Thiem Academy Methods

Youtuber Iori (吉田伊織【iori】 - YouTube) is training in Austria with Dominic Thiem's father. The focus is on how you finish your forehand and backhand to create balance and stability. It's interesting, because almost everything else on the internet focuses on prep and making contact.

Around the 11:00 minute mark, the coach intervenes to show Iori the finishing position they want. At the start of the second video, Thiem's father expands on it with some correction to the body position.

Any other coaches like this out there?

Funny that he focused on exactly how the Japanese kid finished when he had a much more glaring problem imo.
The follow through seems to be their signature. High elbow on forehand and straightened non dominant arm for serve. They don't seem to force this on everyone though.

Not sure what to make of this (24:00):

They edited out the part where Ashton Kutcher came out and told him he was being Punk’d.

What I can’t figure out is why the kid pulls his off arm to the left during his backswing. He does it way before his right shoulder is ready to move toward contact.

They made him do that in another installment of this channel.

One can get a sense why Thiem's tennis seems rather robotic sometimes.

I think the improvement in balance and stability may be more obvious on his backhand. Looks pretty good.

I don't know if I would be into this myself, but I like the intent.
