That is because it is a custom shoe. Upper looks like SCB but midsole has Bounce material. There are a few closeups of his shoe here on forum. Do a quick search. In some videos Thiem's solecourt boost don't look like they have boost. But they aren't sole match bounce.

Yup, Fed also has the ankle molded differently, as well as playing with no insole. Nadal also, when I looked up his PE shoes, his cage 3 upper doesn’t have the same shape as the retail, in that it is much more flat without all the bumps and the cushioning is a little differently molded than retail cage 3.Have had for a while...
Roger Federer doesn't use retail Nike Vapor X - He has custom outsole and a carbon fibre plate
Rafael Nadal doesn't use Cage 3 or 4 - He uses what is basically a CB 4.3 with an upper made to resemble retail version.
Gael Monfils, up until the release of the GR8 used GR6 made to look like GR7.
Rafa and Federer (while with Nike) even had "prostock" socks made to look like retail ones.
When he wore the Barricades, he did not use the Boost version either. I don't think he likes the boost feel...I wonder what the reason is in Thiem's case? Trying to shave some weight off the shoe and have a slightly more responsive cushion than boost?
I miss the barricades...When he wore the Barricades, he did not use the Boost version either. I don't think he likes the boost feel...
I did too, but learned to love the SCBI miss the barricades...
YES. I need to get my correct sizing because I got them from a time when I wore thorlos for everything and I have a size 11. However the colors are amazing, they are the parley ones, I got both the white stripes on blue and blue on white stripes, beautiful colorways. I hope adidas brings back the 6 month warranty.I did too, but learned to love the SCB
If you get the sizing right, the SCB are excellent. I just wish they would come with a 6 month warranty, however, I don't mind wearing "outdated" colors at $85/pair
Where were the Barricades Made in?Just looked, my SCB are made in China, same goes with my Vapor X and cage 3. Yikes.
Luckily I have a pair from 2018, made in China. I was posting to a different thread but accidentally posted here.Where were the Barricades Made in?

Do you mean he uses a custom orthotic? I’d imagine playing with no insole for hours would be unbearably painful.

As stated earlier, before they are sold or given to someone other than fed, his team take his custom orthotics out of the shoe. It does not make sense for his to sell his custom orthotics with the shoe.
Damn really? I remember watching Shaq’s pranks he’d play with the phone in the shoe or the LED message on his shoes. That’s what I assumed. I can’t blame him, the high end orthotics are easily a few grand. I have a pair of Shaq’s shoes and it’s the same deal.

Boost, without an iota of doubt.which is more comfy boost or bounce
Bounce will be more responsive feeling, not so mushy as boost. But if comfort is key, boost is the way to go. Bounce is firmer.which is more comfy boost or bounce
It've been long ago already. So now we have paintjob tennis shoes too.
No, neither foam affects sliding.if you like to slide bounce is better?
sorry that was a dumb questionNo, neither foam affects sliding.
It’s ok, any question is good.sorry that was a dumb question
Yeah, most I think use orthotics, Fed uses them. Fed takes his out after every match. Thiem uses a solecourt boost but with bounce foam.do pros use custom insoles becauseIi saw thiem had a very different traction pattern
Thats what it was bounce!Yeah, most I think use orthotics, Fed uses them. Fed takes his out after every match. Thiem uses a solecourt boost but with bounce foam.
Carbon fiber plates are more rigid, therefore more stable than the plastic shanks on retail models. They used to be on older models like the vapor 8, which help the shoe to be more stable because it doesn’t flex in the midfoot so much. While I was watching roger I saw that he has a carbon fiber plate why is that?
I think the outsole and carbon is the least of the concern about roger's shoe. It's cushionned and has plenty of lateral support that's why its like super XXL or something. The retail vapor at 200$ on the other hand is like a plastic glove for your feetHave had for a while...

Insole is what goes inside the shoe.Traction pattern would be outsole or the outer tread that wears as you play. But yes, most top players have custom built insoles.Check out Thiems's clip that has him training at Tenerife. He talks about that in it.do pros use custom insoles becauseIi saw thiem had a very different traction pattern
Yep. 57 second mark.Insole is what goes inside the shoe.Traction pattern would be outsole or the outer tread that wears as you play. But yes, most top players have custom built insoles.Check out Thiems's clip that has him training at Tenerife. He talks about that in it.
Exactly what I was talking about.Thanks!!Yep. 57 second mark.
