What City and Liverpool delivered last season, that was actually the norm in La Liga between Real Madrid and ourselves for the most part of 2010s. Both reaching 90+ points on a regular basis. But not enough people watch our league to notice that apparently. No wonder everyone went wow when England delivered that kind of a title race for the first time.
This season is officially the worst league start for Barcelona since the introduction of the three points for a win system. Form can be turned around, and as I said we are fortunate that Madrid clubs aren't consistency machines these days either so nobody is going to be ahead of the rest by a big margin early in the season. Worst case scenario after five games is Sevilla being on top and leading us by six or Real on being top and leading us by five points. They play each other tonight. La Liga is becoming more competitive between the entire field again which makes a title defense doable. But I don't see this team making any impact in the Champions League this season. And maybe it's actually better this way, realizing the problem now rather than what happened last spring. Team functioning relatively ok, Leo playing one of his finest ever seasons and covering the problems, everything going according to plan, and then throwing it all away in 90 minutes...
