The "What's Wrong With Her?" Thread

I wonder what's been tiring her? Or maybe who? I heard she and Stepanek have just got back together!

She's supposedly dating a guy named Radek, but it's not Stepanek... for now.

Just joined this forums and glad to have seen this thread. Perfectly describes the Aussie female players in particular!
Stosur or as she's commonly known choker. Who can forget that performance in Brisbane?
Dellacqua is a new one but is looking like the next Stosur. She was top seed in Hobart and lost in the 2nd round. She was 3rd seed in Malaysia this week and played awfully against Hsieh.
Gajdosova is an interesting one. Plagued by injury but seems to have found herself in recent months. Although her performance against Muguruza in Dubai seemed promising but then she choked. Hopefully she can continue performing well in Malaysia and maybe get taken off the "left for dead" category. haha

welcome :)

Someone watched Ivanovic-Garcia? The scoreline seems a bit flattering for the Frenchwoman considering that even if it isn't "the" Ivanovic, it's still Ana.

Yeah. Imo Garcia just out played her. Blitzed her in the first set. Anna had no answer.
Second set, Garcia got a little nervy but only briefly and stuck at it for a great win for her!
Loved her victory prance too - likeable gal.

Her coach dad talks a lot of sense too! They look to be a great team.

I'm looking forward to the final.

Stosur vs Stephens! Two board members face off.

But Stephens beat Kerber (yay) whom I've disliked since she cheated at RG. So Stephens is ok by me. and Stosur has taken out SW at 2 slam events. So Stosur is also ok by me. I'm sure you agree ; ). Hope you're well. :)

I like them both! I feel bad that one of them has to lose today...they could both use some positive results.

I am doing well. I'm on vacation but was able to stream Serena on Tennis Channel app on my phone last night, which was great. Also a good opportunity to see some bizarre rants in the related threads. There are some real nutters  I'm just laying low, trying not to take the bait. Hope all is well with you.

Had an op on my knee (ligament ) so my life consists of physio and dvds! Progress is good (touch wood) so should be playing tennis again in a couple of months.
Not dipped in to any contentious threads for ages- not since Thunder volley accused me of being a racist and got banned for his trouble. The Serena threads are just like groundhog day - same people- same views- same deleted end. Dull.
Still might drop in to one- just to keep my hand in :)
Have a great holiday.

If a high level board member like Stosur or Kuzzy chokes a match away, is it really choking? Or is it success because she is fulfilling by her mission as a board member?

Fulfilling their mission. At this point, they cannot get out of their own road to failure, so its no longer choking, but the regular state of affairs.

A few small upsets in the 1R of Miami.

Any tips on what seeds will fall early?
I'd love to see Gavrilova upset Sharapova.
Garcia?
Wozniacki?
Venus?
Jankovic? (Up against Azarenka)
Stosur...
Petko.

Well Stosur got through and bagelled her opponent. Hopefully she can take a set against Venus but I don't have high expectations for her.

So Zahlavova and Lepchenko are out.
Garcia down a set and break. And Stosur just somehow lost a set. God she's a pain to watch.

I was quite harsh on this this thread last year about Stosur until it was pointed out that anything she did now was a bonus. And coupled with the fact that she's taken SW out of two slam events my position has changed 100%- I now am happy if she has a good win and sigh for the bad ones. But overall applaud her. If that makes sense?

Yep, she will forever be the '11 US Open champion. Most of us believe with her tools she should have had a better career, but she will forever be a Slam champion.

I was actually thinking this earlier today. At least Stosur has beaten Williams on a few occasions. Unlike Sharapova who hasn't in over a decade. (Sorry Sharapova lovers, just making my point). Her 2011 us open win wasn't a fluke or anything. She was able to defeat the home favorite on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. That's a special feat in itself. And she was pretty unlucky not to win the 2010 French open as well.
20 finals but unfortunately she's only won 6. Lowest amount of all active slam winners (tied with Schiavone, she's had a better career then her though).

I couldn't watch that '10 FO final live, had to be somewhere. Finding out after the fact that Sam didn't win was shocking. Still can't believe that one.

Yep and she's had a very successful doubles career. One of the few women to have a grand slam in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

That I didn't know. And she does seem likeable.
I actually like most of the 1 slam singles winners over the last few years. Much more than the three multiple winners thar spring to mind. That said, I like Venus but it's been a while!

But it was a lovely moment witnessing Schiavones (sp?)absolute delight at winning. Nothing contrived, just sheer joy.
