Rangers have been awarded 42 penalties in the last three seasons.
Aberdeen have been awarded 21 penalties in the last three seasons.

In 2015-16, they were not in the same division, but in 2016-17 and 2017-18, Aberdeen finished above Rangers in terms of league position, reached two cup finals as opposed to Rangers' zero and picked up a total of 12 more points.

They are, by all metrics, a better team, yet they have been awarded half the number of penalties in the same time frame.

Gerrard's point is completely incorrect.

Ok and how much possession did Rangers average, how do the touches in the penalty area compare, how does the factor of playing against Rangers (a historically huge club in Scotland) and the way that might affect the way they approach it. Unless you actually go back, and watch every single game, tally up decisions going for and against them, you cannot know whether or not they get the rub of the green. There's far too many factors at play to know from the stats, unless you do some proper research and actually look at it game by game, decision by decision otherwise it's just speculation and conjecture.

To be honest, I doubt Gerrard knows, or cares particularly about that (how much Scottish football has he watched the past 3 years, not a lot I suspect except maybe an old firm derby or two at least until he was in the mix for the job). But one thing that I think we can be sure of, is that pretty much every club's supporters in the world think they get a raw deal from the ref's, so if you voice that view then it's a good way to get the fans on side, to endear them to you.

For the record I would suspect that Rangers probably do get more decisions their way than most others in Scottish football, it tends to be the case with bigger clubs. But that is not particularly relevant to this, neither is it the point.

Looking at bare stats, Rangers and Aberdeen both accumulated similar possession numbers last year (I would estimate that Aberdeen ended up with a slightly higher average figure) and a similar number of shots (I would guess that Rangers would have taken slightly more). They both seem to commit similar numbers of fouls, and receive similar numbers of corners. On paper, they are very similar teams. And yet Rangers have received double the number of penalties that Aberdeen in the last three seasons.

I agree that in order to come to a definitive conclusion, you would need to go in depth, but I think it's pretty clear to anyone who does watch Scottish football that more often than not, Rangers get preferential treatment from officials.

Yeah probably, there are a lot more factors at play than penalties and red cards. But as I said I do think Rangers probably are better off than most with decisions going their favour most big teams do generally speaking. However I doubt most Rangers fans think that, and it's hard to draw any definitive conclusions, it's not definitely incorrect so that sort of deflection tactics by Gerrard taking a bit of pressure off his players as well as nuturing a bit of siege mentality with the fans is a pretty smart move. I referenced him earlier, Mourinho used to be a master at this and people would be talking about him rather than the team and take the pressure off (he still does this but it seems to be more about shielding himself these days than his players).

In some Twitch broadcast, Dembele confirmed his commitment to Barcelona and said he is ready to play the Supercopa.

Arthur seems to be suffering from fever which is why he was absent from training. Vidal's chances of featuring on Sunday might have just increased. Meanwhile Mina and Marlon Santos have been isolated and doing some specific training as they are likely to be moving away from Barcelona. Andre Gomes could still stay until the January transfer window.

Over 700 locals should attend the spectacle in Morocco, while all the foreigners from other nearby countries will probably make it a less balanced match and more in Barcelona's favor when it comes to the crowd. Please let this be a one time thing. With all due respect to Africans, Arabs, Chinese and others, Supercopa is meant to be played over two legs and at participants' venues, not in a distant land.

If it wasn't for Griezmann's recent celebrations I would have never heard of that.
It’s pretty much a cultural phenomenon right now. Nearly everyone I know plays it.

Please don’t remind me of that.

Wanted to rip his head off when he did that against us..:D

Football video games were the only ones I found acceptable, and they only became relatively realistic recently. Occasional game here and there has been fun.
Pes owns fifa in the realism department.

Pes 06 GOAT. Although Adriano was a joke. His left boot was so OP that it made the 'Square button' the 'Goal button'. Anywhere within 45 yards, a quick fake shot and a tap of square and 9/10 you scored yourself a screamer.

I prefer Fifa myself but have enjoyed playing both back when kids had fun with it frequently.

That's what I am saying. There were some undefendable moves back then but that has shrunk considerably now...

The blue shell. It’s an item in mario kart that attacks whoever is 1st and pretty much destroys their chances of winning a race. It’s the ultimate kick in the balls.

I want to make a return for PES19. Been saying that for a few years though.

Adriano was put in PES jail for a lot of communities. Far too broken to be allowed to play in the gentlemen games. You are banned son. I remember Recoba being banned from some community. Good times.:p

I really like some less recent PES games but installing current season patches is a real nightmare, can't have full enjoyment anymore when many of today's stars are not there.

Hell yeah Higuain is a BEAST.
PES would be destroying Fifa if they had licensing. The only thing fifa has over PES is they have all the leagues and big clubs.

Playing as “North London” in PES can get irritating.

Chelsea are called “London FC” which triggers me.

Arsenal are the biggest club in London and should have that name. :p

Fifa's gameplay is pretty good to be honest. Can be hard but it's the way it should be in my opinion.

Fifa used to be really fun but it’s not fun anymore imo. Everyone just ping pongs the ball and scores ****ty tap ins.

Last time I really enjoyed fifa was fifa 12. Back when Nilmar was making me break controllers. :p

I had one of the Fifa editions many years ago. One of those were you only control a player. It is that time when it made me appreciate centre midfield more. I was put there and got a 10 rating. I didn't even feel like I was doing much but they sent me messages saying great passing, you owned the pitch etc. Yeah, amazing.

This is the peak for me. Maybe at my best at 5 because I was beating other players I couldn't before. Maybe they declined. Who knows?

Can’t forget Esswein in fifa 13..god almighty...

Makes Adriano in PES 06 look tame. There was a petition started and everything to get Esswein nerfed. It was honestly ridiculous how OP he was for such a low rated player.

WHAT IS THIS DOING IN MY RECOMMENDED TAB?

YouTube just assume that anything Arsenal related = fine but that’s not how it works! I should sue.

Youtube really likes to be funny with some of those recommendations for sure.
Struggling to picture you playing them, gramps. :D
 I am not 80, drop it.

Used to play a bit more when the kids were here and once they finished their work. Now it's down to maybe a couple of times a month or so with my sister or niece. They suggest it as often as me to be honest.

Sorry. :p I won't be doing it for a while.

I play PES occasionally when a few of us guys are at somebody's house and make fun tournaments out of it. It gets tougher to organize such a thing with each passing year but we usually manage it.

I watch those chiropractic videos sometimes, where they crack a patients back and he goes “crack addicts gonna love you!”.

Unfortunately, YouTube now thinks I’d enjoy watching some Chinese lady popping spots and removing blackheads as a result

Mbappé is a no, At least for the next 4-5 years if nothing weird happens like the Qataris leaving or FFP or they find a better replacement and want to get a lot of cash(That we don’t need) , Bayern said they wouldn’t sell Lewa for 150m and he’s about to turn 30 and Madrid is not going to buy an old striker

Mbappe is going to have great career.PSG won't sell him anytime soon.He is already a WC winner on such a young age.

Godin is the final centre back to be speculated for United. It's like torture man.
The happiest looking new signing I’ve seen in a long time! Usually they’re pouting, Instagram style.

lol Yeah, many signings look as if they're getting the passport photo done instead of sealing a big life changing move.
