Z was a bit tired at the end. He's the one who had to beat the top seed yesterday after all. Also, he should be able to improve his serve with his height. If he can find ways to solidify his serving, competition beware!

Well, uuhm. You know this guy Fedr... Federorr... Federer. Yeah, that's his name. But I might just be grasping here
Federer is pretty to watch, but Thiem has a lot more variety on serve and return for instance. Thiem has running two handed backhand pass. Thiem also has a more frequent top power gear on forehand and backhand that Fed does not have (maybe once in a blue moon). We're soon to have a rematch on clay between the two R16 Madrid, so it should be a wonderful match to showcase some variety. Thiem looks like he's all power much of the time and heavy spin. You just have to catch Thiem in the right kind of match for all the shots to come out of the woodwork. Fed on clay might get interesting for both.

Did you mean 'one-handed' or have I missed that? Don't recall seeing him hit two-handed.

But Z has more room for improvement ;)
He certainly does, but its not certain he'll do it. Thiem looked surprisingly spry versus Sascha and I fear in the long run that Sascha may get too big. He showed some big ground strokes on occaision in the last few matches, but he really needs that goto weapon. The serve is becoming one, but he really needs a great forehand to make it to the top. If he can do this while still keeping his surpringily agile court speed through maturity he'll be tough. If he somehow manages to actually get quicker (as Thiem has done over the last year), Z could be a dominant number one. He's not taken the next step (which Thiem has done) to where his stats have him a step away from the top of the game. All signs are good, but the Coric sophmore slump could hit Sascha especially if the top players find a chink in the armor.

He has to improve his forecourt play a lot imho.. Clear weakness for now :(. Should be possible tho!
Also the speed moving forwards, movement on the baseline is ok i think.

His baseline game and serve are already really really good, and will get even better for sure. I just hope he fixes his weakness relatively soon, he then can start winning big time! :)

so do Germans look down on Austrians?
The snobbery & judgement in the photo is self-evident. :)
LOL! There was a time they used to get along pretty well, uh-oh... :p

Nah, seriously, München is about as close to Austria as can be, and half of its population moves over the border in winter time.
The Austrians return the compliment by visiting the Oktoberfest each year en masse. :)
