Time for Djokovic to exit gracefully

Not chunky, massive. He put on a ton of muscle before 2023.

Doesn’t really help him – you can see when he lifts up his shirt he’s got excess fat now where is before he was as late as possible. He’s slower, older, and he doesn’t have a shot making of someone like Federer to make up for these things.

I predict Trump will have a third term, that doesn't mean it's what I want.

What I want is Shapo to mow him down on the way to the title, but I prognosticate with my gut + head, not my heart
donald lovely trump is our everything:)

The Alcaraz AO match really sticks out to me. That tells us he can still come up with the goods.

It tells me he's depenend on the brainfarts of his younger opponents. Alcz had no business losing that match. And each year he's in decline while the young guarde growth curve is steeply rising. It will get harder and harder for him every day.

And Raz hasn’t even won the tournament and has been complete garbage on hardcourt apart from IW.

Swearing to himself, falling down, choking routine shots, indecision, lack of fitness, older, kids getting busy, and perhaps most importantly, some consistent competition and now the end is in sight. Like I’ve said, it won’t be pretty, but he has an opportunity to leave gracefully. However I don’t think it’s in his personality to do this. I think he knows that he will disappear off the tennis map instantly and be relegated to the inauspicious back room of fpp section…and this can be mortal blow to someone that hasn’t cultivated a life outside of the profession. Hate to say it but this great champion is in for a rough ride, along with some of his fans. He’s going to go down fighting though. Good for him. That’s the journey.

I think so too.

I've always been of the opinion that any player should go whenever he damn well feels like. Be it Federer, Wawrinka, Murray. All these calls for they 'should' retire irked me to some extend and I don't want to be the hypocrite, so Djokovic can play on as long as he wants. We'll see. Where Fed & Nad had their body slamming the emergency break pretty hard core, I think its a bit different with Djoko, where is brain will hit the brake and chose family over losses.

Alcz had no business losing that match.
Djokovic’s problem this year seems to be that he lacks power to finish points even against low ranked players because he is getting to the ball late. In the AO match against Alcaraz, he got injured and started going for extra power early in points which helped him to outpower Alcaraz. If he can channel that aggression and play like that, he will do better and will not be losing first matches at tournaments like he has done four times so far this year. He doesn’t look like he can outhit anyone on slow courts (IW, MC, Madrid) this year where he hasn’t won a match.

Obviously, it's not looking good for him, but if anyone can peak for slams, it's Novak. (I get it: I don't know if he can just flip the switch, but these first/second round losses aren't happening at slams.)

But can people at least give him the full calendar year before swooping in like buzzards after every loss?

I dont even remember when he won the last ATP title. It is not just this year. So our Nolefam is fully entitled to being disappointed.

ATP Finals in 2023 beating Alcaraz and Sinner back-back. A final blaze of glory beating the young guns back-back.

Even though it was the usual flop Alcaraz in fall season and the pre-embryo Sinner , those were some great wins. Hopefully we have more such wins to come.

Yea, cause there was no shotmaking ability vs Alcaraz in the olympics or AO 3 months ago. Just log off dude. You are just waffling. Pathetic.

37 year old Federer would get outfought and outgunned by Alcaraz on clay any day of the week. Such shotmaking ability he had to skip clay while healthy cause it wasn't worth the effort lol. And then got wiped off the court by Nadal once he tried. Amazing shot making by Federer!
