Thiem a lock against Djokovic

I'd put Thiem between 20-30%. If you're getting better odds than 4-1, take them. If you have better odds than 3-1, consider them.

This will be Djokovic's biggest threat of his group. Thiem is tricky. But this is a fast court, and hopefully Djokovic comes through.
Djokovic is lucky to have avoided Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Zverev on this fast court. Thiem on a fast court probably doesn't represent the same threat as the other three players I mentioned, but cannot be taken lightly either. He's got the big serves and big ground strokes to make things difficult for Novak. Still Novak is extremely good on lower bouncing courts. 60-40 Novak favourite for me.

He tore Tsitsipas to shreds on a fast court in Paris. I do agree he was a bit lucky because his group is not as tough as Rafa's.

They haven't played on HC in three years and Thiem has improved a lot on the surface. But I doubt it'll be enough. Djokovic is by far the better player overall and especially on this surface. Djoker should win this in straights.

Well, yes, Dominic has improved on HC massively since the start of this year under Massu's guidance but... Novak is still the strong favourite considering strengths and weaknesses of their games, matchup, current form and surface. Also, Dominic didn't play his best vs Fed. So the most likely outcome is Novak in 2 sets, one of them tight - if both play on the level they did on Sunday.

But, Novak is not 27 anymore so if he has an 'off' day and Dominic peaks then the upset is certainly possible. I'm hoping for it.

Even a B game Djokovic beats Thiem in STRAIGHTS. Of course if Djokovic is at C/C- OR injured, he could lose.

But Djokovic >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Thiem

Watching the match from the court side, here is my take on this:

1- Nole's game is very steady. He is an unbelievable defender. A lot of Thiem's shots were like bullets and Nole just got them back into play and created unforced errors by Thiem,
2- Nole's game has a very high margin of error. He does not have to play perfect to win the match. His game is very steady and he can switch from defense to offense very quickly,
3- When I watch Nole return of serve. A lot of times, it seems like he already knows where Thiem's serves go. Not sure if that can be taught,
4- Thiem's game has a very low margin of error. It means that he has to play almost perfect to win. It is doable in best 2 out of 3 but I don't think Thiem can do it in best 3 out of 5 on non-clay court,
5- Watching Thiem hitting from the court side, it just feels like he always goes for broke every time. It is like driving a Formula 1 car at over 230mph for 3+ hours without crashing, in seven consecutive matches

Time to head back to the hotel and grab some food. I am still wide awake, not use to London time yet :-(

Funny, I had the exact same observations, but watching safe and sound in a warm cozy home in Canada (-9C outside). :)

I had Timmy in his big boy pants to tank the RR and smash Novak in the final. Now it'll probably be the reverse...
