Yeah I agree. I wonder how things will go for the other leagues.

Lyon will be taking legal action against the leagues because they didn’t got an european spot

I've always liked Lyon, they were everyones second favourite team 15 years ago (the Juninho days). I think teams are just going to have to suck it up though, the game is bigger than any one team, and the fight for it's existence as we know it is very real. I don't know what it's like in France, but over here I don't think teams complaining whilst people are dying would be well received. It would be a PR disaster for them.

If the Premier League is voided it looks like they will be allocating the European positions based on the UEFA Coefficient numbers.. which would mean Chelsea (currently 4th in the League) miss out to Arsenal (9th). Chelsea beat Arsenal in the UEFA Cup final last year, finished higher than them in the league last season (and higher 8 times out of the last 9 years). Still, it would be Arsenal in the Champions League ahead of Chelsea.

Doesn't really seem fair, but single clubs trying to promote their own interests when the world is hurting, and the game itself is in the position it currently is? Clubs acting like petulant 5 year olds isn't going to do anyone any favours imo.

Juninho has to be on the Mount Rushmore of free kicks for players during my time. I'd have Beckham there as well. Pirlo would be in the conversation.

I see the Bundesliga got the OK to start up again this month.

The league is the first of any of Europe's major leagues to be given clearance to resume playing, since the coronavirus pandemic took hold. Two of Germany's neighbours, the Netherlands and France, have ended their seasons. Matches in Germany's top two divisions can take place later this month, without spectators.

Good list. Ronaldo would be up there for spectacular free kicks, although I feel like he either smashes those 35 yarders that wobble into the top corner, or he gets it totally wrong and they end up knocking the pie out of a poor fellas hand in row Z :p Not the most consistent.

Alonso is probably the best Chelsea have had in awhile. Some left foot he has. I've always liked defenders who take free kicks and penalties, it's a bit old school.

Bundesliga to resume next week. La Liga planning to return in mid June. Champions League and Europa League scheduled for August.

It's going to be weird having football in the summer that isn't World Cup or Euro/Copa America. And quite depressing with empty stands too.

Tuning in to watch Bundesliga is depressing enough as it is. :p

It's a strange one, they've got some great players, fun teams to watch, probably the league that's most like the Premier League (style wise). I don't tend to watch it though, only other league I really watch is Serie A, which i'm guessing comes from it being the dominant league growing up in the '90's, the Channel 4 coverage etc..

Interesting the UK Government came out with that traffic lights thing today, saying sports can resume again when there's a vaccine and the rate of infection is essentially zero. Seems to contradict what they're saying regarding the Premier League returning in a few weeks.

40 page documents. It is progress, well, it feels that way.

I guess it all sounds a bit mad but when I was looking through the article and it says no slide tackles allowed etc. Yeah, of course you can still train without tackling but I wouldn't fancy it if you're just throw into match without proper preparation. Of course, that's just me thinking about the rules for now. Who knows where we will be in 2 weeks.

''Premier League players and managers were told that everything is being done to make sure they are not at risk when they are due to return to training next week,At two separate video conference meetings on Wednesday, players and managers were presented with the medical and testing protocols for the phased return of training.

They were taken through the stages by the Premier League's medical officer Mark Gillett and medical expert Professor James Calder, chief executive Richard Masters and director of football Richard Garlick.

Players will be tested at least twice a week, including in the 48 hours before they are due to train, and have mini-medicals to check for underlying respiratory and cardiac issues before they return to training.

Managers were told all team and coach meetings will continue to be done by videoconference and all data and video recordings of training sessions are to be made available to the Premier League.

Some players raised concerns about the health of their families and some are reluctant to return because they have pregnant partners or family members with medical conditions living with them.''

All players have been given a 40-page document on training protocols, and each club was represented on the videoconference meeting by their captain.''

Richard Garlick. What a name!

This coming Sunday (17th) was meant to be the last day of the Premier League season. That's where it ends, for me.

A bunch of out of contract players, players who were injured and missing the rest of the season now being able to complete it all like nothing happened, empty/neutral venues for 35 minute halves and 6 substitutes.. in July and possibly into August? That's not this season, sorry.

haha That was my first thought while I was reading this. What a name.

Harry Kane will be hot again. Maybe this has been too much rest for him. It's weird, I really couldn't tell you what month it is. It all just feels the same. But we're already at the end of the season. Wow.

Meanwhile I'm looking at the sky sports article titled ''which bundesliga side you should support.'' haha It feels like sky have this thought that the bundesliga is alien to us.

Well you did say that tuning in to watch Bundesliga is going to be depressing. Maybe the article isn't so bad after all. :p For the record I haven't watched much of it either since Bayern totally monopolized it.

I'm exactly the same! A few weeks back someone said to me "can you believe it was only last month that Dier jumped into the stands to confront the Spurs fans after they lost on penalties in the FA Cup to Norwich?". That was also the same day Chelsea beat Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Both of those feel like they happened 6 months ago, at least. Apparently not!

Yes I saw that article too. Chelsea were Monchengladbach I think. Both good sides in the 70's, young sides with a young manager looking for a Champions League spot these days. I seem to remember United being Bayern (obviously) and Liverpool being Dortmund (Klopp), Wolves were Wolfsburg.. which seems a bit lazy :p

Dortmund steamroll Schalke 04 4-0. :p Great to have football back!

Their youngster who is going to be one of the most discussed names in the summer Sancho looks like he gained a few pounds. I hope Hazard didn't go down that road given how he looked when he arrived in Madrid.

Thorgan looks like the better Hazard at the moment.

The Scottish league was ended today. Celtic with a record equaling ninth title in a row. ( They also won 9 on the spin in the 60s and 70s. I remember when Rangers were going for 10 in a row in the 90s.)

CHO arrested

It sounds like the all too familiar story of young football meets a model and carnage ensues. Pretty unsavoury stuff, especially when he shouldn't be meeting anyone during lockdown.

He wants to be careful, sounds like he's bought into the hype. I see his potential to be that of Zaha, a decent enough starter for a top 6 team kind of level. It's not exactly the type of potential that will get you chance after chance.

I was listening to Lamps talk about John Terry's full kit celebration. I thought it was hilarious at the time but was never outraged or anything. Yeah, he is far from my favorite player ever, but when you imagine what he was feeling after the penalty miss against United. Then not being able to play in the 2012 final when you are the main man at the club. Now I'm just wishing Keano did the same thing back in 1999. :p

Ian Woan seems to be the only name made public. Maybe because he is the highest one up since he is assistant manager at Burnley.

I saw the people who manufacture the test say it's wrong for every 1 in 80 tests carried out. I don't think it really matters though, there seems to be an understanding that infections are likely and they'll still carry on.

Watford seem to be the side with the most problems, half the team are refusing to train and they had the highest number of cases in the first round of tests.

Oh dear, this can cause some friction. lol Man Utd vs football manager. :X3:

''Manchester United are suing the makers of the Football Manager series for allegedly infringing their trademark by using the club's name "extensively throughout the game".

The Premier League side have taken legal action against Sega Publishing and Sports Interactive (SI) - the publisher and developer of the popular football management simulation.

The club also argue Sega and SI have infringed their trademark over their logo by not using the official Manchester United crest in the game, instead "replacing the club crest with a simplified red and white striped logo".

Manchester United claim this "deprives the registered proprietor of its right to have the club crest licensed".

FM has been using the club's name for eons why now. I guess you'll see Man Red in FM in the near future.

Looks like the time off has led us here.

Juventus is called Zebre on football manager 20. The Germany national team isn't in the game now. Of course, you can always edit it. Looks like the editing is the problem.

''Sega Publishing and Sports Interactive said they have been legitimately using United's name in a football context across all versions of Football Manager, and its predecessor, Championship Manager, since 1992 without complaint.

The two companies accused United of attempting to 'prevent legitimate competition in the video games field by preventing parties not licensed by the claimant from using the name of Manchester United football team within such games'.

United barrister Simon Malynicz, at a preliminary remote hearing on Friday, said that the club's name 'is one of the world's most valuable and recognised brands' - and also explained that the money teams make from licensing their names and logos was significant.

Malynicz alleged that 'consumers expect' to see United's crest next to the name of the club, and that the failure of Football Manager to do this 'amounts to wrongful use'.

Sega and Sports Interactive also 'encouraged' the use of downloadable patches containing replica trademarks, supplied by third parties, Malynicz also said.

United alleged that the defendants 'directly benefited from it by avoiding the need to take any licence and enjoying increased sales of their game'.

Roger Wyand QC, representing Sega and Sports Interactive, argued that the 'simplified' club badge used for United in the game 'was one of 14 generic logo templates that is randomly chosen by the Football Manager game engine each time a new game is started'.

Wyand also explained that copies of the game had been sent to a number of United officials and players for several years, and that 'there have been a number of positive press comments and tweets about the game by them'.

In the written defence to United's claim, Wyand added: 'Further, the claimant’s staff working in the data analytics and scouting teams have contacted SI on various occasions asking for access to the Football Manager database for scouting and research purposes.'

The case judge, Mr Justice Morgan, reserved his judgment on United’s application to amend its claim to a later date.

Back to more important matters. La Liga gets the green light to start again from June 8th.

Kane is feeling like he is 20 again. This spells danger for everybody. He has been out too long. Could end up being Jose's greatest ever weapon.

I see Novak Djokovic is getting a tennis series going in the Balkans from June 13-July 5. Nice.

Slowly, things are happening. KFC delivery again ftw. :p

Djokovic is going to play an exhibition where I live on 5th of July. Praying now that people will be allowed to attend that. :p There was a small crowd in a tennis match between two Serbian guys today so I have my hopes.

When Man United/Premier League resumes that's when things will officially return to normal.

Looking like Odion Ighalo has played his last game for United. I'd like to show some appreciation to him for leaving his mark in a short period of time. His loan deal ends on Sunday. He wasn't a failure or anything, but I think even in the current climate, 20 million for a permanent deal is too steep.

Rashford and Pogba. Yep, you read that right. Both of them will be back in training.

Sancho on for start of the second half. I like this. My sort of style on football manager. Goal down at half time then a change will be made, maybe 2. None of this waiting until 60th minute or anything. Gotta give him the full half.

Watching the Bundesliga in the last ten days, it feels almost spooky watching these games with no fans. I had the displeasure to see something like that three years ago when Barcelona played La Liga in an empty Camp Nou on the day of Catalan referendum. But health/safety first, and we will still get something more to distract us from this mess we are all in. Lord knows we need it now more than we have needed it in a long time.

Beautiful goal from Kimmich to win the game against Dortmund. The result itself felt inevitable though, and credit to Bayern for stepping up when they needed it the most again. Last season they were trailing by a lot of points, and they were in a similar position this season as well, yet they will win Bundesliga again. Was hoping a miracle Dortmund comeback would happen. After all, yesterday marked 21 years since Manchester's incredible turnaround at our stadium against Bayern in the Champions League final. :p But they have been the boss in Germany for such a long time.

As for La Liga, it's scheduled to continue in the second week of June, the Andalusian derby between Sevilla and Betis being the first game. Going to be more condensed now as everyone wants to get back on track, finish the Europa League and Champions League during the summer too and start next season normally. Our competition has been hit harder than other leagues by the pandemic as far as the title race is concerned. Barcelona two points ahead of Real Madrid, with plenty of lead changes until now. Finishing the season without fans to push the players is going to feel anticlimactic for not just the two great rivals but everyone else. But both contenders are motivated to win domestically, especially with our current European struggles. This break was a blessing in disguise in certain aspects, as Barcelona can count on Suarez now again. He was likely to miss most of this season but these unique circumstances will now allow him to contribute a lot more than previously expected. Same goes for Hazard in Real Madrid, though he hasn't hit the ground running there yet so he's a bigger question mark than even Suarez who had a knee surgery.
