Delena is the real pair with real chemistry :cautious:

I donno how you people like Stelena.

Stefan and Lexi were a cool pair, Stefan and Rebekkah too, Stefan and Catherine too.....

Majority of people here seem to think Fed is still GOAT too. Don’t use the majority rules argument, bud.

You havent even seen TVD, how do you know Stelena is better ?

Reminds me of popular vs elite culture :sneaky:

lol ...

Reasoning for Delena being better is simple :

01. Damon (Ian) and Elena (Nina) were dating in real life, the chemistry can be seen on scree tbh
02. Ian and Nina both are better at acting than Paul, so are you suggesting that Paul had better acting skills in the show to sell of their chemistry to you? The dude could not even sell Silas, he is a 1 trick pony in acting.
03. Delena was the exciting pair from season 1, sexual tensions between damon and elena could be seen in scenes throughout the season, it was only a matter of time before they were shipped together.

That having said, I can understand that you and @Beerus find Damon toxic, so the whole idea of the he and elena is ewww ....

Because Damon couldn't have Elena and people love the bad boy/good girl rubbish.

Good girl ?

Who says Elena is good ?

She conspired with Jeremy to kill Kol just to finish his hunter's mark ... she backstabbed rebekkah ...she lied to elijah when he asked her what ester wanted from her.... there are too many incidents in the show when elena has been shown to be evil :D

If I was Alaric then I would stake elena first.

I'd like to preface this by saying that I don't actually scoff at Delena and people shipping it. I respect most preferences people might have when it comes to this stuff.

That being said, I find absolutely nothing attractive about Damon's character, and of course shipping mostly works in a way where you like the romance you could envision yourself in. Stefan and Elena's relationship was the most obvious choice for me (before Stetrine).

I get why objectively it might not be as exciting to watch as the more dynamic unpredictable development between Delena. And yet Delena made me feel nothing but annoyance. As Beerus said, it was the typical a bad guy wants a good girl who's immune to his charms, but of course eventually it turns out she likes him too. Also, the trope of a bad horrible guy being good for this one and only girl. Yeah, it did nothing for me. Stelena showed more real and healthy highs and lows of romance.

I also didn't scrutinize Paul's acting because I was too young for this ish. I don't remember ever feeling that he didn't do the scene justice, from showing affection to showing pain to showing being unhinged.

Elena was never the good girl, she is the protagonist of the show so the show revolves around her, so obviously it will look like she is good, but far from it, she has been manipulative in many scenes. She is shown as having a deep conscience but she does bad things in the shows that are questionable if you look at it from another person's perspective. Damon obviously is a very bad guy, I would say Stefan too is not that clean, the guy slaughters villages, keeps lists of his victims and what not, lol.

Nice people never end up with Bad people, I'll tell you who were good guys/good girls in the show.

01. Bonnie
02. Matt
03. Jeremy
04. Alaric Saltzman
05. Jenna
06. To some extent ... Caroline

Did any of them end up with Damon/Elena/Katherine ?

Only bad attracts bad.

Elena has been very manipulative on many occasions. She isn't all that innocent, a woman who hangs around with Vampires knowing they kill humans is far from being good, she is the source of all evil in the show and both the Salvatores are evil, at least Damon & Klaus are cool at being bad, they are officially bad, that is a good thing about them. No hypocrisy from them, LOL

Elena was most definitely a person acting in good conscience in the first and second seasons, which is when I shipped and semi-shipped Stelena. If she did use manipulation, it was in belief that it was for a good cause.

Lol, nothing about Elena is good conscience.

If your boyfriend is a serial killer then won't you report to the police today ? Or will you shield his crimes?

Reason why I ask this is because Elena went many steps ahead, her boyfriends were vampires who were killing town people and she was busy hanging out with them as if it is cool. Girls like Bonnie and even Caroline were skeptical of these vamps in the beginning, but Elena gave them the clean chit right from the beginning. She should have informed the Sheriff of Damon and Stefan and ensured they were burned. However he did not, so that makes her evil in the show.

Of course she is the protagonist and if she is so sane like Bonnie then there is no show, Salvatore brothers probably get staked in the first season 1 itself and show ends, lol. But I am just telling ya, in reality she is bad too, that is why she can be with Salvatores. Katherine is an antagonistic version of her, so that version is billed bad in the show. But then they are all bad anyway, the only good people are the actual humans who care for human lives and oppose these evil monsters (vamps).

Very refreshing to rewatch this show again.
September 2009 feels pretty ancient now, Peak Elena looking amazing, brings back good memories when I watch season 1.

There you go again, trying to sway the discussion into a different direction from what it was originally about.

Of freaking course if we talk about TVD like it was a documentary, and we judge every character's actions and morals like we would if real lives were at stake, then every at least semi-important character in that show is a horrible person not valuing human or animal lives. But thankfully TVD isn't a documentary. And I'm our Delena vs Stelena discussion, it's very clear that when I call Damon "bad boy", when he was actually a serial killer murdering people for fun, and call Elena "good girl", I specifically mean their character romance tropes and not my evaluation of them if they were people and vampires in real life. Just like it's clear that when you say you and majority of people liked Delena, it's not because you like serial killers.

Then again, it would seem you understood that we're not discussing these characters from real life POV. Given that you referred to Alaric, Jeremy, Bonnie as good when they did the exact same thing Elena did in terms of being buddy-buddy with serial killers. And yet you still chose to make it seem like I was wrong because I didn't account for something, when you also didn't account for that to make your previous argument.

You can never just let go of trying to prove that you're singularly right, so you will twist and turn, and pile on irrelevant arguments until we're miles away from the original debate. It's makes for a rather frustrating experience.
