Timeline of the greatest racquets

Thank you for the list - it's quite interesting. Apparently, greatness is based on popularity in the pro arenas and the name of the players. These "great" rackets may not be that great for you. It really depends on your style of play. I tried some of the great ones on the list, e.g., PS85, Yonnex R22, PC600, POG. They are fine, but I prefer the lesser known rackets, e.g., Prince Spectrum Comp 90, Slazenger Panther Pro, Wilson Prostaff si 5.5 95, Wilson Ultra FPK 95, Wilson Ultra Graphite 95 because they are more forgiving and gentle to my arms.

I comPetely understand what your saying about Wilson:)

But back to the Pro Cynetic 1. By now someone around here should have come up with at least a bit of actual evidence that Sampras used it. He says himself that he used a Donnay before Prostaff. So if anything it's not likely to be the Pro Cynetic 1 because that was released too late, isn't it more likely to have been a slightly earlier Donnay?

Until I see some evidence, it could one of many similar Donnays, and there are lots!

I wonder if it was the Donnay Pro Graphite - it's very similar to the PS 85 and was sold to me as Donnay's version of it.

Could be, that one was 100% braided graphite, i dont think it's the cynetic cos the cynetic 1 was a hell lot flexier then the PS 85, the pro cynetic came out in 1986.

Personally i think he played one of the stiffer ones like the borg comp, gtx 25...

This 1977 Kneissl White Star Pro then, does anyone here have a photo of it?

Can anyone provide here a photo of a version of the White Star Pro before the one with blue/green chevron from late 79?

So many people mention this racquet, but until I actually see it, I'm sorry but I have trouble believing it exists!

(And I'm not talking about blurry photos of Lendl using a white racquet that looks like a White Star Pro)

Photo?

Anyone?

On my bumperless POG it prints 1976

and yes if you included POG OS then you should serioulsly consider the original Radical Tour OS (trisys 260). These 2 are like twin brothers dressing in different clotheses as disguise :)

So basically after 1990 only HEAD has made 2 good rackets and no other company has produced any good? :) sad but probably true.

Well I've been looking for a photo of this racquet (1977/1978 Kneissl White Star) for 2 years, and nobody seems to have one (not even a photo)!!!

I know it's quite an old racquet from Europe, but I'd really have thought someone would have a photo of it, if it existed!!!

I'm not convinced this racquet exists, anyone going to prove me wrong?

Wilson Jack Kramer Pro Staff has to pre -date 1969, as I picked one up during that summer. it was stiffer and thinner than the Autograph Model.

I'd like to know as well ... Who could be using PT630?

Also, any idea which versions Murray and Soderling are actually using?

Soderling , Simon, Foretz, Razzano, Hanescu, Gicquel, Young.....

Murray uses a custom PT57 with a 16x19 string pattern. Just ask ericsson he has one of Murray's racquets.

Wow, that is truely amazing! If I buy a 630/280 I will essentially be playing what these pros are playing? Same materials, construction, etc.? If so, I will have to pick one up just for sh!ts and giggles.

PT280 (Austria) is a really solid players' frame, probably my favorite out the few MidPlus racquets I have

Actually the closest "twin" to the POG OS is the Donnay Pro One released in 1989 (or what we know as the Pro One Limited Edition), featuring a very similar 19mm beam width and 16x19 string pattern. The Head Radical Tour Trisys 260 "Bumblebee" that came out in '93 when Agassi switched to Head is a close approximation by Head of the qualities/attributes of both the POG OS and Donnay Pro One LE OS, but with a 21mm beam profile and a 18/19 string pattern.

I think the short answer would be NO.
The pros will be using rackets made from the same Mold, but possibly different layups, PT57e for example.

I could be wrong though.

I only listed players that use the PT57A. Which is the same basic mold and layup as the retail PT630.

Wasn't the C6 the first to use braided Carbon technology? I loved that racquet so therefore "Greatest"

I think that distinction is shared by the C-6 and the Aldila Cannon.

Welcome to the T-W classic racquet forum by the way. :)

Why is that important to you about what the pros are playing? Do you think that the PT280/PT630 will improve your game?
