Think about Federer—a decade after his peak ended—taking the world #1 to school

Normal people: actually enjoying 2 players still competing at a high level well past their primes, and marveling at Federer's dominant performance

ffw: Good old legacy destroyer for Djokovic! Take that you loser! I'm totally not salty over 40-15! hahahaha!

Hey buddy, I'm not the one calling it a "bait thread". Interesting to see that a semi-****post about fun political trivia comes across as "bait" to you. Projection much?

There have been enough Novak fanboy “bate threads” (if you catch my drift) to last a lifetime.

If it's not 2019 ATP Finals then what match did Federer take Djokovic to school a decade after his peak?

Weren't they playing mostly farmers and stuff back then?

Sure, we know the names because it's the history of early pro tennis.

How do you reckon they'd fare against the world #100 of, say, 2005?

Fine, I'll say something nice about Federer. From 2014-16, Djokovic's 2nd major period of success, Federer still managed a 6-7 H2H. At 33-34 years old. That alone speaks volumes about how well Federer has matched up to Djokovic over the years.

That includes a 6-4 lead in BO3. Anyone who thinks Djokovic "owns" Federer, or that Federer's H2H deficit is even close to a detractor in his legacy, should probably shut their phuck up.

EMW's fans should thank Fraud every night before they go to sleep.
I was only 9 years old. I loved EMW so much, I had all the merchandise. I pray to EMW every night, thanking him for the life I've been given. "EMW is love," I would say. "EMW is life." My dad hears me and calls me a Djokob1tch. I knew he was just jealous of my devotion for EMW. I call him a Fedt@rd. He slaps me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. Out of the corner of my eye I see a light moving towards me. I feel something touch me. It's EMW.

Just think of the times Djokovic learned a few valuable lessons that year.

It'll come to you. :)

What valuable lessons did Djokovic learn from Federer in their other match? That it's not over until the last ball is played?

It really is remarkable how short Federer fans say his peak years were yet they think he should be a GOAT contender over a guy like Laver who won the Grand Slam for the 2nd time at 31 years of age.

Nobody sustained that level of dominance the way Federer did in 2004-2007. Even if he's not the greatest of all time, one could argue he had the longest peak actually. He does have the record for consecutive weeks at #1, after all. And it was done while winning 3 slams per year except for one time he won 2 while being one point away from winning 3.

I'm thinking of Pancho 'GOAT' Gonzales schooling 10 years younger Laver several times in BO5 format in early Open Era while being in his 40s.

during that period,1968-70, Richard was 39-41 and Rocket 29-32 at the various times they played 5-set matches. They played six five setters. Laver won 4 of 6 five-set matches:

Laver wins ‘68 RG SF: 6-3,6-2,6-1.
Laver wins ‘68 French Pro SF: 8-6, 6-2, 6-3
Laver wins ‘69 Baltimore: 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 9-7

Gonzalez wins TCC RR: 6-5, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, , 6-2

Laver wins TCC SF: 6-5; 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Gonzalez wins ‘70 Las Vegas F: 6-1; 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.

they never met after 1970. Their overall OpenEra record was 11-4.

Federer entered the top 10 at 21 so he didn’t hit his elite heights until just after then.then cleared up from 22 til 26 or so and slowly declined. This is what some Fed fans say which I don’t agree with.

Federer actually declined better than Nadal and even into his early 30’s was still very close to his best. Yes his pace/movement declined a bit but his serve was much better.
I won’t argue when people say 04-07 was peak Fed and actually do agree but some of his fans claim he fell off a lot which is untrue.
If it was true how can a player be goat even if he had the highest level when he only hit them at 22/23 and fell off at 27.

Federer could always beat Djokovic regardless of age and Djokovic as a baby could beat Fed they match up well.

That points system didn't exist in the days of Tilden, Gonzales, Rosewall, Laver etc so how can you claim Federer has the all-time record?
All of the above maintained a peak level for longer than Federer if his only lasted the 4 years his fans claim.
