This will be the 5th Grand Slam meeting in the past 13 slams between Nadal and Schwartzman

Everytime Schwartzman make a deep run in a major, he run into Nadal over the past few years:

2018 Australian Open 4th Round: Nadal win 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3

2018 Roland Garros Quarterfinal: Nadal win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2

2019 US Open Quarterfinal: Nadal win 6-4, 7-5, 6-2

2020 Roland Garros Semifinal: Nadal win 6-3, 6-3, 7-6

2021 Roland Garros Quarterfinal

I wouldn't be surprised if we get another meeting between them at the US Open this year or in another major next year

Some bad misfortune for Schwartzman, except for 2018 AO those were all titles run by Rafa, no?

But credit him for giving Rafa some tough matches despite many incorrectly saying he has no weapons and has no chance. Hopefully they don’t get too close though!

Diego had to face Nadal in 5 of his 7 best slam finishes (4R or better), and in 4 of his best 5 (QF or better)

It is no coincidence that as soon as Ferrer ended his career he was replaced by another player with objective limitation of the same kind: Nadal needs his pigeons predictably coming at him in the important moments.
