The "What's Wrong With Her?" Thread

4>3 Angie no matter how you try to sugar coat it. Anyway the whole point of YE rankings is how many points you accumulated during the year which is why consistency, yes that dreaded word consistency, is so important. It's not all about winning Slams otherwise you'd see no other tournaments being played throughout the year.

Based on YE #1 rankings, you place Lindsay Davenport (4) 3 GS ahead of Serena Williams (3) 18 GS. You know, Lindsay was number one for only 98 weeks, Serena 209 (and climbing).

Based on your GOAT assessment, you must have been a major supporter of the 1973 S&H Green Stamps Classic. Do you know the historical significance of that tournament? The answer to that question will give you an indicator of why your "Lindsay" assessment might be historically inaccurate.

What does "quality indicator" mean??
I will explain tomorrow.

I am baking tonight for our ladies church auxiliary meeting tomorrow. We are planning a fundraiser for our mission to support a couple helping in Western Africa.

I urge everyone to donate (no amount is too little) to a charitable organization helping those fighting Ebola in Western Africa. They need all the help we can give them.

Tennis isn't just about winning big titles. Consistency plays a huge part as well.

Congrats to the USAs Alison Riske! She won her first WTA event in China. Who would have thought she win a pro tourney before Sloan Stephens.

Looks like Giorgi and Pliskova want a spot in the WWWH department quite badly.
As bad as that match sounds, I want to see it! I don't mind a crapfest so much if it's very agressive and has lots of drama. I can't stand a pushing crapfest that drags on forever, but this could be amusing. And after all, Sergio is the financial controller of this thread...

Anyway congrats to Pliskova! She doesn't seem to get the hype of the other youngsters...guess she needs a deep slam run or two. Or maybe it's the ugly arm tattoo....not very fashiony lol.

Also, congrats to Riske for hoisting up her first WTA trophy!!! Now she can always say she's a champion. Ok it's just an international, but it's still something. Bouchard has one and they called her a "great champion" on TV, so if Alison adds a couple deep slam runs, she can be a great champion too! Also nice to see Bencic make the final.

And finally, Sam Stosur, an elite member of this thread, actually managed to win a tournament where she was the number 1 seed. She should have been able to beat anyone in this tournament, and shockingly she did! Yay! I (almost) always want her to win, but I can't bring myself to actually root for anymore because of the heartache. I'm glad she got it done. Good job.

Right, Krunic will get into top 100: #98

Caroline Garcia 4 2
Aleksandra Krunic 6 6

but I didn't like seeing her right arm, all taped up.

Vavel (Spain) seems to say that only

Maria Sharapova, Agnieszka Radwanska, Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova

have confirmed for Singapore, the rest having physical issues. Let's see.

Simona Halep is in Singapore and says she's fully recovered:

Bouchard was with Sharapova one of the early arrivals and tweeted her killing a rowing machine:)

Hello everyone. I have not posted here in over a year! I used to post in this thread all the time ;)

By the way, I'm sure you guys are aware of Vaidisova's comeback but, I went through the past couple pages and didn't see a mention of it. She is back in the 700s in the rankings now.

Congratulations to Annika Beck who has just won her first WTA title in Luxembourg. I've been watching her progress for some time now and it's nice to know all that work is starting to pay off. She's a very capable and determined player.

Congrats to Czech Republic taking the Fed Cup!

Even if that Kvitova-Kerber match was a mutual chokefest.

What's wrong with.....Sam Stosur?

She is playing in her home country. That's what's wrong. Can't handle the 'pressure'. Never got past R4 (2010, 2006) at the AO.

It's so sad. I thought Lepchenko might give her trouble. She practiced with Serena a lot last summer and seemed to be improving toward the end of the season. And it's Sam in Australia, of course. She has to be one of the biggest underachievers out there! But in here, she is in the upper echelon: Homeland Security Chief.

Stosur has a mentality of a 5 year old. Never understood how she with her great potential haven't made better results. from 5-1 to 7-5???

But it's in her head.

It's a real puzzle and a real shame. We all know she's got the game and the talent. She did it at the US Open (against Serena no less) so we know she can do it. But her mind just seems to go AWOL when on the brink of winning a match against lesser players, especially when playing in front of an Aussie crowd. If only she could have hired a former champ to coach her and toughen her up mentally, I wonder how much further she could have gone?

It must be really frustrating for the Aussie fans! :-?

Watching the last game of Woza's win today in Auckland, she was still playing defensively. When she comes up against power players, the only way she can win is if they have lots of UEs. But if they both play at the same level, she can't win.

Stosur goes home early at the hands of Coco V. Stosur dreads playing tennis in Australia. Not sure why.

She can enjoy a Foster's with Dellacqua who ate two breadsticks in her match.
