Andy is a monster at net. Good competitive match. I don't think he took it "easy" on the girls but he was definitely being gentlemanly and holding back with some of the poaches and smashes.

I don't think so! If I start holding back when I go at them I'm gonna be in trouble. Have you seen those girls play??? There certainly isn't anything lady-like about the way they treat me on the doubles court! ;-)

Team Blonde (Brittany & I) vs. Team Leftovers (Mark & Troy).

Team Blonde took the win 8-2.

The other match up has been postponed with a couple members out traveling this week.

Team Blonde, at least one 5.5, is playing good smart doubles.
Team Leftover's, at best 4.5's, are trying their best to imitate 4.5 women's doubles, staying back at all costs, no good volleys, no real movement at the net.

I probably do the same thing, so it's interesting to see just how much time Mark is spending standing flatfooted with his head turned back watching his teammate hit. Opposed to Team Blonde where both players when at net are moving the whole time and barely looking back.

I can only speak for myself, but the more competitive it gets, the higher my level gets. I'm enjoying getting back to my old form!

The beginning footage is Spencer & Andy vs. Troy & Mark and the second half is Chris & Granville vs. Brittany & I. Spencer & Andy beat Troy & Mark 8-4. I missed the match but heard it was some good tennis all around, just a bit more aggressiveness from Spencer & Andy.

It was a battle for us today against Chris & Granville. They really forced us to go to plan B, plan C, and plan D -- I can certainly say with confidence that they took my game style away from me! They were closing very well and it didn't matter how hard or how much we dipped or ripped the ball, the guys were like a wall at the net and we struggled to find a way through them. We went down 2-6 but weren't going to let the match get away from us. We changed our strategy slightly adding in the ever-so-trusty lob and were able to keep the guys from closing so tight and we clawed our way back into the match and forced a tie-breaker at 8-8 where the points were see-sawed again. We took a quick lead, then the guys tied it up at 5-5. Somehow we squeaked out the win 10-8 in the breaker and took the match 9-8! Great tennis, tough points, and as always from Team Blonde, lots of intensity but fun along the way! :)

After watching your video I'm just shocked at how hard you gals hit -- and often with impeccable placement! It's frustrating that most people watching your videos don't have a clue. You gals consistently hit harder than any people I ever play with. There were also so many touch shots or quick reaction volleys that made my eyebrows rise.

You gals/guys know what level you are. Those who rate you too low simply have never recorded their own play. Everyone looks a few levels lower on video. Kudos to you gals and really all of you at TW -- keep these videos flowing.

Levels are so subjective anyway. Some people gravitate to players who hit big, while some find consistency to be the key to success. To each their own, but both Brittany and I have played at pretty high levels in our careers, and we like to beat up on the guys every chance we get. ;)

Forgive me, I stand corrected.
Top of the heap Div1 women's is GOOD tennis.
I sometimes watch the UCBerkeley team play and practice, and you two are certainly at the top of that level.

Since you guys work at TW and likely not fans of watching yourselves play -- but I absolutely love seeing the TW staff videos. Christ y'all hit hard (and accurate). Saw some great lobs in there, too. Just wish the clips were longer or more of them. I'm sure there were a lot of nice shots/sequences that never made this segment.

No footwork? That's pretty much how I play all the time. Once I finally start moving my feet I might actually not be so terrible haha.

We played that match right after we got back from a tournament, and I can't speak for Brittany, but I was mentally drained and just out of it. Chris and Granville played the perfect game to beat us -- Gran loves the pace and has such great hands and Chris can scramble down any lob we put over Gran's head when he closes too tight. So after beating them twice, we lost that 3rd match against them, which took us out of the running. :(
