This Is A Weak Era

LOL this did not age well. 2012 was right in the middle of the sport's Golden Age.

The weak era is right now. Ever since Djokovic faltered post-RG16 the tour has been dominated by has-beens and mugs. A dramatic era, to be sure. All the Big 3 have added significant chapters to their legacies in their 2017-20 indian summer, but the quality has undeniably suffered, with no great talents taking it to them

There is hope, however:

Thiem just got wrecked because of the big 3. No slams, a couple titles, and now he’s 27, the same age Nadal was in 2013. I hope he can win some titles however.

Everyone knows 2003-2007 is weak fairytale era in which Federer racked up 12 slams vs Bagdhatis, Kiefer, Gonzalez, Grosjean, Roddick, crippled Agassi. He came crashing down to earth once the strong era started in 2008.

Maybe he will get another go around once the season starts back up, I’m not expecting a next gener to win anything, and he has Wimbledon (until recently) to rely on.

troll, here is what your Wonderland comrade compiled when he was checking the most dominant Big 3 matches against top 10 players
9 out of 13 are from the period 2013-2018.

everyone can see how stronk is the 2013 - 2018 period.
and everyone can see how stronk was 2019, when a grandpa took the greatest ever born player in W2019 final to the 5th set tiebreak and then defeated him at WTF, hence canceling his hopes on WTF title, weeks at #1 and YE#1

That’s because big 3 reached highest peak ever in 2014-2019

no, it's because the likes of Coric and Zverev wait till they retire.
Fed, Rafa and Novak didn't wait, they started to win and sent the previous ATGs to retirement, well except that Rafa and Novak failed to retire Fed.
Nextgen are playing against best ever at their peak so it’s hard to break through.

Thiem, Goffin, Raonic, Nishikori could win multiple slams in 2000-2007.

He won another 8 slams from 2008 onwards - that's as many as Connors, Lendl or Agassi in their entire careers. If that's "crashing to earth" I hate to think what you think of virtually all the other players.

11/16 slams in the 04-07 weak era then 5/36 slams in the 08-16 strong era.

And really should have won more instead of having to beat both Djokodal in his 30's to win a slam while Djokodal in their 30's get free passes each time.

Djokodal still have each other at slams, peak Federer to contend with and talented youngsters such as Thiem, Medvedev, Zverev.
