't won it in a very long time. As rare as Champions League wins come for pretty much everyone, that night in Istanbul is not THAT distant, especially in comparison to last domestic success.

Inter vs Juventus tonight. Would like to see Ronnie sink them and drag them into a battle for CL places. Roma, Milan and surprisingly Atalanta are fighting for it too. Meanwhile Barca could confirm their title win tonight. I wonder how much they will celebrate, considering they certainly see the Champions League as the more important prize this season.

Many Liverpool fans will choose the league over the CL
And water is wet. I'm just saying, I'd rather be in our position with the chance to win both. We love the CL and it shows that the 'greatest manager in the world' ain't so great. We are kind of like, oh, we have this big cup to really compete in with the best of Europe. Something Pep could only do with peak Barca.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk. But the 'it is only a football match' is only there to be used for when a tragedy of some sort happens or when you fail. Of course, Hillsborough isn't just your avaerage tragedy either. But I go along with Bill Shankley. Football is life and death.

One of the worst performances of the season, I better not see any of that against Liverpool because it was horrendous, especially after the goal. But this is not the moment to be critical and analyze all the details.

Leo came off the bench to score and secure a 1-0 victory over Levante.

Was too occupied last evening. Not just because of the game and being in great company, but because there was so much celebration, fun around the whole city, even hours after the game, deep into the night. And why shouldn't it be. Winning the league once already means you have achieved something special. But when you retain it as convincingly as you got it back last year, when you win 4 of the last 5, and when you win an incredible 8 of the last 11... That means YOU are special.

L'extraordinari és que sembli normal

FC Barcelona are La Liga champions for the 26th time. :giggle:

Finally, for the first time since 2010, the title was sealed and celebrated at home, at our Camp Nou. The players finally earned a little bit of a break from the long, challenging league season and got an opportunity to sing and celebrate with us who have been supporting them all along. And after Leo lifted the trophy, everyone enjoyed the magnificent fireworks. As magnificent as the boys have been all season long in Spain.

Fittingly, Valverde sealed his 2nd La Liga title after a 200th La Liga victory in total, making him the joint 7th most successful manager in the history of Spain's biggest competition. Dream domestic debut season for Arthur, Lenglet, Malcom and Vidal, who keeps his personal domestic league streak going, as he has won it for an 8th consecutive season. Coutinho, Dembele and Semedo are two for two now. Umtiti is also a two time winner. Having joined in 2014, Suarez, Rakitic and Ter Stegen have now won their fourth. Alba has five. 4th captain Roberto celebrates for a sixth time. 3rd captain and vice-captain Pique and Busquets are on eight.

A team full of winners. But by far the most influential and successful player among them is the captain himself. Leo Messi has now won an incredible TEN La Liga titles, making him the most successful Barcelona player ever in this competition. With two years left on his contract, he will have Gento's all time La Liga record of 12 titles in his sights. Who knows, if he extends his current contract beyond, maybe even Giggs' Manchester United tally can be threatened. Here is hoping he will have more to offer beyond 2021 because what he can do, nobody else in the world is capable of. And that is great news for Barcelona.

The season is not over. Tough challenges are still ahead. There is Copa del Rey final with Valencia in a month, but a lot more significantly, there is a Champions League semifinal tie starting next week. Liverpool are coming to Barcelona. So much quality. Lord knows I have watched our boys all season and before to not doubt that they are capable of beating Klopp's team as well, in the 1st leg and on aggregate. But they will have to show up and remain focused the entire time. Champions League can punish you for smallest mistakes, and having been through a lot of frustrations in the past three seasons there, now is the perfect time to respond properly.

Don't know what will happen nor how I will react to the events there, but I am already thrilled that the boys have retained their status of the best team in the country, with the convincing style of how they won La Liga again showing that they have no intention of surrendering that crown just yet...

Visca el Barca i visca Catalunya!

City all over them but Burnley continue to frustrate. With survival already guaranteed, can Burnley push it? haha Nah, would not expect it. City already with more attempts in the second half than they had in the first. Only a matter of time?

I would have been dropped by now. haha United looked good in the first half hour, Bailly was making some nice tackles. Feel guilty for muttering take a shot about a second before Rutiger took a shot. Alonso pounces on the spill and United never looked like winning the game again after this. Chelsea looked better in the second half.

Big chance wasted. As unimpressive as Man United look, I think they would have done better in the CL next season than Chelsea will, who can't buy anyone for a year while they will lose their best player. Maybe some more as well, but Hazard is almost certainly leaving.

Happy for Tottenham that they will make it. They have had a poor run of league results in the last couple of months or so but they weren't punished. Combine that with actually competing for this season's trophy, they will enjoy themselves for a while at least.

Agreed. Chelsea in the Champions League next season is a waste of time. This side right now would struggle, imagine one who’s lost Hazard, Higuain, Kovacic and CHO (who says he’ll be ready for August.. from a ruptured Achilles? He might not play at all next season imo).

I think Arsenal deserve a spot, personally. They’ve been pretty consistent all year, but they’ve looked tired of late. Emery has had a good first season overall. He deserves the opportunity to add some quality to the squad.

Don't want United anywhere near the champions league next season. Not doing as crap as Chelsea possibly would ain't really a pull to me.

We've seen how United still needs a rebuilding since the great one left. Let's start rebuilding. But I will believe it when I see it. Might be 10 years from now. Yeah, yeah, Man United and champions league are big draws to players, that is why we keep signing mugs.

Not nailing the signings is definitely an issue. That’s what I’ve said about Liverpool and City, sure they’ve spent a lot, but so have all the big teams. They got the right players, which is why they’re where they are.

Man Utd keep signing crap players, whilst Chelsea sign good ones and then give them away (Salah, De Bruyne etc..).

As for the game yesterday, it wasn’t easy to watch. Felt a bit like two drunk, overweight, middle aged men having a scrap outside Wetherspoons. Even more so when it came to Lukaku  how can a footballer be so unfit? He makes Neil Ruddock look like Usain Bolt.

I was maybe being a bit harsh the other day. It's always easier to have a go at those closest to you. I think back to Di Maria, I was very excited for him. Same with Memphis Depay (he's upped his level being away from us, what a shock. Not ) Could maybe say that Di Maria was right place at the wrong time. But yeah, overall the signings haven't been great and I've no problem with them trying to work with the youngsters at the club. But they are hardly getting any time when money is being spent on player a b or c.

lol That is a pretty good description. Few stella and the xxxl full English to get peak performance out of big Rom. Could hear the commentators having a laugh about him being so out of breath. All so the metres run per game stat goes up a bit. Gary Neville was talking about how the paper reports have Lukaku on his way to Serie A and Pogba on his way to the hairdresser. But he was happy with what he was seeing for a while, a bit like myself.. Like I said above, I enjoyed it up until Chelsea scored. Then we kind of go into that lost without a clue stage again. Think we were fortunate to get out with a draw.

Anyway, some real football coming up in the champions league. :p

Sanchez is the one that springs to mind. Personally i've never really rated him that highly, i'm in the minority there. Even so, it felt like a bit of a desperation move. When you think City and Liverpool have signed players like Firmino, Mane, Salah, De Bruyne, B. Silva, Sane etc.. United could of had all of them if people were doing their jobs properly. They still all might of made the moves to the clubs they did, but not being on the radar for United is a concern. Then we've got Chelsea who let a couple of them go.. Both clubs aren't being run correctly, is the take home message I think.

Exactly right, I was half expecting the Chelsea tea lady to come on the pitch and try to break it up.. "leave it, Maurizio, he's not worth it!"

I see we're at that stage where clubs are starting to reveal kits for next season. I've seen most of the big ones, big fan of the Man Utd one. AC Milan and Liverpool have the best imo. The Chelsea one is crazy, which i'm happy about. It's not amazing but it's much better than the boring ones we've had the last few years.

Tottenham looks super gassed here at the end of the season. I'd almost make Ajax the favorite.
I like how both semifinals look nicely balanced even though several big teams have gone out early. Though I imagine the winner of the other tie will be a clear favorite against Tottenham/Ajax.

Wish Liverpool looked gassed too, but instead I see some people being confident in them going all the way. Barca better not disappoint on the rare occasion I want them to deliver. :cautious:

Fascinating game, football. After the quarterfinal draw was completed, what I was pleased about was not just that Manchester United were our quarterfinal opponent, but also that Barcelona can't play City or Juventus before the final.

Now, those two are nobody's concern, while the boys have an extremely difficult task coming up anyway. :sneaky: I hope they will find a way to postpone the full Premier League resurgence until next year at least.
