Tim Henman believes Novak Djokovic will be able to play at Wimbledon this year even if he remains unvaccinated.

Currently, people are able to enter sports venues in the UK without a vaccination and Henman believes this will remain the case come June.
When asked if Djokovic will be unable to grace SW19’s hallowed turf, Henman, who is on the Wimbledon committee, told BBC Radio Four: “I don’t think so.
"To get into the UK at the moment, those are the guidelines the Championship will be following at this stage.
“At this moment in time [rules about participation in the tournament are] going to be government-led.”

I’ve always maintained that Timothy Henry Henman OBE is the greatest British player since Fred Perry.

If he can't play RG, I can't see Wimbledon/UK govt not stepping in and blocking him from playing there as well. It would make them look bad if they allow him to play when the other slams/host countries don't...

UK hosts the greatest tournament of Tennis, they know that, they would not be under any pressure from other countries' govts enforcing draconian mandates on their home slams. UK leads the way, never follows.

True, and that's why I think it would be very strange if Wimbledon allows him to play. Over 90% of the population is vaccinated in most countries, thousands of people have lost their jobs from not being vaccinated. What example would it set if a guy who just outright refuses to get it plays/wins when everyone else in the draw has played their part? It would be a very controversial GS win, and I don't think a tournament like Wimbledon would want a bar of that

Never underestimate the superiority complex of the British aristocracy.

He is just not any guy, he is a 20 times grand slam winner and world number 1. Even Scott Morrison didn't want to remove Novak, only reason why he did that was because the public were enraged. So I would say depends on the mood of the public, if they want him in then he will be in for sure, govts are not against Novak, the public mood decides things.

If he doesn't meet the criteria, by law, to enter a country, then he won't be participating in any tournament in that country.

Here in the UK lockdowns and further restrictions will not be tolerated. Many many small businesses have suffered and the government can’t keep forking out furlough money.
The British government have spent a tiny pittance in sick pay and paying people to stay home compared to other countries. It's sick.

I believe his public stance against being vaccinated will not help his case. The concerns that his participation in grand slams will support anti-vax movement can only increase with his latest interview.
I am not saying he is anti-vax but somehow anti-vax community are associating themselves with him even more now.
It all depends on how the public sentiment is in next few months. If the French/UK govt feel there will be a backlash with his participation, they will most likely not allow it. Remember even with all the relaxations, the rules can be different for foreigners/ visiting professionals.

This might come as a surprise to you, but Governments do not make rules to let or stop Djokovic from entering their countries . Whatever the rule of the day is, it will apply to Djokovic and every other non-citizen on the planet.

Come on! Do you really believe the world turns around Henman only? The world of wisdom's opening up....Denmark, Switzerland, UK, Canada (well Ontario) etc. The nature has its own ways to correct itself even when some greedy and manipulative corporate magnates and their sidekick experts tamper with it.
