The team to start against Rochdale. You would have expected changes because it is the league cup but only two survive from the weekend. Wan-Bissaka and Pereira. Tuanzebe is the captain.

Romero, Wan-Bissaka, Jones, Tuanzebe, Rojo, Fred, Pogba, Pereira, Lingard, Chong, Greenwood.

Thoughts on Pulisic?
''Christian Pulisic is like a young Luke Skywalker.'' haha That is what former USA captain Alexi Lalas says about him. Great praise. I have only really seen the odd Youtube video of Pulisic. He doe look very talented. He had a good game against Liverpool back in their super cup match. Haven't seen much of him since then. I don't think he got off the bench in the recent match against Liverpool.

The manager said he will get plenty of time in the team this season. Feels like a wait and see.

@Feña14 could probably give you a better idea.

Burton and Bournemouth finally abandoned after the third power out. Burton leading 1-0. They shall be annoyed about that.

*Now they are saying to stay in your seats. The lights are back on. Wow.

Goal for Greenwood. :giggle:

He's not played much. If he does turn out to be good, it's going to take him time. He's still learning and nowhere near strong enough for the Premier League just yet. Even top players struggle in their first season in England.

He's looked great for the USA and pre season though, so i'm sure he'll be fine when he gets used to the pace and physicality.

Nowhere near strong enough...

In your opinion, EPL demands more physical strength than the top leagues in, say, Spain, France, Germany, or Italy...?

Not completely in my element here, so will trust your judgement.

Or do you mean general fitness?

I'd say physically, The Premier League in general isn't as technical or tactical, but players are bigger, stronger and the game is a lot faster.

Pulisic is still just a kid (only turned 21 last week), once he's matured physically we'll have a better idea of how good he can be. He's certainly not alone in that, Drogba had a rough first season with Chelsea for instance. Kovacic and Jorginho last year struggled at times in their first year (both playing much better so far). That's just using Chelsea as a example, most first timers in England take a little while to adapt.

The way this is going, Partizan will have a shot at taking something from their Europa game with Manchester United in late October. The one I am supposed to attend. Don't give me a bad first memory, lads.

Chelsea v United
Arsenal vs Pool
We got off with one in the first match of the season because it was the first Frank Lampard match in the league as manager. Chelsea now look like an entertaining prospect. Could be a 4-0 reverse.

Liverpool facing expulsion from the Milk Cup for fielding an ineligible player

Apparently Man Utd are praying they too will suffer a similar fate. Saves them getting hammered by the Chelsea under 11’s, that can’t be fun :giggle:

Might not be fun but at least I can deal with it. Chelsea has up and coming hungry tigers, we're just giving dodgy performances against all sorts.

4-0 though. Glad you finally came out of hiding after the 4-0. Missed ya. :giggle:

I think the tie is a month away, a lot can change before then!

I haven't watched much football at all this season, other than Chelsea. As i've said, it really doesn't matter to me if we finish 14th or 4th. We have no rivals to watch out for this season, watching Spurs or Arsenal lose doesn't have the same relevance as previous years. This season is all about getting the kids in the side and hoping they can iron out the inevitable inconsistent performances. Big picture!

Liverpool getting the bit of luck today to beat Sheffield United 1-0. Tough match, terrible error from the goalkeeper as he lets one straight at him go in. Yeah, Liverpool are firm favourites.

He also said he’s going to work the hardest so he’s able to play , Seems like a reasonable response. He just needs to step up , make the difference , He doesn’t even have tough competition
Yup, Lampard has shown that if you're good enough, you'll play. Problem is Mount has been incredible, Hudson-Odoi totally outplayed him on his first game back from a serious injury, one of Pedro or Willian provide the experience in a very young front 4, Faustino Anjorin is knocking the door down to get more playing time etc..

Pulisic just has to knuckle down and get up to speed, which he seems to realise. That's all you can ask for.

Decent reaction this week. Two La Liga wins in a row.

First a 2-1 victory over Villarreal at Camp Nou during midweek. Fun game in the first half. Excellent set piece for the opening goal, Messi delivering a corner and Griezmann got a header flick in off the crossbar at the near post. Arthur doubled the lead with a long range rocket that Asenjo only watched go past him without even making the effort to keep it out. Just before halftime though the Yellow Submarine halved the deficit as Cazorla was allowed too much space to approach, the defense is summed up perfectly when Griezmann was the one tracking back trying to block him. But it was a good long range shot, and Santi, who had eight ankle operations within a year and was out for over 600 days recently with his entire football career in doubt, got a standing ovation from the Camp Nou. Second half was forgettable, mostly due to Leo being forced out due to suffering another injury :cautious: and Ter Stegen was called into action more than once. But the first half scoreline remained.

The more satisfying result and performance was today, as Barca won 2-0 away to Getafe. Leo out, Dembele out, Fati out, but the team managed to register the first away win since April, as well as the first clean sheet in La Liga this season. Not what you would call a vintage Barcelona performance, but it felt like the boys were in control, not allowing Getafe much. Good result considering this team narrowly missed out on Champions League last season, finishing fifth. Ter Stegen ended up assisting Suarez who got himself one on one with Soria and chipped him for a late first half opener. Early in the second, Soria didn't deal well with De Jong's long range attempt so Junior, who is playing at left back in injured Alba's absence, tapped in the rebound for his first Barcelona goal. Looked comfortable holding on to the lead for the most part but Lenglet did a stupid thing near the end as he got sent off. Now with him suspended and Umtiti injured, it's inevitable that Todibo will play alongside Pique in our next La Liga game, which is a big one as Sevilla are coming to Camp Nou.

If there is one positive that happened from all these injuries, it's that some young talents have emerged. 16 year old Fati is already winning Camp Nou over with his displays, and his older academy colleague Perez is not too far behind him, working very hard and impressing as well. Clearly they are showing they can be counted on as the season progresses. Also, good thing Junior was bought as if anyone lacks competition in his position, it's Alba at left back. With him out, there was no need to place Roberto or anyone else there where they are not comfortable, but having someone natural there with some La Liga experience as well.

Atletico and Real played their derby this evening and it finished in a disappointing goalless draw. Overall Real had the initiative but there were few clear opportunities as I expected. For the third season in a row they delivered a 0-0 in one of their La Liga match ups. But this one is alright from our perspective as it got us a little closer to the top.

Nobody stands out. After Bilbao's loss at home to Valencia, Real Madrid are the only unbeaten team in Spain after seven games, however they drew three of them. Granada's dream start goes on. They just got promoted from Segunda in the summer but stand in 2nd place now, beating Barca, Espanyol and Celta all by more than a one goal margin and without conceding any goals in those games. Their next big test is next weekend as they will travel to Bernabeu in what would be the clash between the top two, unless Sociedad beat Sevilla at Sanchez Pizjuan tomorrow, then the Basque side would lead Real Madrid by a point.

Overall, this La Liga has started as tight as the previous one. Back then Sevilla were on top in November, but since that point Barcelona didn't take the foot off the gas for five months. It's going to be a lot tougher now considering the injury setbacks, particularly Messi not properly featuring yet as we are about to enter October, but wouldn't mind seeing that happen again. Regardless of what has happened recently in Europe, dominating La Liga is a big part of this generation's and the club's legacy and it's always one of the biggest goals.

For now though, the focus is on an important Champions League game on Wednesday. Going to host Inter. Hardest group as Dortmund are there too, so there is no room for any timing of form. And Conte's team are in great form at the moment, winning all of their Serie A games so far. Fortunately Slavia got a draw at Meazza two weeks ago so we are all at one point now...

I do find it hard to believe that Pulisic isn't fully ready for the English game he's doing better than a lot of foreign signings.

Leicester is on a mission for Top 4. West ham and Bournemouth aren’t far , But I will put my money on Leicester
Yeah, I would have them as legit top four contenders at the moment. United would be far off those thoughts. Mystic Merson was talking about Leicester and United yesterday. Pretty much saying that Brendan Rodgers is awesome. And he is. Beautiful human being. But his point was we are stuck with Ole while Brendan could have made United contenders. But then he said unlikely because he managed Liverpool. lol

I thought Chelsea was going to have a complete collapse , But they’re doing fine considering their situation. Also their academy players are stepping up with Mount , Abraham and now CHO , Reece coming back who seem to be promising
I thought the same. I was expecting glimmers of promise, but lots of tough lessons. There haven't been too many so far, and they have learnt quickly from the ones they have had. Tomori is probably the biggest surprise to me so far, in the space of a month he's become the top CB. Mount is a close second, the drop off from losing Hazard just hasn't been there. He's been that good.

Credit to Lampard too for what he's been doing with the older players. Jorginho and Kovacic have both been incredible.

Defensive calamity lets in Son. 1-0 Spurs.

The lead didn't last long. Spurs having trouble clearing the danger and Kimmich launches the beautiful strike.

Sit down, Spurs!
