The world's worst parents

I agree... small things like this generally have bigger effect in a kid's life. You will be surprise what people remember about their childhood.

The worst part about this isn't that the parent didn't get him the Xbox but they pull a prank on him - giving him false hope and trashing it like they did is cruel. Now the kid may never trust his parents like he use to anymore and that is the sad part.

Imagine growing up being harrassed by other kids and even to adulthood ... Aren't you that kid whose parents fooled you into thinking you got an Xbox 360? Condescending mischievous grin/laugh follows.

I'm sure it'll go over well also with the girls.

I feel sorry for him.

Thanks,
eagle

If someone did donate an x-box to that kid I'm sure that moms would sell it so she can buy herself more crack or hamburgers or whatever.

Hopefully this motivates the kid to work hard and be successful so he can get his mom a new (fake) car when he gets older.

Perhaps the donor should send the parents the box with coals inside, then be there to videotape the ceremonial opening.

:)

That should be another good viral video.

Thanks,
eagle

In a way the video was kind of funny because after he found out there was clothes inside the xbox 360 box he sat there like a statue for about 20 seconds and thats the part that was kind of funny. In the end though he did end up getting an xbox 360 if you read the description you would know this.

That was a beautiful one, the kids almost cries out of joy, and is so grateful and appreciative of how much it would have cost.
I don't recall myself being so grateful or appreciative as a kid :-(
I think the kid tries to give his dad some money near the end. And you can hear the dad's voice crackling the first time he comes over to thank them. Hey, this is the America I want to preserve, people like this family.

I just noticed that the person changed the description of the video. In the original description he states that later his mom got his brother the 360 and that he would later post the video. Of course there was no follow up video posted. He probably got tired of the comments about how evil his mom was for pulling this kind of crap.
How many kids get absolutely NOTHING? So the kid doesn't get an XBox...big deal. Let him WORK for it. The parents have had to raise this urchin from birth-it's a lot of work and expense, so they deserve a laugh or two at the kid's expense, don't they?

^^^ I agree with Phil. My generation (I'm in my 20s) as evidenced in this thread is pathetically spoiled. Kids should be grateful for what parents provide them. Period. Parents played a practical joke on their kid, and all of a sudden the mom's a fat crack addict? Geez.

Why should we feel sorry for the kid? He looks well-fed, in a stable environment. And he's surrounded by a nuclear family. So he's gonna end up a serial killer because he didn't get what he wanted?....wow.

Guess what kids his age do all the time? They CRY!! especially when they don't get something they really want. And sometimes for very silly reasons as well. I guess that must have been a big shocker to everybody here, apparently.

I suppose you loons are the same ones who try to step in and mouth off whenever you see parents try to spank/punish their petulant cry-baby kids in public.

And as a note to edberg505:

It must take a person with a huge set of balls, sense of irony, or a love of hypocrisy to post an icon that says "If your child doesn't look like this when you come home, you've failed as a parent"......
(referencing Maddox from http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=beat) while being disdainful about the posted video.

Hahaha, Great catch. No hypocrisy here, just liked the shirt and I'm a huge fan of Maddox. That doesn't mean that I condone what those parents did to that kid.

So, I guess the real question is would you do that to your kid?

How can you be a huge fan of maddox and find this video so terrible?

Maddox's humour is far more extreme than this.

And as a side note man he certainly isn't writing many articles these days.

I'm sure one there are a lot of kids that get absolutely NOTHING. I know full well of that because I was one of them. To be honest I don't know how I would have turned out if my parents had pulled this crap. My parents did the best they could and they gave me what they could afford without the unessecary pranks at my expense.

Yeah, I find it humorus because somehow I don't believe that he would actually do it. It's sorta like when I went to see the last "Rambo" movie and it came to a point that the violence was so extreme (scene where he jumps on the .50 cal machine gun) that all I did was laugh. That doesn't mean I would laugh at real people getting killed. And yeah he is slacking with the updates. I did buy his book though, but it was nowhere near as good as the updates. Hope he puts up another one soon.

Ummmm. . . .you guys might want to re-read the description. The kid DID get the 360. Things like this happen all of the time. This is far from 'creating a serial killer', but it's pretty scary that some of you sociopaths jumped to that conclusion.

Yeah...people leading to extrodinary conculsions without knowing the whole story...feel sorry to the people who got suckered into this. Learn to scrutinise your sources ppl..if not we'll be all be doing the 'Axis of Evil' boogie all over again. REALITY CHECK!

Looking at the whole thing in context...coming from a brother (older?)...its funny.'Son this is the real world'. I'm sure the lil bro would be chuckling at his 'performance'.lol

Ugh, I don't know how many times I have to explain this. If the despcription he had up now was the original description then I wouldn't have posted this.

Edit: I found the link.

IMHO, it's not my type of humor but hey, I think the parents have full right to ridicule their kids for certain things like this. It's not emotional abuse. It's well-deserved ridicule that kids need these days.

Let's be mindful of the fact that the brat is crying over an XBOX. An XBOX of all things! His parents aren't crushing his dreams to be a doctor or scarring his ability to cope with hardships or knocking down his childhood's hopes and dreams. IT'S A FREAKING XBOX!

IF I were to put myself in that kid's shoes, my parents would do a lot more than ridicule me on crying over an XBOX (after getting clothes no less), they would've beat the s**t out of me and I would've deserved it.

For you to claim yourself a fan of Maddox, I think you missed the underlying argument on his 'child abuse' article: children, by nature, are spoiled pieces of crap. And parents from a moral and legal standpoint own these children because of the immense time/resources put into raising them. As Phil put it nicely, they deserve to get a kick out of it once in a while.

While the parents got a kick out of the whole thing, the kid probably learned a harsh and needed lesson regarding luxury items. You don't, can't and shouldn't expect anything of value, you earn it yourself.

He wasn't crying over an Xbox, he was crying because he got hoodwinked. Now you might have had a point if the kid had opened the present and it wasn't an Xbox and he started throwing a fit. That's not what happened. Now I may be a bad judge of character, I don't know. But I'm pretty sure that kid is not spoiled at all.

I say it's his fault that he placed the XBOX on the pedestal of hope, as evidenced by his crying about it, that's proof enough that he's spoiled.

Let's use a different example, say the box was something that he didn't value as much as an XBOX: like the box for an original edition Moby Dick. Can you honestly say he would've cried if he got hoodwinked over something else like that ..........or lets say if he got something inside the XBOX box worth more than an XBOX (say that three times fast) like a $1000 savings bond?... something infinitely worth more to his future than an XBOX. I guarantee you the spoiled brat would still be crying because at that time, he doesn't care about anything else but an XBOX.

When I use the word 'spoiled,' I'm not putting this kid down. All children, by nature, are spoiled. Kids get free food, room, board, and adult guidance as a minimum for 18 years of their life. We were all spoiled at one point of our lives. It's subjective. Compare the poorest Americans' standards of living to the middle class of most of the world. We're spoiled by a large, large, exponential margin.

I'm just saying, regardless of getting hoodwinked, he would've cried about anything that was a priority to him. It's the same thing adults do when they cry over loved ones. It's just that the standards of what's worth crying over is a lot lower when you're a spoiled kid.

At this point, we might have to agree to disagree.

Errrr ok. Wanting something as a child is considered spoiled now? Well done. Judging from his reaction, he was really hurt from this prank. If he were spoiled, I would expect him to throw a fit and walk/run off instead of sitting there crying.

Hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. These fine and upstanding parents are just training spoiled little Junior for the disapointements to come in life. Once he's a man, he'll understand and know how to deal with crushing disappointments, while his peers will still be whining like the babies they are. More power to these parents-they are training a warrior. Maybe.

Just wondering if these videos were made by the xbox guys to build hype/advertise, in other words not genuine.

If they would do this to their kid you know he will be messed up for life. YOU DO NOT PLAY PRACTICAL JOKES on your child. Especially CRUEL SICK ones like this. These people are idiots!

The video is sad. The Phil, on the other hand, is hilarious.
I guess the situation would be funny if it were sketch comedy. Maybe. Sadly, it is real.

They say the beginning of the end of the welfare of a culture is when the people stop taking responsibility and expect help from the government. The next step to decline is when they are indignant if they do not get enough help. The final step must be when parents use their kids as subjects for humorless, crass and ill-willed practical jokes.

35'6'', you're so nice to post that video of that adorable, genuine, thankful and appreciative little guy. Made my day, thinking of my own family. Thank you very much, man!

Yeah, brother, I thought if that, too. Very edgy spots!

But that kid's face looked real to me. Not just sad or feeling duped. Real, and sincere sorrow that he was born into that family.

The fact that it was recorded makes it a bit suspicious. If I were mean enough to play such a joke on my kid (which I am not), I would not also record it, and then post it.

However, if I bought him an xbox and let him know I got it, then we could set up a camera, and for kicks make a film like this just to show our friends how *cool* we are. (It still sounds stupid!)

Dude, think about all the crazy stuff people have recorded and posted. This thing shouldn't send off anybody's BS alarm. All people are not like you. There are some seriously twisted and dumb people out there with cameras.

That's the idea. This is not about a kid not getting an Xbox for Christmas and being upset about that. This is about a kid getting ridiculed by his family. Yes, things could be worse for him. But that is no excuse for this entire deal. He didn't need to get ridiculed, and have it posted on the internet for all to see him being made of fool of by his family. There are nearly a million views on this video.

Did he actually get an xbox? I do not know. Where did they get the box? I don't know. But, they sure are not acting like he's going to get one.

That was an awful thing to do to the kid.
It would have been a funny prank, if int he last minute of the video they presented him with an actual Xbox, or something even better.
But to leave it at that... BOO to the parents.
