Tiafoe 106 MPH FH at Miami

He hit a 106 MPH forehand off a floater Federer hit to him on the baseline. Usually triple digit forehands are service returns or from redirecting the power of hard hit shots. That was pure power. His 2HBH looked good too for an American, but not European level good.

Most triple digit FHs I've seen are hit off of semi weak shots at the baseline. But yeah it was a great shot from Frances.

While his Forehand looked great and Backhand looked good, his Return of Serve, his Second Serve and his Volleys/Dropshots/Overhead game is really below par and will need to work harder on those areas to be a huge threat.

Agreed, but the kid still has a great attitude on court and he has game as well. He's leagues better than Young or Harrison, that's for sure. At 19, he has a lot of room for growth.

I definitely think he's got potential, and enjoyed watching him. I liked the attitude of idolizing Federer but committing to take it to him as much as possible - which is what Rodgie would want if we're to believe the inscription on the new RF 97.

i reallly dont care if he is not at his best when it comes to technique of certain strokes, yes his forehand looks weird and his volley as well, almost all of his strokes can be improved, however the most important thing to notice from him is his attitude, like you can really sense the passion that he plays with and his commitment, really good for such a young professional, and also he already has good development on his body, so yeah physically he has advanced a lot and seems to have a good head, its only a matter of time until he improves his game but the most important things are already present on him, but that does not guarantee that he will keep improving

Pure power in itself is not a skill; hitting powerful shots that land "in" during pressure moments on the big stage is. Let's see how often he can manage to do that before we anoint him the next great one.

His 2HBH looked good too for an American, but not European level good.

Yeah...that's really not a thing!

Nice! I've always thought his forehand looked a little goofy, but it's good to see that it can be massive despite that.

Tiafoe's forehand take back is indeed weird. I don't know why the over pronates his wrist like that. His serve has a touch of old school in it that he noticeably uses the back scratch. Maybe his coach over did it with the wrist lag.

The thing that makes his forehand look weird is the overpronation at the start of the takeback.
This is something you'll see more and more modern players do, though, and it contributes to massive lag and acceleration on the swing. Accordingly, most of the players with that kind of technique tend to be capable of some brutal shots but not with the most control.

But not as deep as Kader Nouni

What happened ?

(I missed the match, saw only the highlights)
In his presser he talked about what an honor it is to play Fedr but that he's going to go after him with everything he has. So he's a thinking fan not a labradore poodle

He is really interesting, but what's up with pelvic? Terrible APT or am I missing something?

I had to look this up, but had a feeling what you were describing and didn't know there was a name for it. Are you an MD or in the field? I also noticed James Blake has the same condition, but thought it was caused by his scoliosis. I'm unsure if his scoliosis was lateral or medial.

Let's say I know something about stuff like this, but it's not my job.

But Tiafoe has to do something about that or it will cause trouble sooner or later in his life.

Just like Kyrgios has to work on his terrible Hyperkyphosis.
