How do you find a good center back these days though? Liverpool won the lottery with Van Dijk. Ramos is way too old and injury prone now to become the long term game changer at the back. Perhaps kidnap Pep and his scouts and ask them where they look for gems? I heard they have become impenetrable at the back.

Can just imagine it. Your all time favorite player at United. lol Doesn't fit the bill for what United seem to go for these days. Of course, neither was Cavani. I guess it depends who you are. I would have loved to have him. Not so much now.

For most of the first 72 minutes it looked like another futile trip to Anfield for Sargeant Pep and his friends. Then the electric got switched back on and it ends 4-1. The lone goal they surrendered on a PK.

Phil Foden is insane. For most of the game he looked like a top quality number 10, then at the end he decided he'd go peak Robben just for fun.

England are blessed at the moment in that position with Foden, Grealish, Sancho, Maddison, Mount etc.. Sterling and Kane too.

As for Chelsea, another good weekend with United, Everton, Leicester and West Ham drawing. Liverpool and Arsenal losing. They've gone from mid table to looking at top 4 in 3 games. Performance wasn't great again, disjointed up top and a mental lapse at the back has been the story of the season, whoever has been in charge.

Potentially! Throw in Smith Rowe, Saka, Eze too.

Just ignore the keeper and defence situation :p
A prime on the bench Mike Hooper would be the number 1 now. haha Ok, maybe going a bit over the top. Looks like that horror tackle from Pickford played a huge part in where the title is going this season. But still, this is looking really bad from Liverpool. That was a joke I made before about the style but now I'm starting to think that I was right.

I watched the highlights from Liverpool vs City. Yeah, Foden looked really good. Alisson lost the plot and we even had an error from Dias. Guess that is ok when you end up winning 4-1. It just made me think of Matrix Reloaded. ''still, only human.''

Shame you didn't see the post game, Roy Keane was on top form. Liverpool are "bad Champions", "another 30 years before they win the League", "excuses after excuses".

Micah Richards asked if he would take him to be his assistant manager at his next job, Keane said only as the kit man. He was enjoying himself.

''They are lacking a Denis Irwin out there.'' Yeah, I can picture Roy Keane having some fun. Can now just hear his voice in my head repeating excuses excuses as I mention VVD again. :D Settle down now, Roy.

I'll have to check it out on youtube.

Diallo is in the squad for the match tonight. I would hope he gets some real time and not just 4 minutes. Even better if he is starting. I'm not expecting that. But yeah, it feels like some progress. Struggling to remember, did Pellistri ever get in a squad before he was loaned out?

In other news. Real Sociedad are now Italian. :p Yeah, United have to play the second leg in Turin because of the covid restrictions.

Plenty of changes tonight. Still have Rio's nightmare partnership at the back. Merked.

Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles, Matic, Fred, Van De Beek, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford.

Diallo on the bench.

Total domination so far but the most important stat is the 0-0. A great save there from Fabianski.

I'll be fair to Goldbridge here. He was ranting about the McTominay on sub, but gave himself an out by saying if he is allowed to go forward then fair enough.

He went forward and we got the goal. (y)

Well that was an eventful game. Kudos to both teams.

Hopefully it won't be City again who get the easiest tie in quarterfinal as well. With their form now it probably doesn't matter but getting tired of cakewalks they have in cups.

Getting a bit weird at Spurs. Mourinho is fuming with Bale.

''Mourinho was made to explain Bale’s absence after the game and revealed the 31-year old was not feeling 100 per cent.
Hence, he made the call to leave him out completely until he was right to return.

Mourinho just had his best intentions at heart but it all quickly came undone with just three words.

“Good session today”, Bale wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of him from Tottenham’s training pitch with the bicep curl emoji.''

:D The bicep curl is just amazing.

Chelsea even more boring now than back in the Mourinho days
The football was good in the Mourinho days imo. Robben, Duff and Cole, Gudjohnsen and Drogba, all action midfielder in Lampard, a masterclass at the back. Tough to score against, let alone beat. I've always enjoyed watching football being played close to it's best, whatever the style. Maybe i'm in the minority but i've always enjoyed Atletico, who are very similar to that Chelsea side.

I have to agree about them being boring to watch at the moment though, nothing ever happens. The other side can't get the ball off them, but Chelsea do absolutely nothing with the possession. It's a shame because last season and up until December this year, Chelsea were must watch tv. Sloppy mistakes at the back but they had fun going forward and had no trouble scoring. Since the poor run in December and Tuchel coming in? It's not pretty.

City are hardly conceding chances let alone goals. This could end the same way 2018 did with United being their closest "challenger". Despite poor run of results in the last few weeks nobody *other than City obviously) has jumped over them in the table.

Liverpool are the biggest question mark to me right now. Is it just the case of injury crisis hitting them that hard or were the previous two seasons some serious outliers? All the virtues that they were known for has gone completely missing in their game during the last couple of months if not for longer.

Much as I dislike Liverpool I think it's probably just a case of VVD being out and other smaller factors like lack of motivation and hard to play without crowds.

I think VVD is seriously undervalued by a lot of people and he's by far the most important piece of the team. Even more than Salah.

the wheel nuts got loosen months ago when they lost VVD - only now indeed the entire wheel got off the rails....

Exactly. And any time Salah makes a normal good pass rather than trying to be cute - that will be the first time.

I don't think you can be that good for so long and it be an outlier. I'm really not sure what the issue is though, the injuries aren't ideal but their big players just aren't playing well or are out of form. I'd be inclined to put it down to something as simple as that, but Klopp is the one that's concerning me most. The complaining and bizarre excuses seem to have more in common with Mourinho in melt down mode than they do the smiley, charming, heavy metal football style we've come to know and love.

11 of our first 12 games in 2021 were away from Camp Nou. Yes, you heard me correctly, 11/12. And sadly, our hopes of winning a trophy this season are slim as well after losing 2-0 to Sevilla in the 1st leg of Copa del Rey semifinal at Sanchez Pizjuan.

But the league form and performances have improved. Now seven consecutive wins and unbeaten in twelve after beating Alaves 5-1 at Camp Nou this evening. Enjoyable football display from the whole team for a change. A young team, with Leo and Busi being the only over 30 players on the field.

Champions League is returning next week, and Barcelona will face PSG on Tuesday. They will be without Neymar, but they are still a great team, who play with less and less fear in Europe with each passing season. Since the expectations in Barca have dropped rapidly over the last two years, progress is not something we see as a likely scenario here. But the boys will try...

Edit: A special mention to our women's team, who are delivering unprecedented domestic superiority this season. Winning 16 of the first 16 La Liga games, scoring 84 and conceding 3, today they have won Copa de la Reina after a 3-0 win over Logrono in the final and a combined 14-0 score over the four cup rounds. Felicitats, noies. :)

Can thank the Everton keeper for Liverpool eventually falling apart. Klopp isn't much of a rotator, is he? That's not a dig. Most of the time you could pick the team for him. Virgil is the MVP, he got taken out, then his partner got taken out. Then they are throwing midfielders into centre back. Alisson turns into Taibi. Then boom. Mystery solved.

On to West Brom tomorrow.

yap, spot on. Not having Virgil (and Gomez, and often Fabinho) had a tremendous domino effect. Players had to be moved to differed positions - which made them weaker at pretty much every one of those positions. The right side of the defense is a sieve these days. Trent Alexander-Arnold was always a very offensive minded defender that was being exploited already - but now there's really no one to cover for his normal defensive assignments.

As far as substitutions and such. I am a bit surprised that they do not do that often. I mean at this point they may as well just aim for Champions League only, and save regulars more in Premiere League matches. I mean they are going to finish in top 4 anyway, right?

haha He was really cracking up. Then a minute later he was talking about how Bayern is in a different universe to us now. But yeah, I'm not agreeing with where he is coming from. Bayern is one of the best, if not the best team in the world.

Knows the league and the country, not many better functioning sides in the world now (if any...), relatively low pressure (won't be welcomed as some sort of saviour to lift the whole back line)...and can do "an Alaba" and move on in 5 years when he's in prime. With a Champions league or two to his name already. Shrewd business by Bayern.

The disappointing United performance becoming a regular thing again. Can't really find much to be positive about. :/
I was just looking at the table. If Chelsea win tomorrow they’ve overtaken Liverpool and are right up there with Leicester and United. How the hell has that happened!? Chelsea haven’t played a good game in 3 months :-D

As for United, I think they’re doing ok. They haven’t played well all season, with the exception of Leeds and Southampton. Comebacks early in the season, late goals, Bruno magic every now and again. It’s not really sustainable over the course of a season, but it’s better than most teams have managed so far.
