I'm no expert, but some shot prep and the serve motion both look a little unconventional. You don't make too many mistakes and make some good shots, which is counter to what I'd expect looking at the prep. Given some of the ooomph you have on your baseline shots, I expected to see some real powerful putaways at the net but didn't see it (during actual play, not drills). It's like you are just going up there trying not to make a mistake ... just casually guiding it where you want. Some of those you should have just destroyed.

This looks pretty typical of what I see at my club in the 4.5 leagues. You have a nice game to build on for sure! Take my opinion for what it's worth. :)

- I'd like to see more depth on the GSs

- Good footwork

- He swings quite a bit on his volleys. Then again, I learned from the "short backswing" school.

- His BH has a bit of a hitch: he takes it back into position, pauses, then drops it in preparation for the swing. All other things being equal, I would think a continuous motion would be more efficient.

- He seems to do most of the serve work with his arm. He could get more power by incorporating more leg drive and shoulder turn.

- Twice he had the OH smash to end the point but he wasn't aggressive enough and his opponent managed to drive him off of the net.

Pros:
- Good stamina
- Consistent in executing his strokes
- Good movement.

Cons:
- No power whatsoever. When he was playing out points the coach was hitting moonballs that he should have been able to tee off on with shoulder height forehands. Instead he executed his pushing forehand.
- Refusal to grip the throat of the racket during FH prep was driving me insane.
- BH was awkward. He couldn't hit it without planting his right foot in closed stance at the last moment. Also his takeback wasn't getting high enough (for disguised slices) or low enough after that (for topspin).
- Serve worked well enough and has a ton of potential but the mechanics are huge mess right now.

Needs to:
- close his racket face a few degrees on his forehand and hit harder.
- watch vids of Djoker/Murray hitting slowmo BHs.
- Hire a coach to fix his serve.

WTH was that? 4.0 league practice?
Watched 15 seconds. Looks to be prepping for the ball way too early.

Well he has in fact recieved numerous offers including NAIA and some of the best NJCAA D1 colleges so he cannot be that bad ;)

That sounds about right. NAIA is more like D2/3, not D1, and NJCAA can be all over the place. He'd be hard pressed to get a scholarship offer at any serious D1 school, but whatever, if he's just looking to play competitively at some level in college, he can certainly do that. In USTA men's league, that translates to a good 4.5 level.

I'm not surprised by that honestly. Although theres a couple factors that make it hard to judge - he's basically playing catch with his coach in this video, maybe he has the ability to hit much harder when he wants to. Also, we don't see him in any kind of match play. Maybe his movement is phenomenal. His stamina and consistency on ordinary shots really was impressive.

I wasn't saying that he sucks. Looks like a gifted athlete with excellent consistency. His potential is basically limitless. But he has alot to work on if he is viewing tennis as a potential career.

He watches the ball well, is athletic, good movement and recovery. A lot to work with. I am a div 1 club level player in Australia, which is a fairly competitive league. Hope I can help.

FH
The wrist is doing all the work in the forehand, I feel like he needs to drive through it a more. Playing at a fast paced level with that forehand will likely result in a lot of miss hits.

BH
Shouldn't see your back swing go past your back (unless you wear a skirt). The front arm should be straight with a slight pull in the right shoulder. Theres a few good videos such as Rick Maccis ATP backhand guide and Verdasco with no racket.

FH Volley
No need to cusp the ball. Drag the butt cap more and go through it.

BH Volley
Looks okay

Smashes
Similar to your serve which needs a lot of work.

Serves
A lot to work on. One thing would be to push off the back foot slightly before you make contact with the ball rather than in sync.

Soultion
A) Get a coach (especially for the serve)
B) Watch online videos and then go practice (with or without a partner). I recommend Feel Tennis with Tomas (#1 online instructor) and Rick Macci (no explanation needed).

Legend
The kid double clutches his 2hbh. He does prep, starts swing, has a bit of a kink and then continues swing. Also, he was not really going for a lot on FH or 2HBH. But, all in all, he has a good basis for a decent tennis game. Interested in his junior ranking to see if I am anywhere close to reality. He could be 4.0 or 5 star recruit based on other videos posted here.
