Typti is almost as bad as pickleball. Instead of making use of what we already have (lines that are just slightly off from actual tennis court dimensions for example) it’s forcing new equipment purely for greed.

It’s actually comical how hard they tried with the racquets. A 22” racquet is standard? Hilarious. They make junior tennis racquets 21 and 23 but not 22. The idea I’m gonna spend $200 on a meme sport is absolutely stupid.

You want your own racquets, fine maybe. Just don’t be pricing them at $200 on your website. Just reeks of greed. Especially when it’s so close to the other options on the market.

All of the options you described are even less popular recreationally than pickleball and tennis, so it would be even harder to find groups to play with than tennis. So they aren't alternatives in any meaningful sense.

Here in Middle-Europe pickleball is not a popular sport. Luckily after prp injection i can still play tennis doubles on clay.

Agreed. He played it all wrong from the outset based on pure greed. He should not have declared in the rules it can only be played with approved Typti branded racquets and balls. That's clearly a cash grab and stifles competition and innovation with the equipment. He should have also taken a hit on the chin and treated the racquets as a loss leader, pricing them at 2 for $99 with 3 Typti balls just to get people on court playing the sport. It needed exposure and people playing.

To date I've not seen a single Typti match on a pickleball court in person. Skyball has a better chance of catching on, IMO. The equipment is much less expensive and less restrictive if any tournaments were to be created.

mainly bc the rallies aren't as cat and mouse and too short for tennis. A 10 second point with 25 sec rest, especially for 5.0 when most points are based on serve, isn't as fun or as good exercise.

Absolutely my take as well. A 22” racquet? What a joke. Jr racquets are made at 21 and 23. Dude literally picked an arbitrary number to sell gear. Eff him. I’m down for anyone trying to have fun with even a mediocre level of athleticism mixed in. No reason to buy all new equipment to play an emerging game.

I’m down for anyone trying to have fun with even a mediocre level of athleticism mixed in. No reason to buy all new equipment to play an emerging game.

All of these new attempts can be avoided and people can just use 21 or 23 inch frames and the USTA Red Ball, and make up their own rules about serves, kitchen, bounce on return of serve etc by mixing and matching tennis and pickleball rule and have a fun time

Also … there is this little scale:

1) hitting a tennis ball with racket and strings - the meaning of life
2) hitting plastic ball with paddle - soul crushing but you can get over it
3) hitting foam ball with anything - hideous

btw - 100% agree that Typti reeks of $ grab. But … you can add pickleball (DUPR ratings, rec tournament pricing, apps, paddles, etc).

That is a lot from me who seldom has strong opinions.
