I always tried to plant the right (for me left) foot as I started the unit turn, but I noticed that fed does that step quite late.
he will unit turn while he moves to the ball and then release the hand and even start his "downward C" as the right foot lands.

the racket will be almost fully back as he gets the foot down. he will kinda jump on that leg and sit down on it as the racket goes down. that way using that jumping load you can jump on the leg and immediately have it firing up as the wrist lays back into the slot and the hips rotate powered by that reactive leg drive.
If you go down on that leg earlier while the upper body is still unit turning you will have to wait down for the racket to reach that end of the backswing and cannot use that leg as reactively.
I tried that yesterday myself. instead of planting my leg so early and drop down early I would do my unit turn earlier (fed does it more on the second last step with his left leg) and then jump on that hitting side leg as I release the racket to the final part of the backswing (pat the dog) and then immediately spring up with my racket already in the pat the dog position so that my leg can fuel the hip drive and the racket goes into the slot and then to the ball.
that way you can also relax more because you can be more upright during the running and then only sit down on the leg on that final step.
