I haven't especially taken in specific note, but would you guys agree that Nadal should have had a warning for time violation in that first round ? I gave up after the 3rd and half set. But by then, he was at least a couple of times over 35sec, and many times over 25. And the rules are set at 20. And nobody will argue that there was many crazy rallies... Actually a lot of the times this time violation happened in between games (on top of that 1 minute rest time). Mister walks slowly, one towel for a ball boy, a second towel for a ball boy. And in between changing court side, bottle alignement and all that dirt.
Ok I figured, you all gonna tell me "it doesn't matter they never gonna enforce the rules". But wouldn't it be of interest to document precisely this stuff as a player stat, for every single match ? When you can have all this at every match, ATP/ITF will be more likely to enforce the rules. And a first round should matter as much as any subsequent rounds.
Everybody is so obsessed about drugs testing, which cannot be done properly, this at least, is solid, on tape. It should matter.
Average time in between points, number of times over the regulated time, number of rallies above X points. Etc.
It's rather tedious but this got to be done, don't you think?
Cause it's easy to try to argue who is the best of all times, but using exploited extra rest time, is certainly not going to work your case.
