He clearly did the same against Donskoy -- proved he was in control, but had no interest in wasting time at a third rate tournament -- and against buddy Zverev in the Hopman exo.

Nobody has been able to actually defeat Fed this year.

Yup, plus thrashed Gasquet 18-7 and Berdych 18-10 in games.

When he broke early in the second set, before we knew about Cilic's injury, I knew that that was that. Probably the most confident I've been watching Federer in a major final since, idk, 2007. No way was he gonna be denied a 4th time in a row.

It's absolutely nuts to me that if Federer wins the US Open he'll have won the same number of slams at age 35/36 as Murray has his ENTIRE career as part of the "big four."

Well unless Fed ends the year as #1 and wins WTF or grabs the USO, 2013 would be a better year IMO. Also keep in mind, Fed is 35-36 this year when he is having this comeback while Nadal was 26-27.

Oh the 2 losses might well end up counting. Nadal's also been on a swangsong in 2017. It's looking tight for the race to 1 this year.

Don't know about that, Dubai is only a 500 and he might not have had enough fuel to win the sunshine double if he went all the way. And Stuttgart is a 250. But, we'll see.
