anybody see bencic match what did you think she need to improve in that match
the hingis hype must be getting to her head.lol
for one there was no movement too flat footed, her serve killed her in that match. and no weapon really, her opponent was smacking forehands everywhere and she's just pushing.
the thing about hingis is shes's really fast and agile bencic not looking it much, and if she cant beat them with power she's goes for acuracy and placement in that match bencic was just try to outhit her opponent which obviously did not work

To me it felt like against Goerges that she wasn't doing enough with the ball. Julia just unloaded whenever she felt like it. What bugged me was that Bencic opened both sets with breaks. She had multiple points to go up 2-0 in the 2nd also. Don't remember if she won another game after that.

I dunno. I don't really have much other insight.

i know it was annoying cus its not like she didn't have a chance, she still only 17 tho but time waits for no one, maybe she should hire a legend that seems like the trend these days and the results are pretty good

i can tolerate the shrieks most of the time; I can even understand some form of pumping yourself up by yelling at yourself(but not to her extent, ridiculous, cu-cu behavior); I completely understand the crying and/or puking of all the female players (all that is uncontrollable genuine response); what i can’t stand and hate is the fake/false post match celebrations.
if you don’t know what to do after winning something, its better not to do anything at all (just stand there, smile for the cameras, say thank you and move on); don’t jump up/down like an idiot; she wins fans with her play and strength and loses then all with the post-match fake celebrations

What are you talking about?

He's [strike]ranting[/strike] talking about Serena's AO win celebrations.

I thought they WERE completely spontaneous and showed the joy and relief of winning a tough event, coming through clearly not feeling very well on the day.

To each, there own;)

Well said--it was spontaneous.

Serena just won her 19th major while fighting through respiratory issues. That is called being overwhelmed by joy. How is that so difficult for some to understand?

You mean like Tom Brady jumping up and down after his team recovered the ball from the Seahawks?

Should Serena gone for the Borg double knee drop or the Federer collapse?

Funny how no one criticizes that "oooh! I just can't believe it!" fall, but jumping for joy = high crime / demise of tennis.

This thread is for fans to bemoan the inexplicably bad results of players they like, not to grumble about their annoying habits (lol it was quite charitable to allow the sick to vomit though, I must say). The fact that it is no longer the go to thread for WTA is nice, but I hope it can still stay around and not get derailed by a bunch of unrelated nonsense.

I'm wondering if Genie should be placed on the young and the restless list. Yes, she made a slam final (with bagel), but the girl is a disaster outside slams (and some, not all, of her good slam showings had easy draws). She has won exactly 1 tournament ever and it was an international 280 a year ago. It feels like she is going the Sloane route, although, to her credit, at least she seems to give a damn, so there's still hope.

Also, I'm wondering if Cirstea should get a promotion. She recently bombed out of a 100K (wta equivalent of a challenger?) where she was the top seed. Even sadder, no one even commented on it in here! Or does that relegate her to the left for dead category?

Today's what's wrong with her was Suarez Narvarro had lower neck problems and had to DNS (Did Not Start) at the Antwerp final...

Im more concerned with mummy, out of shape Clijsters easily outhitting Petkovic on an hours notice in the Exo match in place of the title.

Petko is top 10 tomorrow and should be ashamed, exo or not.

It makes me miss the golden years of Serena/Venus/Henin/Clijsters/Davenport/Hingis/Capriati/Mauresmo/Dementieva etc.

It was great, wasn't it.
They were going for it. I'm in no doubt of that!
2 children later and she is still amazing around the court. Kudos Kim!

Should be ashamed of "losing" an exhibition to the host country's legend... That is beyond ridiculous.

After Petko's incredible Fed Cup weekend & then the 8 match points saved earlier in this tourney, she doesn't have to apologize to anyone.

Exactly, Petkovic is in good form, has logged a lot of court time this week too, and is (according to ranking) one of the 10 best players on the planet.

Mummy Kim has been busy backstage tendering to players needs, scheduling, media events etc all week. On top of being a mum to 2 children, and has been out with friends also (via her twitter). Not exactly top match prep is it?

She was not in peak physical condition and even on short notice comfortably outlassed a young top 10 player.

Kim could come back easily and replace Petko in the top 10 in a few months, and that's not an exaggeration either.

Goerges lost to world #183 Gabriela Dabrowski in qualifying.

As if that wasn't enough, she got back into the tournament as a lucky loser... Only to choke a 5-2 lead in the second set, and 4 MPs in a loss to Flavia Pennetta.

Gonna have to go with Jonesy on this one. Exhibition or not, that was funny.

Today's 'what's wrong with her' was a totally energy less and lethargic Garbiñe Muguruza, playing Jarmila Gajdosova.
Lost the first set, had a a good cry at the end of set sit down and went on to win the next two:)

Meanwhile, Pavlyuchenkova has yet to win a sigles match this year. Poor girl( Looks like she wants a place in senior management.

Having watched the highlights on YouTube I can only agree with you. And what a pleasure that would be. Class act.

For someone so tall, Goerges's shots lack power and her opponents get plenty of time to redirect the ball. Her FH is loopy and she's sacrificed power for more topspin. It's unclear why most tall, strong women in the wta lack power, except of course sharapova and the williams sisters.
She's a looker though.

She's not winning majors.

Neither is Venus and a host of other older players. Should they all retire? Should they give up a job they presumably love because they're not winning majors? You missed your vocation when clearly the WTA PR people should sign you up right now for their upcoming 'Let's Get Rid of Players That The Public May Know ' campaign. And after you've helped the WTA with marketing you could move to their Accounting Dept and help them towards bankruptcy. My there really is so much you could achieve on behalf of womens tennis.
And, who's to say that they don't have a major in them? Bartoli and Schiavone are just two that would beg to differ.

And since nobody seems to care enough to make a thread for the tournament, I guess I'll post it here:

Vaidisova is in her first WTA tournament of her comeback!

Playing Ivanovic in the first round (yeah, bit of tough luck there...)

Lisicki proving again that she can't do anything unless it's on grass, losing to Dulgheru in Malaysia....

She usually manages to win a mickey mouse tournament at some point during the year...She's been absolutely dreadful this year though. Some serious mental issues.

Schiavone is drawn to face a qualifier. That could have been a winnable one for Vaidisova

She seemed to have been brainwashed into being "designed" to win Wimbledon at the expense of everything else, hence her underwhelming career. Just imagine if she held her Wimbledon enthusiasm for other majors.

Just joined this forums and glad to have seen this thread. Perfectly describes the Aussie female players in particular!
Stosur or as she's commonly known choker. Who can forget that performance in Brisbane?
Dellacqua is a new one but is looking like the next Stosur. She was top seed in Hobart and lost in the 2nd round. She was 3rd seed in Malaysia this week and played awfully against Hsieh.
Gajdosova is an interesting one. Plagued by injury but seems to have found herself in recent months. Although her performance against Muguruza in Dubai seemed promising but then she choked. Hopefully she can continue performing well in Malaysia and maybe get taken off the "left for dead" category. haha
