Third place on Sportsman of decade, #1 Tiger and second Amstrong, is that correct ?, This guy is the best on its sport, a top of almost any category, is the same to Tiger or Amstrong?, Dont forget Tiger and Amstrong were involved in problems, Roger until today is clean, let me know your comments.
Thank you

I think Armstrong deserves the title or even the top. Tiger should not due to his world famous incident with his wife.

It's not really about Federer not being number one, it's more about a golfer being number. A golfer an athlete? Not in my book.

Lance isnt even the best ever in his sport, Indurain beat him time after time head to head when both were in their peak. Armstrong had to wait for Indurain to get old and retire.

Fed is arguably the greatest in his sport and Tiger maybe except for Jack Nicklaus in his

Lance Armstrong for his achioevement at this age is acceptable but come one Tiger beating Fed no way. What Fed does week and day with conistent results makes tiger's ability look like crap.

What about if all about is marketing....Nike, etc....

Money....Marketing, Woods is on big issue already, mentally is in a hole, millions of dollars are in jeopardy, we dont know when he is going to return if he will handling his situation and return to his way.

Amstrong, well, i dont know about Amstrong's sponsors and if he has anough atraction to get big business to big companies; thats for sure Indurain can tell you Amstrong is not the best.

I think Roger is the best, Tennis is so difficult, just to see all future and challengers players trying to get enough points to play on ATP tournaments, point in consideration is not to reach that level even more diffucult is to mantain, and be number one, reach 15 grand slams won, more than 20 semifinals in a row on big ones, ....but mainly play so beautifull so you can learn tennis and improve your game only to see Roger on slow motion, thats a legacy....

I think this is a push to Tiger to get better.

Comments please...

Thank you...

Since when has there been money in cycling? Who has actually watched the Tour de France for more than an hour?

it's of the decade though, not of all time.

also, people on these boards are so narrow minded it's staggering. so, tennis is the best/hardest sport ever, cycling=riding a bike, and golf takes no athletic skill and is only a game? right. I'm sure the Tour de France is a breeze. cyclists probably aren't in shape at all. I don't find golf physically impressive in any way but you need a tremendous amount of skill to be good, let alone the top professional of the decade.

Golf is not a sport. Should be Fed and Lance on top.

Golf is a sport, I play as much golf as i do tennis and they are both sports.

Back to the list, I think Federer, Armstrong and Woods are very good choices for the top 3, put them in whichever order you want.

Others I would of considered would of been Michael Phelps, Phil Taylor and Ryan Giggs.

I feel Usain Bolt should be higher. He practically DESTROYED 2 world records. Remember when Ben Johnson with roids went 9.79 and someone said noone could go faster?

Armstrong? You guys must be kidding...Its proven that he had been dopped in his first Tour win. So you really think that he was. And he wasn't won anything else than the Tour.

The tour is by far the biggest event in Cycling. Still I would definitely hold it against him that he has never won the 2nd, 3rd, or probably 4th biggest events in Cycling. It would be like someone winning Wimbledon a record number of times, maybe some other semi big event once, and nothing other than small tournaments. That plus the very believable doping allegations that have followed him his whole career.

Phelps and Bolt should be on top.

I agree, especialy on Phelps. The only thing issue I would have with Bolt is he has really on been there the last 2 years of the decade. Still what he did in those 2 years was just so insane.

I would probably have Federer 3rd. Then a whole collection of baseketball players, Nadal, soccer players, Armstrong, baseball players, maybe a triathlete or two, and a bunch of others before even reaching so called athletes from the non sports that are golf (Woods) or Nascar (Jimmie Johnson).

He is Lance "the master of juice" armstrong, anybody saying he wasnt on the juice is a complete idiot.. ask yourself one question, how could he destroy his competition when most of them was totally doped?? the ignorant answer would be: hes just an amazing athlete and I truly believe hes totally clean:roll:
the correct answer would be: hes just using some new and probably much better PED. He never had cancer, but used that excuse to avoid being tested in a period where he built hes new and improved physique using extreme amounts of PED.
face it he wasnt that good to begin with, but I guess cancer really helped him out, it actually helped him so much he could blow a whole field of juiced morons completely away:rolleyes:
if you know just a little about PED then you know its impossible unless hes real name is Clark kent. its a complete disgrace if this award goes to him!

I agree Armstrong is both overrated and juiced. He is a one event wonder, unlike the past greats of cycling who also won 4 or 5 Tour de Frances, but won all the other biggest events in cycling multiple times over too. He is also juiced up to the eyeballs, I totally agree on that point also.

Amazing athlete + PED = 9.79.
Genetic freak + PED = 9.58.

Correction: Genetic freak + some good proper Caribbean yams, potatoes, eddoes, cassava and dumplings growing up = 9.58. Turned out some world class fast bowlers too. Now, they get raised on KFC and other fast food rubbish and can't bowl in 2 matches without breaking down

After decades of doped 100m record-holders you think the athletic world suddenly changed?

It's always been the same, a new 100m sprinter breaks records, gets hailed, then later he gets caught and is ridiculed.

A few years later someone breaks the doper's records, gets hailed and the cycle repeats.

It has come true long ago.

Justin Gatlin, Maurice Greene and Carl Lewis, to name 3 well known names, have all been involved in some doping issues.

I mean it's obviously nice to think that all those fantastic achievements in sports are done only by hard work, but it's not the reality.

I think this is a push to Tiger to get better.

Comments please..

If you're suggesting the title is a means of helping Woods' off-sport issues, then that is a skaky premise at best. Woods' personal problems cannot be assuaged by a completely unrelated title connected to his professional life.

I agree Armstrong is both overrated and juiced.

...try getting the U.S. media (general news/sports/talk shows, etc.)--with its neverending desire to create wholly false clean/male/God icons (see Phelps & Woods)--to admit what everyone in the world has known for too many years to mention.

You know the really ironic thing: not only did he show this speed very early in rural Jamaica, but if it were a decade or so ago, he'd probably (and in fact nearly was) developed as a West Indian fast bowler... would have had the same speed and been a worthy successor to the likes of Michael Holding, Wes Hall and Charlie Griffith - sending down balls at 100 mph+, and you wouldn't have been here saying a word about him and PED's

Bolt is without a doubt an extremly gifted runner, maybe the most gifted of all time.
But that doesn't change the fact that PED decide over medals in the sport he's active in.
He could probably beat his (also PED-using) opponents without any synthetic help anyway, but not with the times he's been running.

The real question is if it's still cheating when almost anyone keeps dping it.

I don't think his "shaky premise" as you put it is true, but I could see the logic - Tiger is most likely feeling rather demotivated right now, and getting called "athlete of the decade" could well give him some much needed encouragement.

Calling cycling easy and then calling the forum narrow minded? Try looking for the steepest hill you can find and then imagine doing 70 miles of that. I do both sports while cycling isn't as technical it is still a tough sport. Tennis test your agility but cycling is a true test of endurance.

Thats correct, just a comment, does not mean is truth, but Tiger means lot, lot, lot of money, if tiger is not going to be able to return to his performance of champion, many companies are worry about it, so will be a good mottivation to Tiger, any way, my comment about Federer is how in a very competitive sport he is on top must all time, more than 20 semifinals on grand slam is a super performance, 3 grand slams won in two or three years ( i dont remember) it is great, was Tiger able to set same results?, i dont know, i guess not, but thank you to all of you to put your comments on this thread.

I take a comment from Ivan Lendl, more or less words ´´ If some body years ago aproach to me to tell me there will be a tennis player to be in more than 20 semifinals in a row in grand slams, i would consider that as crazy comment....

Thanks...

I think you misread my post. I called the board narrow minded for shrugging off cycling as nothing more than riding a bike.
