Tipping a Pro After A Lesson

Do you tip pros after taking a lesson? I am always wanting to take my game to another level, so from time to time, I take a lesson from a pro at my club. For an hour, I pay $59. I do not tip him but am wondering if I am making a tennis etiquette faux pas by not doing so. $59 is enough to pay, and I don't really wish to pay more, but, at the same time, I don't want to be rude. Your thoughts?

never tipped in my life. its not really a tipping service. they probally wont mind the money but still its a job you dont expect tips.
 
please do not tip the guy/girl. tipping has gotten out of hand in north america! everybody thinks they're entitled to a tip for some reason. do not get it into the head of your tennis coach that he/she should be tipped.

Thanks for the unsolicited comment about my punctuation and for not answering my question. For the record, I think my punctuation is correct, and I know your grammar is incorrect. Instead of "your", you should have typed "you're".

Since, you, want, an, answer, so, bad, here, it, is, NO, do, not, tip.
 
Seriously, David. If you are rich enough and can afford it, Yes go ahead and tip. Just cause the pros make so little money as is and they can use it.
but if you barely have enough money, then you don't have to tip. It is not a expected part of the lesson. Actually pros appreciate someone that they will have regular sessions with. someone they can count on week after week. Not so much tips....

The punctuation was correct. It's okay to use commas. It makes it easier to read if you read above a 5th grade level. If "your" new to reading, it makes it harder. Hint: anytime you can replace 'your' with 'you are', you are really saying 'you're', see how it's a contraction of two (not to) words? Now please don't post again until 'you're' a year older.
 
No. The punctuation really wasn't correct. However, my spelling is usually so bad that I would not dare complain about someone's grammar.

I have members that try to tip and I won't take it. They are my members and I am simply supplying them with a service. If I have out-of-town guests that come to the club, I always accept tips. They are guests of my club...tipping is allowed.

I was taught to put a comma anytime you would pause, if reading it out loud. That makes it simple, and there could be pauses in all the places the commas are. There are probably more complicated schemes for the comma, though.

English spelling is tricky and not intuitive. But reading "your" for "you're", "there" for "they're", and "to" for "too" becomes a source of pain on these boards. I silently read over hundreds, if not thousands. But to see an inane complaint about punctuation using "your" for "you're", followed by no other observation, makes me hope that this new poster will move on.
 
tennis lessons, do not seem like a type of service where a tip is necessary. Like a previous poster said, if she was hot maybe you can ask her out sometime. But honestly $59 is plenty, no tip needed there
 
The problem wasn't the commas. There was a run-on sentence, but I think, in general, internet posters live in glass houses on this issue.

Grammar isn't about "schemes," but rules. However, I would be lying if I said I completely understood "dependent clauses," "independent clauses," as well as "coordinating conjunctions," "independent marker words" and "dependent marker words." In fact, I am sure a broke at least two of those rules already.

Actually, person with the Kool-Aid guy avatar, the pro may only receive little more than half of that $59. It is not unusual for places, such as private clubs, to take 40-50%. A club will usually take at least 20%. If there is a head pro he or she may take an additional percentage, as well. I am lucky as I keep all but 25% of my fee.

You are correct about the ROS. My bad. Not only are you a stringing guru, but you are a grammar and punctuation guru as well. :)

I agree. People who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones.

Give, him, $60, and, tell, him, to, keep, the, change. ;o)

At a dollar/minute for take your racket back earlier and make sure you follow through, I think your pro is doing pretty well.

Considering that the local pros charge 80 stinking bucks for an hour- HECK NO!!!

And yes, they actually keep most of this. As far as I'm aware, each pro is separate- they're not in it together. Each pro pays the club 23 dollars per hour for use of court and balls (I've checked).

ahh, I see, Mr. X avatar guy. Well you must be one lucky person to getting that cut, but how much are the lessons now? I wish I could take lessons, but I have to focus on more important things like school.
 
I am a tennis pro . I have worked in all sectors of this business . I don’t think you should ever tip any pro that you take a private tennis lesson from unless you take your lesson from 2 places.

One - lifetime fitness / tennis
Two - really young pros in a public setting .
The only reason why is the above markets are known to take a larger % of the pros cut . How much ? In some cases 60 to 80%.
