I currently have a old school Prince Lightning CTS 90 that was a hand me down from my father, he had it for a long time and he gave it to me about 6 years ago when I wanted to play a match with a friend. I haven't played tennis regularly in about 10+ years, but Im about a 3.5 player currently and I've been playing several times a week and really want to build my game back up. I'm 27 and in pretty good shape.

I don't want to get rid of the lightning but I wouldn't mind getting a 2nd racquet, or at least demo some newer racquets to compare to my ole lightning.

For some reason I like prince racquets and I was considering something like the O3 shark hybrid. I'm looking for something a tad lighter then my current racquet and a midplus head like 100". Ideally a racquet that suits my current level but I can grow into when I become a much better player. I'm a topspin fan as well.

I also don't mind investing in a new racquet, so price is not really an issue.

The Lightning 90 is pretty far removed from Prince's current crop of frames. But never fear. You now have a great excuse to demo lots of frames. Take advantage of TW's demo program. Get the HShark and 3 other frames that are similiar and see if you like any. If not, go up or down in weight and repeat. Demoing is a big part of the fun of buying a new frame.

Don't sell that Lightning - it's a classic from that age of racquets. WHat you'll find different in today's racquets is the weight (much lighter) and stiffness (much stiffer) so it will play very different. At your level, you might want to see if you can find a Warrior. The Shark is a good bet as is the Hornet hybrid. But if you want to step back in power, you might like the Diablo XP

m-fil 300 is pretty nice. 10.9 onces and 98 headsize. adding lead makes it an amazing racuqet.

Thanks for all the responses. I definitely plan on keeping my lightning, but want to try some newer technology and just see how newer racquets play. I took some feedback from you guys and read some TT reviews and made myself a demo list. I don't think I will demo all of these but, I think if I get to demo a few from each manufacturer I should get a good sense of what racquets I like. Please feel free to add more suggestions, or if you see one on my list you think would be good fit please point it out, then I can give it more weight when I decide what to demo.

If you like a classic Prince feel you should try a Prince NGX (or was it NXG?) Graphite!

EDIT: NVM, didnt notice that you wanted a lighter racquet, sorry.

I actually want to try something new. classic prince feel is all I know, so its not necessarily what I want. Maybe by trying new racquets I will find that the old school feel is what I like, but maybe not.
