The year of Del Potro is finally here

Not yet. But this win will surely give him more confidence. Aiming the Top50 is not a long shot if he plays day in day out like today.

Too soon to say. One big win isn't proof that he will win slams, especially when there's only one left to win this year.

Two big wins. He also beat Wawrinka at Wimby. You have to include that one and it goes to him starting to be consistent again. But I do agree it's still too soon to say.

I wasn't able to catch that match. Was Wawrinka even playing well?

If he plays day in day out like today he'll become #1. Compared to the other players of this era, he played like the best player in the world. I don't see anyone else beating him the way he played today.

His 2nd coming he got back to his career high ranking of number 4, in late 2013/ early 2014 - but still went out in the 2nd round of the USO and AO those years.
Nothing personal against this likable guy, but can't see it happening now, nearly 3 years later.

I was referring until the end of this season, but somehow Delpo plays just 2-3 good matches and then loses bad.
A junkballer could give him fits, thought. Just ask Roger.

Yeah that "scrappy player" quote has some merit when Federer plays Del Potro.
