Tick, tick, tick, tick...time is running out for Nadal to catch Federer

By the time he'll be competing at the 2012 FO he'll be 26 years old with 10 (if he doesn't win the AO) or 11 (if he does) majors at the time. Federer had exactly 12 majors when he was 26 years old.

Seems that Nadal doesn't have the age advantage anymore.
 
This loss today just may have ended Nadal's career for all intents and purposes.

His body has clearly been falling apart this year and I've been on record as far back as March as saying that his play hasn't passed the "eye test." He doesn't have anywhere near the weight of shot and he certainly doesn't have anywhere near the imposing speed and stamina he once did.

That's a bit of an over-reaction isn't it? Ended his career? I'm sure he'll be back with more wins for a few years yet. Will he win another major? Very probably.

This thread isn't about making finals. Federer made the FO final this year but his slam tally has been stuck at 16 since January 2010.

Nadal can reach all 4 majors finals in 2012 but if Djokovic beats him in all 4 finals, Rafa will be stuck at 10.
 
Why did you even start this thread? Nadal was NEVER going to catch Roger anyway,and you darn well know that. These troll bait threads should be deleted as soon as they are created. They do nothing but provoke and take up space.

I agree and have been saying the same thing since after the Aussie Open and had little support. Where were you?

However, Nadal bounced back from a horrible 2009 after Australia and dominated 2010 with his best tennis to date. So there is still hope he will again raise his level!

what makes you think that nadal will KEEP his peak level aged at the age of 27,28? Name me one player in history who at 28 played nothing worse than at his very peak of 22-24.

Unless Nadal wins the Australian next year, we'll finally stop hearing the "Nadal has more slams at his age than Federer did" argument for his surpassing of Federer.

I've made a few posts about it on here this year. just do a search. I don't post here that often as you can see from my post count/join date.

I just don't see him ever regaining the form he once had. Nadal's 25 is probably more akin to Federer's 28 or so. Lots of mileage on that odometer. And his game takes a different mentality than Federer's. I think Fed's mental game has hurt him match-to-match the last couple of years. He just doesn't have the consistent hunger any more, which is understandable. But, in a way it also helped him bounce back and have that big 2009 and Aussie '10. He just doesn't think the same way Nadal does.

Nadal obviously dwells on things a lot more and is much more easily shaken. He is stronger in-match mentally, but he has looked distressed on court this whole year. Forget his finals tally and the many near-titles to Djoker. He doesn't look like he's having fun out there anymore.

well why stop there, rafa might not even make the finals...he might not even make it into a grandslam second round....

Its not like we are talking about Roddick.
