Been hearing it is near enough a done deal in terms of negotiating personal terms with Jadon Sancho. 120m with 60+ up front and the rest in installments (allegedly). The good thing about this is Dortmund set their deadline so there can be no real messing about like the normal United deals. Getting Sancho in at the start of the window. This is the dream. Woodward ends up redeeming himself ninja Jedi style.

Lingard scores again. o_O United reserves win 2-1. Martial had to come off the bench and show the rest how it is done.

Quarter final with Copenhagen next Monday. Would expect most of the big guns to be back.

The return of the Champions League. :notworthy:

Alessandro Diamanti scored a sick chip in the A-League today, first goal in the clip. Second goal is not too shabby either.

Juventus out. Madrid out.

Happy for Lyon. It’s the best thing that happened to them this year tbh after the league ending early leaving the out of Europe and also losing the league cup last week

Pep's best European night with City. Well, I guess it is 2 nights if we get technical.

Manchester City were too good for Real Madrid and isn’t that a statement for the club’s supporters to drink in. The Spanish champions – the 13 time European champions – ousted from the competition they made famous after being beaten at home and away.

That has not happened to Madrid in both legs of a Champions League knockout tie for over a decade. After 18 games unbeaten in Europe when level at the interval, City have now done them twice in two attempts - adding another 2-1 victory to progress to the last eight.

Well, they did start the game well. It was a comfortable enough win. Was hearing how they are not up to the level of some of the rivals in this tournament. I really like the look of Bayern, not just because of Chelsea. I just look at their team. It's great.

Apparently Cristiano('s penalties) can't drag Juventus on his own while whenever we get knocked out our best player gets scapegoated. As our dear Paranoidandroid would say, levels. And big thanks to Pep and his team for taking out Madrid. You never know with them if they will find a way. And it was about time Zidane got knocked out after riding all that luck in his previous stint as Real manager.

Fortunately it was a mostly confident display tonight from Barcelona, winning 3-1 against Napoli. Nothing extraordinary but the team lacked even this level of performance throughout the season. Good set piece for the opener, Leo magic for the second goal, puzzling VAR ruled out another, while the captain won the penalty too which Suarez converted. 13 consecutive appearances in the Champions League quarterfinal now and due to the current circumstances, it's going to be over 7 years since the last time Barca lost a Champions League game at Camp Nou. 36 home games unbeaten. The last club to come out victorious here is the one we will face in the quarterfinals in Lisbon on Friday, Bayern. I just want to see good attitude and fight, given the respective states of the two teams, expecting a victory over them is totally unrealistic. But it's nice how an obviously declining La Liga has more clubs in the last eight than the Premier League, with Real not being one of them. :p

Having a packed CL schedule in August of all months feels so weird. Like having empty stadiums isn't bad enough. And it might take a while to return to normal. The virus has spiked up again over here, at one point playing tonight's game against Napoli at Camp Nou was in doubt. We pulled it off though, hopefully without any consequences.

Bayern will shoot them down.
:D

You never know. Not often that Barca go into games as the underdogs.

No matter their form, they are still Barcelona and they still have Messi. Do not underestimate them. :p

But yes, I would have to favor Bayern in the quarter final.

They have been a well oiled machine this season, and on top of that Lewandowski has been superb. Everything would have to fall in place for Barcelona to have a chance. And "I would not expect it". ;)

But Real Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool are out. If only Bayern eventually miss out too, this Champions League would get a passing grade. :p

Now if only our negotiators weren't stalling so much regarding Sancho. The more time passes the more I want him lol. Even though there is no guaranteed success.
Yeah, I hear ya. Looks like the usual cat and mouse with United. Feeling a bit worried because I don't know what to believe. I was quite sure Bruno would sign in the end. Hearing now that Dortmund have offered a new deal and Sancho is away with them on pre season camp.

We shall see. I'm prepared for disappointment. :p

Bruno penalty makes the difference. Way harder than it should have been tonight. Although Johnsson was keeping everything out.

Gotta do better than this against Sevilla/Wolves.

Always makes me laugh when clubs complain about the bigger/richer clubs ruining the game, too much money these days so they can't compete etc.. Doesn't stop them asking for ridiculous transfer fees though  Rice? £70 Million! Chilwell? £80 Million please. Havertz? We'll take £90 Million. You want Sancho? Let's call it £110 Million.

Then when those clubs go to spend their big wad of cash, the teams they're negotiating double the price of their players because they know the likes of Leicester or West Ham have £80 Million burning a hole in their pocket. Once it's been spent though, the artificial prices they've helped to create remain in place, but they don't have the money to compete.

It's the big clubs who have the bad reputation, but it's the ones in the tier below financially who are the ones who should take more of the blame imo.

I did not expect Juve and Real Madrid to lose but then again I don't know what form Juve, Madrid and Lyon were in.
Juventus was apparently in terrible form. From what I've heard, it seems that it was only Ronaldo who played well. I did catch the end of the second Lyon game and saw that Dybala struggling with an injury which may have had something to do with Ronaldo's lack of help. Dybala was great all year.

Neymar was wasteful all night but came up with two good balls at the end. Shame for Atalanta, they have had a stunning season, but PSG had a semifinal coming after all those close defeats before.

Having Bayern and City before the final, Barcelona should be kicking themselves hard if they get there and then lose it lol.
If it's PSG in the final it would be understandable. Another embarrassing loss to Atletico Madrid would be awful.

I know what you mean though. I saw how Manchester city play against Real Madrid, who were far superior to Barcelona this year, and am scared. They weren't that much superior to Real though, just a couple of big mistakes cost Real Madrid there. Bayern Munich is kind of a nightmare for Barcelona, but I am hopeful.

Neymar's talent is out of this world. With Mbappé recovered and, hopefully, Verratti can return, PSG can reach its crowning moment in Europe.
:)
Very true, but he must have been nervous or something today though. Couldn't finish at all. Even the equalizer was caused by a deflection from his mishit, allowing the easy tap in for #4. I can't remember what happened on the second goal, I think he did well there.

Ffs Atletico. Beating Liverpool in both legs and then losing to Leipzig? :X3::X3:

First time CL finalist guaranteed with Leipzig and PSG going head to head in a few days...

Whenever Atletico de Simeone's team loses it is good news.
Now it is PSG's turn to become the first French team to reach the Champions League final since Monaco did so in 2004.
In addition, it would be the first time in its 50 years of foundation that the Parisian club achieved that milestone.
Only Olympique de Marseille has been crowned the only French team to be champion of the most important club tournament in Europe.
Neymar's PSG is just two wins away from repeating it and I think they have a great opportunity to do so.
:D
