Thiem played 5 slam matches since 2021. Australian open 2021 he was humiliated by Dimitrov.
RG 2021, RG2022, USOpen 2022, AO 2023 and RG2023, he lost in R1 of grand slam matches. He also missed 2 Wimbledons and 1 USopen as well as 1 Australian open.

Thiem lost 35 out of 69 matches. This is below 50%. If we look at Slams, he won 3 matches at slam level in 3 years. And probably 5 or 6 matches at masters level in 3 years.
25 or so matches he won are at very low tier events where no top players play. Honestly while researching this, I found out new names of the tournaments. So that 25 is not even good enough.

Even if he was uninjured, I think he was a one slam wonder. Maybe Roland 2021 was in the cards but even then, I doubt he would’ve beaten Nole in a GS final

@nachiket nolefam he would definitely not win Wimbledon. USO he had no chance against Peak Medvedev and Oldovic, Roland Garros 2021, he would definitely lose to Tsitsipas, Djokovic or Nadal. No slams in 2021. In 2022, his only chances would be AO and USO. He would beat Claydal before the finals if they played at AO, otherwise if it was a final, he would lose. Even if he were to beat Claydal in semis/QF, he would lose to US open champ Medvedev in 4 sets. USO, he would definitely beat Alcaraz. Alcaraz needed 5 sets against choker Cilic and saved a MP against Sinner. So only 2 were really in the cards, AO 2022 and USO 2022

Actually he is mentally a mug himself. He lost countless slams and masters 1000s and ATP finale finals. He was able to break through two times and both times his opponents choked.
Once Federer in IW 2018 and second Zverev in USO2020. Zverev had never beaten a top 10 player till RG22 so Zverev reaching Final was travesty itself. Pandemic era.

He’s lucky Zverev choked. Zverev should’ve finished him in three and he wouldve lost 4 slam finals. Big choker.

His level was not even that high. All he could do was hit the ball hard and his fitness was top end. That’s all. He has poor tennis IQ and court awareness. Zverev was tearing him apart before he choked in that third set at USO 2020

Zverev in first 2 sets was playing at very high level. But he is a choker.

Wrist injuries requiring actual surgeries will do that to you.
