Elena was equally popular if not more than Damon. Damon doesn’t exist without Elena.

No Elena was nowhere close to Damon's popularity. Most nominations for awards for the tv show characters always went to Damon. You have 0 knowledge about these shows it seems, lol elena more popular? ROFL...

I said equally if not more. I think your reading comprehension needs a revisit.

To be honest, I will call it a day if I have to watch a show like GG let alone worship its characters.

Girls/Women were horny for Damon, clearly.

Personally, I don’t care for popularity. I care for depth and complexity. Most people are mainstream with their cheap taste and what not. I mean, we live in the world of Taylor Swift after all.

No there is no equal there, let alone more.

Damon is a colossus of the show in terms of ratings, he carried the show on his shoulders, this is a known fact.

Girls were horny for Damon but Men were not horny for Elena, we loved caroline-rebekkah-davina-hayley etc more.

By the way, who are we to call the taste of mainstream public cheap? Are we connoisseurs of judging cinema/tv shows ? No we are not, if the world loves Taylor Swift/Katy Perry then that means they are great.

The show took a nosedive after Elena’s departure. Even I found myself disappointed and disinterested, but I felt obligated to watch rest of the nonsense.

Of course horney men opted for what they found ‘hot’. That’s not the criteria to define a woman truly. Rebekkah was annoying and insufferable. Our @Barton here hated Caroline, a man btw. Personally, I found Caroline very annoying but she became better later in the seasons.

Because most people are ordinary. That’s why they love Federer and hate Novak, because they don’t have the capacity to understand a complex character like Novak’s.

Absence of Elena left a small void and what if Damon had left instead and ELena was there? The show would not even have half the viewers left.

All this trolling won't help, we know that Ian Somerhalder was the highest paid actor of TVD .... that alone seals the debate.

Stop defending that trollop Elena, she was the worst thing about the show.

Collective wisdom of the public is unquestionable.

Serena was too tall to be really attractive and hot. Only short or average height guys would dig her or find her hot or whatever.

Now you will tell me who men should find hot and who we shouldn't ?

Don't be jealous of Blake Lively. She is a more accomplished actress than Nina. Real men don't love bones, we love meat, this is pretty obvious. You have a girlcrush on Nina, good for you, lol, but sorry real men don't rate Nina that high.

TVD is famous because of Damon, not Elena.

The plot is written around Elena, but why is Damon the most popular star running the show ? The show's female audience watched the show for Damon....why ?

Elena is nothing.

Serena Vander Woodsen > Elena anyday

Bitchy, so what? She was fun to be around. I watched all the seasons of GG. I found the high school drama interesting back then.
Bc Damon is the apex of late aughts male sexiness? Like how is this even a question.

I have no idea you are talking about. I don’t mind Blake Lively (she has 1 good film after all) and she’s definitely more accomplished than Nina, but I am talking about the characters here.

I honestly don’t give a fack about who you or men find hot. To me, the character Elena is far more interesting than the character Serena. Women also have their preferences and for that reason, I very rarely find tall women or women taller than 5’7” attractive, though there are some exceptions.

And I never really had any crush on anyone, man or woman, because I find it silly, but I do have my favourite characters and Elena is one of them. I have other characters that I dig a great deal like Thomas Shelby or Rick Grimes or Michael Scofield or both main characters from The X-Files etc.

LOL, we don’t know that but what we do know is that, season 7 & 8 were the worst of seasons. Nina was smart to leave the series by then.

Ian maybe the highest paid actor but Elena was the heart of the show. The only reason Damon did well was because horny girls/women found him sexy, but he had very little character depth and was a total failure after the series. Personally, I like both Ian and Paul as they both seem to be very nice people.

Anyway, since you like arguing a lot, I will leave you to it.

@Barton

I voted for Damon for two reasons ; 1)there was no option that said, I like both or a third option for Elena; 2) I wanted to balance poll for fun.

Damon caused Elena her highest pain when he decided to kill her only remaining family member, her brother Jeremy and it hurt her so much that she had to turn her humanity off. A soulless creature like Damon would never understand the pain of losing a loved one. If he had laid even a finger on my brother, I would have killed him right away. Sorry but you don’t kill the innocents just because your ego got hurt. I can risk my life but it can’t be others, especially innocents. So I always had very little reason to find him hot. I went with Elena because she was the best thing in the show and the writers knew it too and that’s why she was the main protagonist.

I agree with this completely. Tall women are not attractive to me. Also as a man, Elena > Serena. I had fantasies about Elena. Never about Serena.

And what makes you think I care whether you found Elena more interesting or Serena?

Please understand this -> We men found Serena attractive and we did not find Elena attractive, so we men decide which woman is the best. Women dont get to decide which woman is the best, that is decided by men.

Similarly, we men don't decide where Stefan is better or Damon is better or Matt is the best. Women decide which man is the best and the women of the show rated Damon as the best.

So you see, the opposite sex decides who is the best, not the same sex. Thats why your view on Serena is a little less relevant than mine, vice versa your view on Damon is more relevant than mine, but it is not more relevant than that of the girls who overwhelmingly voted for him.

The show started to nosedive when originals left the show and this also coincides with Silas was revealed to being played by Paul Wesley. This is when the show started to go down, Elena has no real connection in all this, she was there during those augustines and travellers storylines, the show was miserable back then. Infact the Season 7 and 8 had stronger villains and hence better storylines.

Proof : Check average viewership of season on Wikipedia.

Season 6 - 1.54M
Season 7 - 1.95M
Season 8 - 1.71M

So Nina Departing the show increased the ratings of the show ....LOL ...

Check for yourself ...

Blake Lively - 42M followers on Instagram
Nina Dobrev - 26M followers on Instagram

Both are of the same age ....so this can be compared

People like Serena more than Elena

btw, they have quite an interesting surnames, nina dobrev (means good-noun) and lively is not too shabby also (kinda always active/live, like sagittarius/zara)

Nicole Kidman is 5’11” and I find her attractive, so that’s an exception. There maybe more. But usually most ideal and attractive height for me is anything between 5’3” to 5’6”.

As to guys, I have dated a guy who was 5’8” and I had no problem. But taller than 6’1” maybe a bit too tall for me.

Taylor Swift and Maria Sharapova look like giants to me, very unattractive. Their feet must be giant too.

Personality is what counts.
Very true as beauty eventually fades.

I am really not into vampires (part of fantasy and all), but the most beautiful vampire movie I’ve seen is Let Me In (2010). Now that’s a vampire you want to care about.

@Deda Mraz - One of the most anticipated episodes in season 3, there was a lot of suspense here on whether Mikael will kill Klaus or whats gonna happen, a bit more than the later in the season when Esther returned to channel the power of a 1000 witches to Link all the Original Vampires and kill them, that too had a lot of suspense when Finn was killed.

TVD was at its peak in season 2 & 3, it truly went down big after the original vampires left the show.

The good story writing went to the Originals, Stefan was the biggest collateral damage of that.

When I see the first 3 seasons of the originals, I again see good plots like resurrection of Mikael, Ester trying to kill Hope, Strix (could have explored more), flashbacks from the past of Klaus, Aunt Dahlia.... all this could have been shown in TVD because this coincided with season 5-6-7 of TVD which were horrible, it did not have to be that way.

Notice how after the originals began to leave, the plot shifted even more towards Stefan and Damon... now the story is about sire bond, ancient curse bringing them together, Elena having to pick between brothers... all nonsense plots. Villains were bad too post Silas. After Silas we had TVD not even having a real villain with the bad guys in New Orleans and now TVD having Paul Wesley playing Silas. Stefan was the protagonist, he was never gonna sell as an antagonist. They made the universe bringing dopplegangers together to make elena and stefan's story look like fake.

Now have you seen the legacies? I find it to be even bigger BS, the actors are just so bad, Hope herself doesn't look strong at all but we are supposed to believe she is powerful. The actors seem unconvincing.

I watched very little of the Legacies. Was too old for that show when it aired.

I view the first 4 seasons as the real TVD and the last 4 seasons as a money-milking nonsense.

Even I was/am too old for Legacies, can't watch such cringe things, it is probably meant for teenagers of today or kids, I dont know.

Yes first 4 was real TVD, the day Paul Wesley was shown as Silas, thats it, TVD ended, something else began entirely.
