Rest in peace to former Rangers captain Fernando Ricksen. It broke my heart to see him in the hospice all those times.

This is how I'd like to remember him.

PSG 3-0 Madrid

It should have been 5-0 , But i can take this. Di Maria 2 golazos. Bernat two assist. Verrati and Gueye fearless. The rest did fine. No Neymar , No Cavani and no Mbappe

Nothing to praise last night except Ter Stegen's performance that earned the team a point and Leo's return on the pitch. Such contrasting showings home and away in these last few years.

Thanks for an enjoyable Champions League evening tonight, Paris. :p

Seriously though, it was good to see him score after talking about him so much over the summer. A win is a win, I guess. :p Different side out there.

Only saw highlights from some CL/EL this week, was too occupied.

Planning to attend Man United's game when they play Partizan in Belgrade in late October. Really looking forward to it, as it would be my first.

Catastrophic display tonight, losing 2-0 against newly promoted Granada. What was a problem "only" in Europe in the last few years is starting to appear in La Liga as well. Three away games - a draw and two defeats, and all awful performances. Haven't seen the team this lifeless and without ideas in a long time. Breaks my heart seeing some of our recent manager choices, while City, a team that happened to win the lottery, also enjoy regularly attractive football thanks to having the best manager one could ask for today.

Good thing that Real are going through their own period of transition which makes the title defense difficult rather than impossible, but if this doesn't end up being a season to forget, we can count ourselves lucky. Because this kind of bad form is not something easy to turn around to such an extent that you can become a contender for biggest titles quickly.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. The team you have in August and September is rarely the one you get after Christmas :) think Man Utd in the 90’s, they’d only reach top gear after Christmas. The whole Liverpool/City title races where you have to be perfect from the first game and keep it going all season isn’t the norm.

It’s disappointing, but don’t panic yet ;)

What City and Liverpool delivered last season, that was actually the norm in La Liga between Real Madrid and ourselves for the most part of 2010s. Both reaching 90+ points on a regular basis. But not enough people watch our league to notice that apparently. No wonder everyone went wow when England delivered that kind of a title race for the first time. :p

This season is officially the worst league start for Barcelona since the introduction of the three points for a win system. Form can be turned around, and as I said we are fortunate that Madrid clubs aren't consistency machines these days either so nobody is going to be ahead of the rest by a big margin early in the season. Worst case scenario after five games is Sevilla being on top and leading us by six or Real on being top and leading us by five points. They play each other tonight. La Liga is becoming more competitive between the entire field again which makes a title defense doable. But I don't see this team making any impact in the Champions League this season. And maybe it's actually better this way, realizing the problem now rather than what happened last spring. Team functioning relatively ok, Leo playing one of his finest ever seasons and covering the problems, everything going according to plan, and then throwing it all away in 90 minutes...

Doom and gloom once more. United absolutely suck.

Greenwood, Martial and Rashford - all injured.

"Lingard is now centre-forward for Manchester United. :)sick::(

"You look at that spend, over the last six or seven years, of £900m - just a little less than Manchester City.

"And this is what they've ended up with? It's incredible. £900m is a hell of a lot of money to have no centre forwards."

It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. Boring football doesn’t count ;)

Maybe you’re right, it’s good to get problems sorted now before they linger. It’s actually been really enjoyable for me this season, Chelsea have no rivals, no pressure to win etc.. just trial and error, enjoy themselves, learn from mistakes etc.. I’ve not looked at the table once, it means nothing this season. When you’re a fan of a big club and need to win every week and put in great performances, anything less than perfection is disappointing. That can take the joy out of the game a bit, I think. Klopp said Chelsea remind him of his young Dortmund side, which I think is a great compliment.

Barcelona are obviously in a much different situation to the one we were forced into, but I can see why you feel a back to basics approach might be beneficial.

Liverpool just took the lead. Nice move and finish from Trent.

Mercifully no
I got home and had it on from about 40 minutes. It was all pretty grim. Sucks because you're thinking give Greenwood a chance, then Rashford comes off injured but Greenwood is not available. Martial out. Yeah, and it is hard to even be happy with the defensive boosts. Still conceding every away game. Toothless attack. Another season of ranting is coming. Let's pray.

Roy Keane signed up for sky. Yes, I know patience is the thing. But we've seen it for years now. Roy Keane saying it is sad, Jose sees no improvement from last season. I don't think anybody does.

Disgust.

"scary how far United have fallen".

"I don't know where to start," he said. "I was shocked and saddened by how bad they were.

"You can lose a game of football but everything about them... they were lacklustre, no quality, lack of desire, lack of leaders, lack of characters.

"It's a long way back for United but scary how far they've fallen."

Speaking later on Super Sunday, Keane said he felt several of the current United squad were just "not good enough".

"I've known Ole a long time - I can tell he is fuming, he's disgusted. Managers can back their teams up all they want but it's what they do on the pitch. We're talking about Man Utd here.

"I can't find any positives," Mourinho said.

What do you guys think of the FIFA World XI? Seems like a joke , 0 players from Man City , 3 players from Madrid(Marcelo lol , Modric and Ramos) and of course Hazard got it , Although i'm not sure if he deserves it either

Robertson was robbed. Real Madrid using their influence again.

I think Hazard deserves his position in the team. Got it done in a European final and was always coming up with goal or assist. I guess it is mandatory for Ronaldo and Messi to be there. Ronaldo still seems to be on top of things, I see the latest aim is to be the top scoring international. Crazy. Just haven't been following Italy at all.

Kimmich from Bayern hardly gets any praise too. I guess it's not really a scandal to have Hazard , But i feel like Bernardo Silva from City deserves to be there instead of Modric/Hazard.

Funny thing , Ronaldo was outscored by a 36 year old from a lesser team in Serie A.

Klopp winning the best coach is one I can't debate. The only choice. You can say some nice things about Guardiola, he did win the league and all. Just feels that Klopp is the cream of the crop right now. The man. Boom.

Hopefully the Ballon d'Or voters will take notes from FIFA and crown the same player as the best. It's appalling he hasn't been recognized by them as such even once after 2015.

Marcelo and Modric were well below their usual level last season, don't know how they got into the world eleven. Real got way too much recognition considering how catastrophic last season was for them.

The FIFA XI this year is a complete joke.

This is how it should be. IMO

Mane
Hazard Messi
Fabinho? B.Silva
De Jong

Robertson Van Dijk De Ligt Trent
Alisson

Mbappé > Mane , Mbappé had the 2nd highest goal contribution after Messi , That’s why he’s there.

Also even Sterling goes above Mane cause Mane has a 31 goal contribution in 50 games and Sterling has a 43 goal contribution in 51 games and they play the same position.

Another thing , You could make an argument for Ronaldo to be out , But it’s just very unlikely they enforce it , I don’t think he should’ve been Top 3 Best

Fabinho? I doubt he deserves it

The team to start against Rochdale. You would have expected changes because it is the league cup but only two survive from the weekend. Wan-Bissaka and Pereira. Tuanzebe is the captain.

Romero, Wan-Bissaka, Jones, Tuanzebe, Rojo, Fred, Pogba, Pereira, Lingard, Chong, Greenwood.
