Dominic's level nowhere near as high as it was yesterday but I also think Medvedev has one of those games that doesn't always allow his opponent to produce their best tennis given how many balls he's able to retrieve. For someone of his height his movement is very impressive.

Like it seems like trying to slice is causing him to play worse rather than the other way around.

He kinda has to slice against Medvedev. Because of Daniil's really flat ball, it doesn't pop up into Thiem's strike zone like Rafa's does. Also, Medvedev struggles to dig out slices for the same reason.

Thiem isn't on the baseline in this matchup, that's for sure. From the higher camera angles, it looks like he's standing at least 2 meters behind the baseline during rallies. It's going to be tough for Thiem to remain offensive hitting from those positions.

Bad errors from Medvedev. He started coming forward in that game and was seeing some success. He should keep doing that. All of Thiem's slices are clearly giving Medvedev issues. Coming forward with approach shots is a great counter-strategy to the slice.

Definitely some of that, but he also can't attack the slice, whereas in the first few games he could blast past Thiem. Kind of looks like a solved puzzle right now, I hope Medvedeve figures out the next chess move to keep it interesting.

Well, this has been a seriously underwhelming final, Medvedev's game is about as interesting as watching paint dry, zero charisma.

Hopefully Medvedev isn't injured so this match doesn't become a blowout. On the positive side, Medvedev started coming forward as a reaction to Thiem pushing/retrieving from 3 meters behind the baseline. That tactic won Medvedev the game.
