Apologies to those watching Chelsea this evening.

They appear to be playing the Floor is Lava.. with anywhere within 25 yards of the Arsenal goal being lava.

We were 11 points behind 4th place when Solskjaer came. It's down to just 3 now.

Champions League football next season is not out of reach.

It is an amazing transformation. Was a dream to expect this after the way United started. Now I'm wondering what do United even need. Yes, I'm not saying the team is full of world class players but we always said there was real talent there. Now it looks like Ole has found the way to get it out of them.

Concede that a top top centre back would still be my priority.

I would back Manchester United to finish top 4 if it's a small deficit like this in mid March. They have Liverpool, Arsenal and City to play against until then. Plus you have to consider the other competitions. Arsenal and Chelsea are more likely to go deep in the Europa League than Manchester United are to do the same in the Champions League, which could have an impact. Safe to say it would be a very impressive rescue of their season if they secure participation in Europe's biggest competition for 2019-20.

Wasn't really impressed by them in the second half. But the improvement is evident in the last month. Pogba and Rashford in particular are looking more confident out there. And I kept saying throughout the whole period with Mourinho, they do have the quality and the positive is that several of these players look like long term solutions, plenty of years ahead of them. I feel that a strong back line and another quality midfielder would do wonders for this team. Liverpool are certainly benefiting from that this season, Van Dijk especially has been immense. It's been forever since the last time they were this solid at the back. Even in that season when they were close to winning the title but slipped, they conceded plenty of goals. That's not the case now, and that could turn out to be vital for ending their drought.

PSG really had no mercy today. Mbappe has now tied Messi in the race for European Golden Shoe with today's hat trick. Both players now have 17 goals in their respective leagues. Mbappe's ratio is better, though I imagine he will be rested more if PSG do well in Europe, while realistically they have sealed the league already. They will be nearly 20 points ahead of the closest chasers if they win those games in hand. Although Barca are doing well in La Liga, the luxury is nowhere near that big.

7th La Liga win in a row after beating Leganes 3-1 at Camp Nou. Barca did well to limit the visitors to very few chances, unfortunately they nearly converted everything they had.

The rotating was good. Messi and Rakitic were subbed in during the 2nd half, Vidal and Lenglet didn't play. La Masia product Alena played for an hour, while Malcom got a rare opportunity after Dembele was forced off the pitch.

Coutinho might have had his worst game ever, misplacing most of the passes and getting dispossessed several times. Dembele, who scored the opening goal, was fantastic, and unfortunately his game was cut short after an awkward slip and fall. Hopefully it's nothing serious, as he has turned into a very important part of our attack. Pace, quality dribbling, and equally good with both feet... This guy is going to be one of future's biggest stars.

Suarez scored what was a controversial goal at 1-1. Messi's long range effort was saved by Cuellar, and while Uruguayan scored from the rebound, he caught the goalkeeper after the contact with the ball. Could have been disallowed for dangerous play, but VAR just confirmed referee's original call. With that goal, Suarez is now tied with Josep Escola as Barcelona's 5th best goalscorer, with 167 goals.

Messi had a vital impact in his substitution appearance, as he played his part in Suarez's poacher's goal, while he sealed the win in stoppage time after yet another perfect combination with Alba. The left black was at fault for Leganes' goal and tends to leave some space behind that can be exploited, but it feels like all his contributions in attack, especially his chemistry with Leo, are usually worth that risk. Two assists for Jordi tonight.

Not much to complain about now. 5 point lead over Atletico and 10 point lead over Real both retained. Long way to go, but good form has been established. Next match is a tough midweek trip to Andalusia, as we are going to play Sevilla in the first leg of Copa quarterfinal. After that, Barca are visiting Catalan neighbors Girona, in a game that looked like it was going to be held in the United States. Now that it won't be, I am planning to drive to Girona for next Sunday.

Le derby was a very entertaining match today , It could’ve gone either way , Both keepers did amazing saves today , Lyon beats them again for the 2nd time this year with a last minute goal from Moussa Dembele

Great match from my POV at least , I guess Guingamp fans are unhappy , This is the difference between the 1st and 20th of L1 , Firts time we score 9 goals at the Parc , Last time we scored 9 was in the league winning match when Zlatan was here , I loved the intensity from the players.

Well there is a surprise. Kevin-Prince Boateng is expected to sign for Barcelona this month. Usually a midfielder, he's played as a forward occasionally as well, and it looks like he will be Suarez's back up. Can't see it being long term since Kevin-Prince is 31 himself. Weird choice...

Mostly remember him for his time in Milan, especially his great goal against Barcelona in Champions League group stages.

I think even the greatest Man Utd non fan has said there is talent there. Maybe Fred is that other midfielder. Going to shock the world and show me something.

Rashford might now be better than Martial. haha Nah, it's good to see them both producing. The talk about a stronger backline. Yeah, I still get jealous thinking of Kompany and he is so physically damaged, but he is a commander. Then you think of the other defenders.

Chelsea and Arsenal are both losing the plot right now. I will never be convinced about PSG until they beat us. Yes, great front line, Verratti to United for 8 years but now our front line looks good, midfield too. Everybody. Bring it on.

I'm the annoying school kid. I ain't scared of PSG, mate. I'll fair dig him after school.

They might rip United's shirts off and fair play if they do. But I'm not scared.

Why I'm saying this? Because I think I was scared before.

Martin Samuel was licking his lips during his latest rant against Chelsea.

Like I said, you know it’s going good when Chelsea are irrelevant to the media. After the Arsenal defeat it was the first time all season I’ve heard them spoke about on Sunday Supplement..

Martin Samuel and his friends are like that bitchy group of girls who give fake love to the popular people, whilst gleefully enjoying the bad times for the rest.

Chelsea are actually playing pretty well, I didn’t give them a chance in hell of top 4 this season. They still might not get it, but heading into the last few months of the season, they’re in the mix. The only real issues are no striker and Jorginho looking like he’s running on empty. I can understand that, it’s never easy for a first season player in England, nothing can prepare you for the pace and physicality.

I don’t agree with Sarri playing Hazard up top, but with Giroud and Morata? He doesn’t really have much choice. As for Kante being played out of position? He’s a liability in a holding position. Can’t pass, overrun in possession, the heaviest first touch going etc.. these people complaining do realise Kante played deep last year and Chelsea were worse last season? He was hauled off in the World Cup final too because Croatia were running rings round him and he kept giving them the ball back (after 55 minutes, in favour of Blackburn’s own Steven Nzonzi). I like Kante, he’s a specialist at winning the ball, he’s also an expert in giving it straight back.. I’m glad he’s at Chelsea, but the way these experts overlook his negatives because he’s shy and humble is ridiculous.

Yeah, the top 4 is wide open, well the 3rd spot is not secure because you're relying on Spurs. So maybe 2 spots up for grabs. The final spot is there. I'm glad United are back in the discussion.

I've only really seen Chelsea against United. It did all look to be going sweet. We had Mr. Souness cracking up because of reinvented tactics. I do see your lack of forward line. Been this way since the end of Drogba or am I forgetting somebody? You have got by, but I guess the outburst in Italian just makes it seem more juicy.

Yes, I am forgetting somebody. Not sure how I could forget Diego Costa.

Yeah, I don’t think many people outside of Chelsea fans have seen enough of them to have such strong opinions. “Kante is playing out of position!”, yet he’s having his best season. His technical ability is light years ahead of where it was. He also has the freedom to press and win the ball back all over the pitch, before he was stuck in front of the back 4 and limited. The problem in midfield is the most advanced position. It requires a Lampard/Ballack/Hamsik who can get forward and score. Kovacic ain’t it.

Same for the front line. “Why not play Giroud?”.. because he’s been abysmal. “Yeah but he did ok at Arsenal 5 years ago!”.. like that means something years later.

It feels like these journalists are ticking off buzz phrases, sweeping generalisations that they can pile on a club for. I’ve noticed Arsenal have had the same treatment, but I think they’ve done quite well with Emery. They’ve got a great forward pairing and the midfield is coming along nicely.

What did that Custis fella say on the Sunday Supplement? “What even is Sarriball? Keep possession, intricate passes and press high up? Hardly rocket science!”. Yet they cream themselves talking about Pep 10 minutes later lol. They’re just a caricature of contradictions these days, it feels like a sketch from the Fast Show in the 90’s seeing them round that table.

Kevin-Prince Boateng has joined Barcelona on loan from Sassuolo.

Weird choice, and I can't see him playing often. But, best of luck to him when he does...

I try very hard to like Antero , The situation hasn’t been the best with FFP but once again he fails to bring us another midfielder , This time it was a highly rated 21 year old who was supposed to be part of our future , He failed in the summer to get the midfielder Tuchel wanted and if he doesn’t get anyone in less than 10 days he will fail once again. Losing to Barcelona is not so bad cause they’ a bigger club , But **** man if he would’ve chosen us or City people will say that he’s going there for money , Now Barcelona has outpriced us with 90m bid and also a higher salary but they’re going to say he’s going to Barcelona for their history , prestige , project , Messi etc... I really dislike how FFP works , I prefer the french version

All about the project, Sir.

Yes, hypocrisy everywhere. No argument here.

I didn’t thought this could actually get worse , But Neymar is injured , I really really hope it’s nothing serious cause he’s our 10 , We need him , We need Verrati too and he’s injured for three weeks , He will probably do a comeback against Bordeaux three days before the tie vs United , Hopefully he’s ready too , In the last 5 days we loss our 2 most important players to injury and loss the race for De Jong , If you mix that with Nadal not winning the AO then i’m gonna need a few days cause **** I will definitely get depressed , 23 of January , 0 signings , Rumors we’re about to beat Chelsea for Paredes overpaying for a 25 yo midfielder from the Russian league but hey I guess it’s better than nothing

Edit: The iPhone I was supposed to sell for 120 dollars to get a PSG shirt just broke , Things can really get worse

Well, this is the biggest challenge of our Copa streak that started in 2015. Sevilla have won the 1st leg in Andalusia 2-0.

A lot of rotating tonight. Messi was rested, while Suarez, Coutinho and Alba were 2nd half subs. No Busquets or Ter Stegen, and Dembele missed out due to injury. Malcom, Boateng and Alena were actually Barca's front three. Didn't expect a good result, and sadly Malcom missed an open goal for the lead in the 1st half. It wasn't a bad performance in that period, although Sevilla were really superior in the 2nd half and deserved this win. A goal from Sarabia and Ben Yedder ended their winless streak against Barcelona that lasted 11 games.

Throughout this Copa del Rey streak, Barcelona have lost three times before. 2-1 to Athletic Bilbao in 2017, 1-0 to Espanyol in 2018 and 2-1 to Levante a couple of weeks ago. All these deficits were overturned without much drama at Camp Nou, but this is the most challenging task so far. Down two goals, didn't score any away, and it's one of the best sides in Spain. Should be a really fun 2nd leg to watch in a week, and I expect a strong side to be assembled for that one. But before that, got to drive to Girona during the weekend and support the guys in our next La Liga game.

In other news today, there is an official transfer announcement. Ajax's 21 year old midfielder and one of most wanted youngsters out there Frenkie De Jong has decided to move to Barcelona. He will join the club in the summer, signing a contract until 2024.

15482660086993.jpg

Regardless of how well he does, this is another huge recent investment that also shows lack of faith in our own youth. 75 million transfer which combined with the bonuses makes Frenkie the most expensive Dutch player, surpassing Liverpool's defender Van Dijk.

Good luck to the kid, who was just one of the fans three years ago. If he is even 20% as good as another Dutchman who came from Ajax few decades ago, he will be a success.

Fancy OleOleOle taking Arsenal out on Friday?

Really excited for a lot of our games this season.

Same here. I still have that just been introduced to football feeling after our recent games. Jose was right about one thing, the team has been left in decent shape for the next manager. Proved it a bit with this run we've been on. I can remember putting my best 11 together and wondering what position could make it better.. The way United were playing under Jose made it feel like 10 of the11 positions were needed to make it better. DDG being the only man worthy.

I know the magical run has to end eventually. Confident enough ahead of Friday.

Great semi final second leg last night.

Ultimately Chelsea were too strong for Tottenham and VAR.

Funny that, considering Sarri had lost the team and the media were gleefully mocking “sarriball” at the weekend. That’s the same style Spurs couldn’t get to grips with over both legs, right?

Anyway, Kante was incredible last night. His goal aside, the powerful runs and passing in congestion have improved exponentially this season. I’ve said for years he needs to improve in those areas, I didn’t think he had it in him though. Credit to both he and Sarri for it, they’ve clearly put a lot of work and trust in each other and it’s paying off big time.

True story, I had a Newcastle shirt with Ginola on the back of it. Yeah, that does seem quite weird. Guess I appreciated other football more when I was a kid. Just weird because I got the name put on the back of it in the Man United shop in town. Can kinda remember them joking about burning the shirt. lol

And yes, I had a Man Utd shirt as well. I wasn't a Newcastle fan.

So sad when you see more pictures each day of Sala. His sister on looking heartbroken. Can only imagine.

I was jumping to conclusions earlier when I read a report about the possible United team. Arsenal were on a bad run but maybe that ended against Chelsea. And with United on such a good run. Makes it a really interesting match.

Sanchez silences the stadium. :D

Lukaku has reinvented himself in double quick, double time. 2 fantastic assists.

Game on now. Arsenal get it back to 2-1. Can see Ian Wright was on the ball about Ramsey and Ozil.

Neil Lennon has either been sacked/resigned/been suspended or is taking a wee break/going on a recruitment drive. Or maybe he just can't stomach another trip to Paisley. Nobody seems to know what's happening, but something's going on.

In 9 days Neymar will undergo exams again to see what’s going on with his injury and try to determine how much it could take him to recover , Anyway it’s looking like Neymar won’t play the first leg vs United , Verrati is not back yet but there’s a chance he plays the first leg , Kimpembe is not back either but he’s getting ready. United is playing some good football so I hope Tuchel prepares the squad , He has 3 weeks for that
