Bernabeu is being renovated. Real haven't played there since covid started.

I was wondering why Madrid seemed so 'meh' at home in the games I've followed this year. Even without crowds the Bernabeu magic is real.

What are your opinions on the renovations?

I know football fans are really superstitious when it comes to that stuff lol. I remember Tottenham/West Ham fans that were swearing the team would be cursed forever once they did it. But they full on demolished stadiums right?

Bernabeu looked fine to me the way it was. But if they want to modernize it. make it more comfortable and generate more revenue that's cool. From what I understand it won't have bigger capacity, but will add the underground parking car park, more shops, retractable roof, maybe a hotel in there as well...

Yes, White Hart Lane and Upton Park were demolished a few years ago. Arsenal's Highbury too way back.

A late Dortmund goal would be stunning here.

Summoning one of the mightiest comebacks against us while everyone wasted chances against them, then losing to Atletico after hyping up their precious Anfield throughout the whole second leg build up, now this farce against Real... Not to mention that brain dead goalkeeper they had decide the 2018 final... I hope Liverpool miss out on top four in the league. Terrible, terrible waste of a Champions League spot. (n)

City got lucky as well that Dortmund weren't level before halftime, looked like a legit goal was disallowed for nothing. So much for VAR helping the game move forward. At least that tie isn't over though so there is something to look forward to in next midweek.

I agree, that was a strange one. I can understand the ref giving the foul, but what was VAR thinking?

City will win the champions league. Haaland going easy on City, I hear. The first Champions League game he hasn't scored in this season. Welcome to blue half of Manchester, son.

Bayern and PSG is the game I've been looking forward to.

Meanwhile..... Rashford ready for Granada.

Phil Foden looks to be one of those overhyped Englanders. Hold on. haha That actually lived up to the hype. Can remember hearing so much when he first came through, how much Pep loves him. And you wouldn't even consider him first team regular yet. ''City have a better bench than our starting team.'' @Federer and Del Potro Guess who said that. I don't think you need a hint. :p

Haaland better go to City, the behaviour the last week has been a bit off putting. The whole tour of Europe? Meh, ok, I get that. His Dad and agent wanting £40 Million between them? wearing a backpack in City colours? Making sure the camera is on him to hear him say "this stadium is beautiful"? Cringey as hell... I've been to the Etihad a dozen times, it's nothing remotely special compared to the elite stadiums in the game. Good job he didn't visit Spurs, he'd probably still be humping the rooster on the roof

Bayern and PSG will be a good one, indeed. I think Porto and Chelsea could be a surprise too. Porto seem hungry and match up well with Chelsea. Chelsea have been over hyped and haven't played well since November imo. Tuchel deserves praise, but his record isn't as good as people think. He's won half of his games, lost once and drawn the rest. He was manager of the month in March... he won two and drew one, scoring 3 goals in the entire month. I'd say it's a 50/50 tie, especially on neutral territory.

MBappe with first blood. A nice counter-attack that I thought would break down at the end due to selfishness. But no, Neymar makes the pass. I'd say that was a soft one for Neuer to let in.

Marquinhos finishing like an elite striker. 0-2. Doesn't get long to celebrate his goal as he is subbed off because of injury he possibly carried into the game.

Gorexta subbed off for Bayern as well. Injury not confirmed but it seems like it. Too important to take off sort of thing.

Wow, Bayern really do live dangerously. United are not ready for this carry on. :p

Game on now. Can see the Marquinhos sacrifice already with the free header to make it 1-2.

I wonder if Harry Kane is watching this. Probably has a private conversation with Poch going on somewhere. Watching this football, bringing a forward on late in the game while already leading. ''Save me.''

Time for me to start dreaming. Draxler has just been that guy tonight. Very impressive.

Looking good for Chelsea. They lead 2-0.

Manchester United's record of 25 consecutive games unbeaten in the Champions League remains safe for a while. Thanks PSG. :p

What a contrast to their final last year. Bayern were all over them tonight but lost. PSG had a lot of chances back in August but wasted all of them. Domination without clinical finishing is painful.

Regardless of their loss, this high tempo that Bayern have shown yet again is something many others can aspire to. We also made it pretty back in the day, while they are simply brutal.

Still lots of work ahead of Paris. Hopefully Mbappe is ok, I saw him in some discomfort after the final whistle. Best player of the future era right there I think...

Bayern are so arrogant with attack and defence.

Interesting to see the starting teams in match 2. PSG minus Maquinhos doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. I wonder if Lewandowski plays.

Gun held to head I'm like Rio. Still expecting PSG to get merked in the next match.

That felt like déjà vu.

Beat Atletico over two legs in the last round, then their clone pops up for a go

Tough team to play against. Suffocating, tenacious, keen on using the dark arts etc..

Happy with 2-0 though. Mason Mount is just ridiculous, first touch Cruyff turn and second in the back of the net, incredible.

Yeah but social media says differently.

LOL Social media doing its thing. Can't rule it out with some of those counters. Bayern needing to score 2 no matter what makes it interesting. Definitely wouldn't place the family fortune on this one. :p

Nah i'm with you, i'd still have to back Bayern. It's hard to call though, their defensive high line against Mbappe is just asking for trouble.

I now see it 50-50 , Before I would give the advantage to Bayern. They obviously have all the quality to beat us. They can afford to rotate on Saturday because they have a 7 point lead at the top , While our game very is important , We can’t afford to drop points. We would’ve Paredes back for the next leg and we’re yet to see news on Marquinhos and Verrati’s recovery.

Should be another great game. I'm just disappointed Porto/Chelsea and PSG/Bayern have to be on at the same time. I had to make do with the highlights, and same again next week.

''Bayern played lovely last night. Man City are on a different level than us, but Bayern Munich are on a different galaxy. If their scoring and defending boots were on they would have won 6-3 last night.'' lol hmmmmmm, I dunno about all that.

I know Bayern didn't have their main man, but it is not like PSG went in full strength either Best midfielder was missing, Marquinhos had to be subbed off etc etc.

But anyway, time for Granada tonight.

Shocking that none of them have been booked while we already got three, with two of the guys now suspended for the second leg. Shaw and McTominay. Better hit the gas now before their sh1thousery can take over the game.

Maguire out too. Luckily a late Bruno penalty gives a cushion going to Old Trafford.

Roma with one foot in the semifinal too, coming from behind to beat Ajax.
