Thoughts on this Set-up?

Try lower tensions like 40 or 42 lbs also if you want more comfort. I tried HyperG and HyperG Soft at those tensions on a G3 Pure Strike Tour and they seem to play better at lower tensions than around 50 lbs. They go dead around 15-20 hours for me.

I now play with a VS17 gut mains/HyperG Soft 18 cross hybrid at 47/44 lbs and I like that even better.

hyper G works great at taming the power of the pure strike but it was a bit too harsh for me. If your arm feels fine and you play great then there shouldnt be a problem. I like to soften up HG with GW or polaris crosses. I also string low or else my arm cries out in pain. Currently at low 30s, works like a dream because HG has such great control.

Have you tried HyperG soft? Plays similar to HG, but with more comfort.

I felt that HG was much better than HGS at lower tensions. HGS felt mushy and power level was quite vague so I had a hard time gauging what kind of ball was coming off my string.

Just in case you are still open to experimenting with fullbed poly, try HG Soft at a higher tension like 42 or 44lbs in that case as it doesn’t feel mushy at those tensions. I’ve never gone lower than 40 lbs.

yeah HGS is definitely better at slightly higher tension, I agree. But, I prefer low tension for the extra free power. HG1.25 mains at 32lbs with soft copoly cross still not soft enough for me. Elbow started flaring up pretty bad that while I was sleeping, I had a dream of bad TE pain. Then I woke up, and it was real. Gonna have to dump HG. Mayami Tour Hex is a good compromise between HG and HGS softness while still has enough feel that it isn’t too mushy. My only gripe is that it doesn’t last as long as HG/HGS. I would recommend a try.
