Who cares Man U deserves it

Btw it was Rooney who screwed you over, not the ref. He missed a glorious chance near the end by missing the net near side, off the goal kick (later in the play), commits a stupid foul (which he got carded for! woo), and Chelsea scores off that set piece.

If i were you i wouldn't be talking about the ref, i'd be talking about how rooney screwed you over in that game
I'm not blaming any players (unless it's John O'Shea).

Nick,

I swear to God... Spurs better start picking up some points, man, otherwise I might just do someting a little bit craaaazy!:)

Seriously... I couldn't begin to tell you of the torment involved supporting our lot. Should we lose to Arsenal, that would be bad enough, however it could be understood somewhat. But should we lose in forthcoming games against the likes of Portsmouth, Newcastle, that Polish team whose name escapes me now (UEFA Cup) and a few more, well, we could well be doomed to a season that revolves around a horrible relegation battle and/or the adjustment to new coach (although TBH I don't think Ramos would quit.)

FWIW though (and please feel free to call me a lunatic!), I personally think we'll eventually rise into mid-table mediocrity, and that Ramos will be given another year after this season to prove he has the cajones and the brain-power to make a mark in the Premiership.

R.

Well, you just won a round in the Carling Cup against Newcastle. 2-1 to your lot. Now, can you do this in the league? You have Arsenal this week, Pompey next week (a squad with the potential of Spurs should be able to walk all over them, especially after what happened to them today) and then Newcastle at St. James'. The question is: are you guys up to it?

And is Juande's english really that bad? I haven't heard him speak.

He doesn't speak! He let's his assistant Gus Poyet do all the talking.

What made me laugh was that Pavlyuchenko got a telling off for getting behind with his English lessons, talk about hypocrisy from Ramos.

Remember Ranieri when he first came to England? The Country were endeared to him with his desire to learn everything about English culture and football, he used to do post match interviews with an interpreter but he always answered the questions in English as best he could.

It comes across from Ramos that he doesn't expect to be here long enough to warrant making the effort to embrace the culture over here, what kind of vibe does that send his players?

You know Man U are back when...

Ronaldo dives like a little ***** in the penalty area to get a goal.
Classic Ronaldo. The little cheat can't do anything else besides dive.

Anyone see Chelsea today? I thought it was a little frustrating. They looked a bit plain at times, totally different from the Chelsea we've seen so far this season. The loss of Cole, Deco and Essien was very noticeable today, and I think Drogs needs much more time to get his touch back, I think he was a bit poor, he could have finished that first opportunity he had. Boswinga looked good, he had a good goal. Cole looked good when he got forward. Ballack was good too, but a far cry from some of his best performances. I feel that a few more matches under his belt he'll get back to it, and seeing him, Lamps and Deco all playing attacking mid will be incredible. I thought it was a good performance from our Boys in Blue, a very comfortable win. It's not, however what I've come to expect from Chelsea, who can and should have been able to score one or two more.

But hey, three points on the road is three points on the road. Sure, we could have played with a bit more style, but a result is a result.

What do you guys think?

Sick of this diving, Palacios's fall was pathetic.
True. I just really don't understand how the linesman/ref couldn't see him launch himself like a firework. Valencia's Goal CLASS! Although, I didn't think Ronaldo dived yesterday though I just thought it was a good tackle

Embarrassingly bad call, though you're right about how good Valencia's goal was. Hate it when a bad penalty decides a match like this though.

Yeah, a right back taking it on his chest and smashing in from a tight angle was brilliant.. but that Geovanni goal was something else. I loved Almunia's dive! He didn't move at all, he just sort of, jumped straight up and hung in the air lol.

Hey, Ross!

Sorry about what happened today. If you're off drinking away your misery, I can understand. 2 points from 6 matches? Wow, that's horrible. But who goes? Ramos? The Board? Levy? Camoli? I've heard people calling for Camoli's head as well as for the entire board (along with Dan Levy) to resign. What do you think?

What do I think?... I think it's a big s*** heap of a mess! And the recent actions of the board, Levy and Comoli, especially re transfers (and I'd go back to the foolhardy selling of Defoe, before the summer of insanity when we got rid of Berba and Keane without adequate replacement), puts them squarely in the firing line, as it were. And although I still feel a bit of patience is required with Ramos, he's paid a massive fortune, and it's high-time he earned it. Much more of this and one thing is for certain: heads will roll.

You're always going to have a problem when there's a director of football there making all the transfer decisions. Ramos has said Pavlyuchenko and Bent can't play together, as seen yesterday where Pavlyuchenko got taken off and Bent came on when you needed to chase the game after being 2 down. Why the hell buy someone who won't fit into the team? Also there's Modric, Ramos doesn't seem keen on him and he was an unused sub yesterday.

As for Ramos himself.. he has less points and games won than Christian Gross! The bloke that got appointed from nowhere in the '90's who got his tube ticket out in his first press confrence and talked about it being his ticket to a fantasy or something like that. I remember we smashed him 6-1 at Three Point Lane in his first home game.. good memories! ;)

Inter lost to Milan last night, and I am in a rage about it. Here are som of my complaints:
-Kaka was offside when he recieved ball that Ronaldinho would end up scoring
-Burdisso shouldnt have been sent off as only the 2nd foul was yellow worthy
-Ref was card happy, 0 players booked in 1st half for Inter, 7 in 2nd half
-Ref sent off Materazzi after he'd been substituted
-Flamini ran into the box and hit Adriano in the face with his arm and nthing was given
Inter were the better team, they attacked but did not score, but I guess thats football.

On a serious note, where are you watching Serie A this year? Channel 5 didn't retaian the rights for this year and Setanta were in talks to get it, but the fact it's streamed on the internet lead Setanta to pull out.

I found a website that shows every live game thats on tv from anywhere after I was searching for Inter vs Catania last season, it's a great site. Setanta have the rights for Serie A this season but aren't showing it, strange choice as its a constantly popular league and its been on Uk tv non stop since 94 I think.

As for FIFA09, not sure yet. I've played the Demo at the gaming lounge at my university, and I thought it was alright. It was different, but I felt the jump from 07 to 08 was a lot bigger. Of course, I went from 07 on the PS2 to 08 on the Xbox360, but the way the game played was still different. One thing's for certain though, 09 will follow in the footsteps of previous FIFA games and have an absolutely kick-ass soundtrack.

It is a really strange decision. As you say, Italian football has been on English TV for years and alot of people grew up with the Sunday matches. I think it would bring in a lot of new subscribers who are currently on the fence over paying for the package. Plus they could spend the extra money they get from new subscribers on getting Laura Esposto from Channel 5! ;)

What site is it you found? I've been looking round but i'm not sure where the best place is yet.

Fena,

Talking of memories, like the vast majority of us, I recall Chelsea as being an utterly useless, dreary team of nobodies for decades.
It's true.. we were actually in the old second division when I was young, we managed to get back up and spent alot of time in mid table but since the mid 90's when the likes of Gullit, Vialli, Di Matteo, Zola etc.. came we've gone from strength to strength. I remember we always used to take points of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd but we were never consistent enough to actually win the league.. there was plenty of cup success with League Cups, FA Cups, the Super Cup in 1998 (beating Madrid!) but you're right yeah.. success was few and far between.

Nice one! I'll have a look into it, I like the sound of having lots of different sports on there.

Yeah I wasn't a big fan of 07, there seemed to only be one way to score a goal on that game.. with 08, pretty much everytime you score it's in a different way to how you have before.

If i'm honest i'd of been happy if they had of just updated the kits, players, improved Be A Pro online and improved the graphics a bit because 08 was about as good as it gets.

Mini Champ's Lge round up

So, no great shocks then in the Champ.'s Lge last night really, although...

. Possibly Fiorentina and Juve might have been expected to do a little better?

. The 'superhoops' (sorry jonny, that's what this slightly mad, Glaswegan, ex-boxer who used to drink in my local always used to call Celtic!) had a terrible refereeing decision incorrectly awarded in Villa Real's favour (the words 'horrendous' and 'dive' spring to mind).

. Sound victories for Arsenal and Man U... which leads me to:

. Berbatov has chipped in with some goals a good deal quicker than Keane his ex-partner at Spurs has done with LFC.

. Talking of whom, let's next see how the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Barca, Inter, etc get on.

BTW, Unlucky to 9000tennis ... What did you think of the match?

Cluj with 4 points through 2 games so far in the Champions League, very promising start for them to at least get a point at Chelsea and get the slight lead on Roma. They should be able to defeat Bordeaux both times so it all depends on how they will perform away from home.

Other than that pretty predictable results.

I watched today. I wasn't the least bit surprised that Cluj actually have a bit of quality on the pitch. Considering what they did to Roma (and how easily they managed to do it!) I figured that this group won't turn out like we all planned. Couple that with their desire, which, IMO is second to none (they all look SO determined to hang with the bigger sides) and the fact that Eastern European sides are usually very hard to go to and win (crowd hostility, for example. Did anyone catch the stadium announcement that all English fans had to stay in their seats for another hour or so after all the Cluj fans had left?! Crazy!). We could be seeing something strange here, folks. Something very strange.
