Former World No. 4 Tim Henman says Novak Djokovic is not the most complete player ever but that he is one of the most effective players in the history of the game.

Speaking in New Delhi where he is promoting the Road to Wimbledon programme, Henman said that every aspect of Djokovic's game is very advanced and athletic and that he is very solid from the back of the court but added that he does not come to the net very often.

Hmn, wonder who is right.

Discuss.

Nobody listens to a coward who wouldnt cheer his country on in the Davis Cup final because of giving in to cowardly terrorists doing an act of cowardice in a different country to where his country was playing.

Well from the ground he is probably the best ever. His serve is good, but nowhere near the best in history. Overhead, below ATP average I would say. Net is above average, but hes no Fed nevermind Sampras, etc. He is fast but allows himself to be bossed sometimes.
Can't say most complete.

If Henman said that, he's right. Djokovic is certainly extremely effective but he's not the most complete player of all time. That's nonsense and recency effect speaking.

It was a click bait article and the OP fell for it. Henman never said that.

more importantly, this thread is a click bait for folks like you and you fell for it.. we humans are a weak lot, no shame there though.. happens to us all.. :)

the wise thing to do was to resist since you cant force the world to help push your agenda.. the Nadal gang tried hard too, but failed.. big time..

Who does he think is the most complete then? I say he is both the most complete and the most effective on hard, but not that effective on clay.

I think he may not be the only one who thinks there are/were other players in tennis history who have a more all round game.

Even if he did, who is Henman? His own British press made a complete mockery of him every Wimbledon and called him the ultimate choker. No Slams and 1 Masters title in his entire career? Ha

So he lacks credibility unlike Nick huh? Well, guess what? He's entitled to his opinion just like Nick. I feel your pain since you were trying to convince everyone all the "experts" think Djokovic is the best.

He's kind of hating. LOL. Listen to his recent quotes....

Henman, while conceding there is now a gap between Djokovic and the other top players, does not think it has become a gulf.

"They can definitely challenge. Murray is at highest ranking in his career, he's number two in the world. He's playing great tennis," the 41-year-old Henman told Reuters in an interview.

"But obviously Djokovic is playing a little bit better at the moment.

"Roger was in the final of U.S. Open last year and he was in the final of the Wimbledon last year. Djokovic stopped him in his quest to win more grand slams.

"They are still very, very close."

Huh...a little bit better? They are very, very close? He completely dominated in 2015 and toyed with Federer and Murray in Australia.

He resents Novak for beating up on Murray ;)

Like who? Djoko is an almost perfect combination between offense and defense. That's rare.

Djokovic is suited for today's courts . That doesnt mean he is the most perfect player in tennis history.

He has not exhibited the kind of skill needed to win on fast courts. Becker himself is on record saying Novak will win 0 Wimbledon in the 80's.

Henman is a former player but his opinion does not hold weight like Sampras, Laver, Agassi or even Kuerten. He is not on that elite level for his opinion to hold as much weight as theirs, but he's entitled to it.

Also, Henman is good buddies with Federer.

Meanwhile, Bolletieri is unbiased.

Its weird that Henman agrees with me though... :) I wouldn't necessarily have to wait for Sampras/Laver/Agassi..

After the compliment Laver gave Djokovic, any comment from Tim Henman is pretty much obselete.

On the topic of GOAT, I agree after Laver nothing else matters..
"Roger Federer certainly is my claim to be the best of all time - if there is such a thing. With Rafael Nadal not far behind," said Rod Laver

I think we are talking about being the Most Complete Player.. its too low for the likes of Sampras/Agassi/Laver.. hence the Henman/Kuerten/Bollettieri gang..

So now that a former pro says Djokovic isn't the most complete player ever, his opinions are irrelevant because he's won no slams lol (and he's biased of course). Sure.
I guess what Djokovic says is also irrelevant unless Fed corroborates it...
Mental gymnastics at its finest (it is good to exercise your brain though). Keep it coming.

I also heard the British media said after the last AO that Murray is close to Djokovic as well as recording a win over him. Do you expect those clowns to give someone else credit?
My mouth is also close to my nose but never manages to kiss it. :D

Meanwhile Bolletieri's academy could never produce a player with a one handed back hand and someone skilled at the net...

typical ad hominem, unrelated, low-blow argument.

Stick to the facts and relevant discussion that actually pertains to the matter at hand.

You are up too late!

Just pointing out Bollitieri's bias...

I work nights

I doubt Bolletieri is biased against Federer because of the type of players his academy has produced lol

Meanwhile Henman actually is a good friend of Federer.

I can't believe people are debating Henman's credibility over Bollettieri's. Tim may well be wrong but the only time Bollettieri says something intelligent about tennis is when he's repeating what he heard someone else say. Other than that he's little more than a publicity *****.

We're debating their bias, which is obvious who is and who isn't.
