Thoughts on a Dunlop Srixon?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a new racket and currently one of the most likely is a Dunlop Srixon CX 200 LS. I'd love to hear from people who use or have used this racket. How does it feel? How does it play? I'd love to know as much about this racket as I can.

Thanks,
Peter J

Hey Peter,

I've got one and it's fun. It's almost spec-for-spec identical to the old hotmelt 300g's I used to use, and it plays almost identically to those. It's light with a thin beam, so maneuverable but you're responsible for the power. Plenty of room for lead if you like tinkering, but I needed the maneuverability. Mine had a full bed of luxilon adrenaline when I bought it, and I think I'd like a softer poly or a hybrid with a multi in it a bit better for a bit more feel. Serves had more pop than I expected, and I was able to place them well. My usual racquets are old i.Radical OS's, and I found this one pretty cheap online. I love the i.Rads for groundies and volleys, but tend to play a more slice-based game and work to net with them. I felt a good bit more confident taking bigger topspin cuts on groundstrokes with the Dunlop and found quite a bit more pop on first serves. I didn't go in as often to net, but didn't find it to be bad there, just not quite as soft (again, could be strings). My slice backhand is as good as it can get with the i.Rad, and I didn't find the same control or bite on that shot (upon which I heavily rely) with the CX200 LS. Overall, I really enjoyed hitting with it. I hit it alongside a Head graphene prestige s and have to say that the Dunlop was a far more enjoyable experience. I felt that I got little to no feel on serves or topspin shots with the prestige s (oddly, though, great slice backhand), and it's an almost identical spec to the cs200LS. I've got it in a 3/8, but am finding that a 1/4 serves me better. so thinking of trading it on here.

Old topic, I know. I am currently testing a CX 200 LS, and so far I am quite surprised. Very dampened and comfortable, very controllable and still enough power. I will give it a good try this coming week. Other options for me are the 300 gram 100 inch racquets like SX and FX, or the 400 Tour. I must say, I have never looked at Dunlop in the more recent years, but they have quite some nice racquets nowadays again!

Is it as stiff as PD in reality?
I don’t think so, however I used the 2018 PD which seemed fairly dampened. I’ve added weight to the FX and like it even more. The FX feels slimmer and the head smaller than the PD, most ch like the Blade Team or the Steam, which was the main reason I switched. I like the PD’s string pattern better though.

I’ve also picked up an SX300 which feels a little softer and is a little more controllable and a little less powerful than the FX.

I planned to demo the CX400 Tour but I’m so satisfied with the FX and SX, I don’t plan on switching away from these.

Don't they both have a 100 sqinch head? Or did you mean that it feels smaller even though it isn't?

Can you compare the PD18 with SX300? I have a PD with added silicone in the handle and its still a bit stiff and jarring. So I’m using it from time to time. As a ex user of Dunlop frames (last one was BM200) really considering the Dunlop frames again.

The SX I’m using has silicone in the handle and lead up top. It’s about 5 pts HL, and it feels pretty dampened compared to the PD. I didn’t find a good modified setting on the PD so I played it stock. The SX is just a different racquet than the Babolats and is less stiff feeling. The SX feels like the ball stays on the string a little longer than the PD. It also feels more stable. Dunlop has found a way to make their 100s feel smaller than 100”.
