The Austrian outplayed a very good Novak Djokovic who won the AO earlier that year and hadn’t dropped a set before that SF while Alcaraz defeated a very good Sinner who won the AO earlier this year and only dropped 1 set before their SF encounter. Who takes it?

Could very well be. Alcaraz was very up and down this Roland Garros.

and when Carlitos would come in, Thiem’s passing shots esp. on the BH side wouldn’t cut it. I remember Zverev coming in on that side a lot at 20 USO to get that 2 set lead. Thiem’s flatish bh is easy to volley.

I don't think Carlos' groundstrokes could withstand the consistent pressure of Thiem's right now.

I'd definitely take 2023 Carlos though, since he's not going to cramp with Thiem on the other side of the net.
